2016 Will Be Great For Console Gaming

Hello everyone, this is my first blog post, also English it's not my native language, please sorry for any mistakes that may occur on the text.

Anyway, looks like we will have a great year for games, so many titles are planned to be released in 2016 for all the platforms.
Big multiplaform franchises are coming, games like Mass Effect: Andromeda, Yooka-Laylee, Dark Souls 3, The Division, Doom, Far Cry Primal, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and the list goes on.

Probably a new Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed as well, that's for sure, ha! Maybe finally we will be allowed to play Final Fantasy XV.

This blog post will focus more on exclusives for consoles, that's the main reason why we want to play on more than one platform, and i think that Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft are bringing great reasons for gamers to invest on consoles made by them.

Let's start with Sony.

Looks like 2016 will be the best year for PS4, so far, so many exclusive games are expected to be released for the platform. But let's start talking about the PSVR, many gamers are expecting a new way to enjoy games, and all the VR devices are being praised by the industry. We can expect interesting games exclusive for PSVR, titles like Rigs and Robinson.

Some games will be also compatible for VR, games like the new Tekken, Ace Combat and probably No Man's Sky.

But i'm really excited for games like: The Last Guardian, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Persona 5, Ratchet & Clank, Alienation, Dreams, The Tomorrow Children, Nier: Automata, Gran Turismo, What Remains of Edith Finch.

Sony will release your big guns this year, a new Uncharted and Gran Turismo, i wonder how many more devices they will sell this year.
PS4 gamers will have a busy year.

Nintendo

Wii U it's not the favorite console this generation based on the sale numbers, but i'm having a great time with the device and i'm sure that Nintendo gamers are satisfied with the exclusives released for the platform. Amiibos are cool to collect as well.

It's a great investiment for the exclusives alone, games like: Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, Captain Toad, Bayonetta 2, Splatoon, Xenoblade, Yoshi's Wooly World. Some people agree that Wii U has the best exclusives right now.

But what about this year?
We are expecting for more details of NX, probably Nintendo will have a busy E3. I'm wondering if NX will be released this year too, who knows?

But let's not forget about Wii U yet, two major games are coming for the platform, a brand new Zelda and Star Fox, two franchises that many gamers are willing to play a new game.

Microsoft

Xbox One will have a lot of exclusives this year as well, i like how Phil Spencer is trying to bring diversity for the platform, maybe finally we will have the classic Rare back, because Killer Instinct is back, also Rare Replay.

Franchises like Gears of War and Crackdown are coming back this year, also new games like Scalebound, Quantum Break, Recore, Cuphead, Sea of Thieves. Xbox One users could help me on the comments and list more games that are coming, but i think you get the main idea, many games are coming for XOne.

I probably forgot some games or features for the three consoles, but the main point of this post is that consoles are alive and doing great.

What else are you looking for in 2016?

NX reveal, great exclusives from both Playstation and Xbox and a good year for third party and I'm sure there's still a lot of unrevealed games too, shaping up to be a good year

He left off two of my most looked forward to games this year. Persona U and Pokken. With those I am so far going to give the edge to Nintendo for "most" exclusives I want to for sure play BUT Sony hands down has the game I am most looking forward to with Horizon: Zero Dawn. It really is going to be an awesome year!

*Sorry for my lack of Xbox enthusiasm, I don't own one. But I am sure some of those games are going to be swag too.

Yea the author forgot a lot of games. I'm not sure what the point of this post is except for saying it's going to be a great year for gamers on all consoles. Happy new year everyone.

Germany73054d ago

That's the point exactly, lol, just saying that will be a great year for console gaming.

OB1Biker3054d ago (Edited 3054d ago )

Yea I mean anyone can write up a small opinion piece in 10 minutes saying that and giving a few anticipated games there's no real point to it. Would be interesting for example to argue it will be a great year specially because of exclusive games and do some research to write a comprehensive list of games that could release this year.

But then again its a blog and he can pretty much write whatever he wants within certain limitations.

2016 is going to be awesome. nuff said.

Gazondaily3053d ago

Sharing your sentiment that you're excited for the gaming landscape this year is not pointless. It doesn't have to feature an exhaustive list of games either.

2016 looks like it will be an exceptionally great year and I agree with the op. Its good to be optimistic!

2016 is the year the JRPG genre returns to consoles. If is a Square Enix JRPG it most likely come to pc 😸. It will also be a great year for the PS4, due to is bringing some interesting exclusives like Dreams, Let it Die, something Fitch, etc. It will also be a great year for PC gamers. PC gaming is getting some awesome exclusives like:

Rollercoaster Tycoon World
Planet Coaster
Tides of Numera
Consortium 2
P.A.M.E.L.A
Allison Road
Ashes of Singularity

Overall a great year for gamers

Pogmathoin3053d ago

Crackdown 3, Quantum, and many others... No Mans Sky on PS4..... And I wonder what awesome Fallout DLC.......

Ruggadagod3053d ago

JRPGs never left bruh. Why do people keep saying this?

s45gr323053d ago

I know that but what I am saying is the JRPG genre is making a huge splash this year. The last JRPG on consoles was Final Fantasy 14. There have a couple of indie jrpgs here and there. But 2016 is the year that 10 or more JRPGs are coming to consoles and that has not happen since the PS2 days. Besides last generation about 20 or less JRPGs made it to console. Another reason why I say the JRPG genre has return to consoles.

Vegamyster3050d ago

Ya forgot Xcom 2, previews look great so far.

Ruggadagod3053d ago

Again you are wrong. JRPGs always come out but they aren't as big as FF. Hardly any JRPG series are as big as FF. I think your nostalgia is clouding your mind.

What I would give for a Bloodborne 2... I haven't beaten a game 5+ times in a row since... jesus, Diablo 2?

Notorious_BFG3040d ago

It's weird. I prefer Dark Souls 1 and 2. But I've had an easier time continuously playing Bloodborne. There's enough differences where I hope they both continue with long successful franchises.
