Can Konami cope?

Tomorrow morning at 0:00am will see the beginning of a new era in the Metal Gear Solid series, with this new era will also be the beginning of the end, does Snake get killed off after a long Metal Gear Solid life?

Tomorrow morning sees the launch of Metal Gear Solid Online Beta, a beta that lasts only 2 weeks, from 21st April to 6th May, i am eager to get my hands on this after a lifelong wait and will be having a ´beta party´ with my fellow 666 clan members at midnight to bring MGSO in with a bang.

What troubles me though, call me paranoid if you may, is the Konami ID servers. The website for Konami ID suffered a lot and ended up crashing with all of the traffic and left many people spending hours trying to register only to be getting so far through the process to be met by an error. I dont know if Konami had underestimated the huge fan base of the Metal Gear Series or it was nothing to do with Konami at all but if Konami cant keep a website up and running for a few days the beta could go terribley balls up. When the hour turns 0:00 there will be a hell of a lot of people logging onto the servers and if Konami are not prepared again the whole beta could crash and may even take a few days to be fixed, these few days are priceless in a 14 day beta and a lot of people can lose faith with the company for these kinds of mistakes.

My fingers are crossed all goes well though, i hope Konami realise how badly hit their servers will be and there are extra measures in place to cover the ´what ifs´. If all goes well, i and 666 will see you guys on MGSO for a unforgettable night not only for gamers but also the first time MGS has graced the next gen scene.

they better fix things by the time the full game rolls around. Allthough MGS is about the single player first and foremost, and from all the previews, it's going to be one helluva epic game.

You have more than a million people flooding there servers, and an estimate of about 20,000 beta testers, it's not going to cope unless people start to ḟuck off, pardon the french.

Thing is, if you haven't gotten the code by now, your not going to get it, stop flooding the servers. At least now when MGO launches, Konami is aware of the massive numbers there gonna be racking up, so expect substantial server upgrades in the very near future.

It was a mistake to make the Beta free in Europe, because all the US players were able to easily obtain it with UK accounts (a lot of my friends did this). They should have kept this beta private or PREPARED for a public beta since that is what they made it.

This is what happens when Konami uses their own, crappy servers and not the PSN.

halo 3 had the same issue. was it xbox live servers or bungie, i dont know but tehy didn't prepare themselves and it caused some problems for a while. at least this is in beta stage and will be fixed before final release.
