How did MS win E3 again?

Here we go again, another year, another E3, and another swarm of biased fanboy articles flooding N4G. As opposed to spamming the news section w/ propaganda, I decided to post this in the blog section, where articles of this nature truly belong.

Now let me just start off by saying I do think that Microsoft won the last 2 E3's, but I can not bring myself to believe that they had the best showing this year. And instead of just making a bunch of sweeping generalizations(as I've noticed alot of fanboys doing, on both sides), I will back them up w/ my reasoning.

What E3 comes down to for me is the games. You can talk functionality all you want, but w/o the games, its a moot point. I really felt like this was on of the 360's weaker showings, strictly speaking software. Here's how I see their lineup:

Splinter Cell - From the small portion we saw at E3, the progression looks linear, and the gameplay is pretty familiar. And that spot and mark skill where you just pop out from behind a door and kill like 3-4 dudes, now that's just cheap. One thing is for sure, this game has a healthy competitor in Assasin's Creed. Not to mention, it is also available on PC.

L4D2 - The first one was sparse enough on content, and even worse, the console version was 60$ and it never got patched like the PC version, which, by the way, was only 50$ and no charge to play online. Here is another 360 game available on PC, where you're probably better off playing it.

Alan Wake - While we don't know much of what the story has in store for us, the gameplay left more to be desired. Its definetly a testosterone driven game, I was under the impression it was going to be more than that. For a game that prides itself on its writing team, I think its kind of obvious that they're borrowing from the movie 'In The Mouth Of Madness'. And if you're sensing a theme here, yes, it will also be available on PC.

Forza 3 - This year is already oversaturated w/ racing sims. Forza 3 marks the 4th one to be released. There is a lot of controversy surrounding this game. For one, the two discs support the whole theory that DVD9 is an inadequate medium. Then you have the developers falsly claiming it runs at 1080p @ 60fps. And what's the groundbreaking new feature - A movie editor!? They spent the last 1/3 of their presentation showing us the movie editor!

Halo ODST - Isn't anyone else getting burnt out on Halo already? I know I am. And what exactly is so different about this game from Halo's 1-3? For a game that was originally not supposed to be full price, I don't think MS did enough to justify its price. And what was up w/ the 3rd person views? That was the most promising thing I saw, and they never touched on it! Why buy this game when you could just rent it and beat the SP?

Halo Reach - Like I said, isn't anyone getting burnt out of this game yet? They're starting to release one like every six months. I really think the Sony R* exclusive overshadowed the Halo Reach announcement. We all know that when Sony and R* get together, amazing things happen. Now we find out that R*'s biggest new IP is going to be a PS3 exclusive, that will most likely go head to head w/ Halo Reach at the end of next year. Unlike Halo:Reach though, Agent is a completely new game we haven't played before. This could easily surpass GTA.

Mass Effect 2 - Its a well known fact that when Mass Effect 1 was released on the 360 it was ridden w/ glitches. It wasn't until months later that they finally updated it w/ a patch, and by that time, the far superior PC version came out. The difference this time is the PC and Console version will drop simultaneously.

Crackdown 2 - Wasn't really a fan of this game the first time I played, when it was called STREETS OF LA!!!!!!

So there you have it. Those are MS's big game announcements, and the closest thing they have to a GOTY contender(Mass Effect 2 coming out in 2010) will probably be better on PC.

So in contrast, let me just   quickly list off the plethera of titles announced for PS3:

GOTY Contenders:GoW3, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, FF14, Agent, The Last Gaurdian, and GT5.

On top of that we have Ratchet and Clank2, Ninja Gaiden2 Sigma(w/Co-op), Demon Souls, White Knight Chronicles, Fat Princess, Modnationracers,  MAG, FFversus, and Quantum Theory all dropping in the near future.

Then look at how they are pretty much stepping to the forefront of handheld gaming. The PSP go is the most revolutionary handheld ever to be concieved, it works like a cel phone, you have service where ever you go, and you can stream games and other media.

The lineup for the PSP is also jaw droppingly good, its getting Assassin's Creed, GT, Resident Evil, MGS, Fat Princess, and a Socom game that sports 4player co-op and mp.

On a sidenote, MS's announcement of Twitter and Facebook was completely insignificant - the PS3 has had this capability since launch - its called a web browser, and its capable of a heck of a lot more stuff than getting on facebook like a 16 year old girl!

Just because you make it a blog post doesn't make you sound any more convincing. Sorry, but all you're doing is reinforcing the stereotype that gamers make terrible writers and that PS3 fanboys make terrible negotiators. On a sidenote, HipHopGamer is on the prowl for idiots like you to contribute to his cesspool of bilge so dream big! :D

Well, I think I'm gonna have to take your response w/ a grain of salt, for someone who's screenname is NIKE, you obviously don't think outside of the box to often.

News flash, this is a gaming site, not footlocker.com, why don't you pick a relevant screen name?

What drove you to pick Nike anyways? Was Puma already taken?
