When will the Wii receive the credit it's due?

Since its release in late 2006 the Wii has dominated sales worldwide with its 'pick up and play' approach to gaming. However, also since release, the Wii has been ripped into as a 'gimmick' or a 'toy' by Sony and Microsoft fanboys. Despite its huge success and range of serious games they still persist it is a 'gimmick' and that it will wear off. But at what point will credit be given to the Wii that it is a serious competitor in the market?
