They can't be near 360 graphics if it's only 480p. I'm looking forward to seeing what this game is all about, though. I already have 10 wii games and could use more LOL.

wow, if they applied that to the xbox 360 then it would be near unbelivable
Their also going to have to find out how to put it on a CD

Voiceofreason5851d ago

Someone is misinformed. Cd's havent been used in console for 2 gens now. Even the Wii has a DVD drive it just doesnt have the software to decode movies. So no reason to try to put this on Cd....

If they applied everything on the Quantum engine to the 360... it would look like crap. Both the 360 and PS3 graphic engines are way ahead of this one in terms of features. What's amazing is how they could manage to squeeze this stuff into the Wii considering it's puny power. (I mean we are talking literally about a 729 mhz powerpc 440 gecko chip that is one if not one or two generations behind THREE 3.2 ghz PowerPC 970 chips on a 360)
From the look of the tech demo, my opinion is that most of the lighting and bump mapping effects are a simulated version of the real thing. There is no liquid simulation for example.

I give this engine about 60-70% feature capability of a mainstream 360 graphic engine like Unreal.

That's a little hard to believe.

Probably because early 360 games were not as good looking as games coming out now. Sony had a 6 month delay to help them get a little extra programming time in to make games look better.Dev;s working on 360 games improved the 360 while on the market and dev's for Ps3 improved their games in that time. The only difference is 360 was on the market PS3 was being held back by Blu ray laser diode shortages for the longest time.I can see the Wii getting close to games like Perfect Dark on 360, but something like Gears.. Not so sure. I will remind some of you of this though. Wii is roughly 1/4th of what the 360 and PS3 are, however if you remember back to late 06 early 07 a lot of dev's said they were only using 33% of the 360's capabilities. If you think about it, It really isnt so far fetched to see some really decent games on Wii.

The Enemy Territory version of the PS3 shouldn't be too hard to achieve on the Wii.

Seeing is believing in my book! Quantum is a huge word for future tech and I don't see the Wii having any signs of Quantum power lol! Still I will look for this game just to see how it turns out and if it looks just as good as the 360 or close I just might pick one up!

Doppy5852d ago (Edited 5852d ago )

That's good and all, but show us a game running on the engine, and not some tech demo. I want to see a game as detailed as the Tech Demo on the Wii, and I want to see it soon. I want to know when are games using the engine coming out, and if they are leasing the engine to all developers. Maybe this is one of the big announcements Nintendo has in store for E3 (this engine will be available for all developers). Whether or not that is the case I'll wait to see if they can really accomplish what they set out to do. So enough lolly gagging now it's time to put up or shut up.

Splatoon 2 Shows Off What Wii Shooters Should Have Been

There’s a consensus about Splatoon 1 that cannot be disputed: motion controls are the way to play. The Wii U Gamepad had its many problems on the system as a whole, but along with the way in which the touch screen was implemented in the first game like I mentioned in my last piece, using the Gamepad’s gyroscope was deemed a superior way to play compared to traditional joystick control.
