Resident Evil 5 on Wii? Why Not....Right???

Resident Evil 4 was one of the greatest games of ALL TIME. So when the Wii's specs where released and when Resident Evil 5's platforms were released, we knew this wouldn't come to Wii. Rumors all ways spread across the Internet about a Wii version and lots of Nintendo fanboys are missing out on a great experience. Should RE5 be on the Wii? Here are my Top 3 reasons why it should and Top 3 reasons why it shouldn't.

YES!!</stron g>

3. Motion Controls: The Wii edition of RE4 had the best controls out of all 3 versions of Resident Evil 4.

2. Sales: Obviously, Nintendo fans like zombies. Resident Evil 4 sold 1.6 million copies on the GameCube, and 1.4 million copies on Wii. Umbrella Chronicles sold 1.25 million copies on Wii. The remakes sold well as well.

1. They Could Correct Anything Wrong From the PS3 and 360 Version: They could fix what critics pan about the 360 and PS3 version and make it perfect. Like the lack of the ability to manage your A.I's (Sheva) items and weapons on the fly. And make the A.I for Sheva a little better.

NO!!!!

3. Graphics</str ong>: If Capcom used the RE4 engine for RE5 Wii, well that is like using a PS1 engine for a Wii game (Oh, wait, Ubisoft already did that. FAR CRY VENGEANCE, the game sucked). Unless they used the Wii's power to the full extent ( http://revoeyes.blogspot.co... http://revoeyes.blogspot.co... then they could make the graphics needed for this game look as bad as Dead Rising Wii.

2. File Size and Load Times: The PS3 install for RE5 is 5 GBs of data. Since Nintendo made the (dumb) decision to make the Wii memory only half a gigabyte (I wish they made it 10 GBs) the load times for the Wii edition could be very long. Unless they did what they did for the Resident Evil 2 N64 port (when lots of enemies appeared on screen, the resolution would change and become smaller.) or some magic like that, we could see very slow load times.

1. Lack Of Great Online Service: The Wii version would miss some DLC and some online features. Friend Codes wouldn't ruin it (random matches!!) but would hinder the experience.

What do I think? It makes sense to release it on the Wii if they did it right (I'm looking at you Dead Rising). If they "Chop Till' You Drop" ified it, it would suck. Chop Till You Drop took out a lot of features that made the 360 version a better experience. Including the photography in the game (Frank West is a photo-journalist. Why take out the camera???) They could get around all those problems and make a good version on the Wii. It would make sense in terms of how much it would sell.

Final Thoughts: Sure, if they would do it right.

But if they didn't do this, what should do they do. They should make a game similar to RE4 (by that I mean without using the RE4 engine. Capcom should kill that) and make a new title. A side-story title like Code: Veronica. It would satisfy Nintendo owners without RE5 and would be an excuse not to put RE5 on Wii. Unless it uses the RE4 engine and does what the link says or is NOT</spa n> a sequel to Umbrella Chronicles, ( http://revoeyes.blogspot.co... http://revoeyes.blogspot.co... they could make a great game. Oh, and Resident Evil 6 (in my opinion) should be released on Nintendo's next system (Wii 2) and the next Xbox, and the PS3 as a launch title. Thtat would be great.

Update:

After playing through RE5 I absolutely hated it, making this entire blog completely pointless............

MrNintendo96, while you make some very excellent points you fail to see that while RE5 is very beautiful, its a hollow shell of its former self.RE4 is the best and last iterations of a once beloved game series and RE5 doesn't deserve to be on the Wii.I've added Capcom to the list of lazy half-assed third party developers who only feign interest in my console of choice just to make a quick buck rather than produce quality.I'd trade the awful memory of Chop til' you drop for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom any day. They should have released that in America because that's how a AAA third party title should be on the Wii.end rant

I bought re4 wii and the controls are what make it brilliant. Couldn't imagine playing with a clunky dual analogue scheme.

I would buy re5 wii over re5 360/ps3.

Just look at Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Wii, Ghost Buster game for Wii, Dead Rising game for Wii, Call Of Duty 5 (no COD4? mmmmmm) etc.... They are like completely different games! Now imagine RE5, one of the most graphical intensive game of the year, how can you create something similar on the Wii when all these companies couldn't? And with game that don't present greater graphics detail than RE5.

Don't expect to have every multi-plat of the X360/PS3 on Wii because not all the devs are that cheap to make a mega crappy ports that seems like completely different games, and beside, why would you want to play a significally inferior game anyway? The Wii-mote is not that good anyway, pretty overrated if you ask me. People buy the Wii for stupid games like Wii-play, Wii-fit and Guitar Hero so, what would be the point at the end?

The Wii has very good games but not a single one coming from X360/PS3 ports. Is just that when devs make a game for X360/PS3 they aren't taking into consideration the Wii-mote because these 2 consoles are being played with regular-old-fashion-controller s. Wii needs game to be specifically created around the controller to work well.

The reason these games sucked are that the developers didn't use the Wii's technology very well. Remember that Resident Evil 4 worked very well with motion control, and RE5 is just RE4 with flashy graphics and co-op. If they did it well, they could do it perfectly. Some ports work well.

MoH: H2 was actually a port from a PSP game. It worked very well on the Wii.

Wrong reply...

Your last comment sounded more like whining then proving a valid point. In the future it would be best not to stoop to that level, your better than that. All of those games though inferior to their originals have found somewhat of a niché on the Wii.I guess they must sell well because those developers keep cranking out ports rather than have a dedicated team hand the Wii version.I enjoyed MOH:H2 much better than the PSP build but still it would've truly something special had it been built from the ground up.

This is one of the few times I actually agree with you mrnintendo96

Capcom could quite easily bring RE5 to the Wii as RE5 is pretty much just RE4 with HD graphics.

RE5 doesn't do any of the advanced physics, animations, destructability or AI that the 360 and PS3 can handle but which the Wii is incapable of.
The game plays a lot more like a Wii game than an HD console game.

RE5 only uses a modded RE4 engine so all Capcom would need to do to get it running on Wii would be lower the poly count, textures and number of enemies on screen and you'd have your Wii version.
(Not sure if you'd be able to keep the drop in drop out online co-op experience working as well though. Wii is a bit weak when it comes to online. Maybe they could implement a method with friend codes, but the trouble would be knowing if you had any friends already playing online. It would be an issue anyway.)

Personally, I've played the demo, which according to IGN plays exactly the same as the full version, and I wasn't impressed. I won't be getting it.
If I were you I'd be much more excited for Dead Space even if it's going to be a rail shooter.
And that is because the Dead Space devs know what fear is. Capcom don't. That knowledge seems to have been forgotten since the older REs, and I think they have confused tension with frustration.
