Atari Actually Posts a Profit in Q1

Gamedaily.biz writes: "Break out the champagne. After endless losses, Atari has posted a net income of $3.5 million for its first quarter. The release of Alone in the Dark was a big factor.

A couple weeks ago French publisher Infogrames reported its own first quarter fiscal results, revealing a 91 percent rise in sales, which was driven in large part by a "strong recovery" of the U.S. business (i.e. Infogrames' subsidiary Atari). Today, Atari announced its own fiscal results, and Infogrames wasn't kidding: Atari posted a profit of $3.5 million for the quarter, a vast improvement from the net loss of $11.9 million during the same period last year."
