Non-Gamers Do Not Understand Sometimes

To all those people who said that ‘gamers’ are wasting their time with comparing graphics or ‘Who has the better console’ contest, do not really understand us. We are human; we tend to not admit defeat because the console we bought with our OWN money will always be the console we know that is the best choice for us. A slight hint of defeat with either one of those console can cause tons of complaints. This ‘parity’ that companies use for the gaming community to stop fighting will still not stop the war. Why? Because they know that their console can do better than the other console and they will complain that their games are being ‘downgraded’ due to parity. Human nature, we all have it.

It wasn't a big problem back then during the Ps2 golden era. Most people I met before would have a Ps2 in their shelves or having their kids play it. No one complained because they know that Ps2 was the best. But then, Xbox 360 came. Everyone was excited for the next-gen. This was 360’s era after Ps2’s era. Everyone was so crazy to buy and try out new games with better graphics and a faster system. Then, Ps3 came in, the competitor to Xbox 360. Everyone started getting the Ps3 and thought it was the best. But people who owned 360 weren’t satisfied and the console war started. They didn’t want PlayStation to win again.

Now, this generation, new consoles are here. Honestly, Xbox One and Ps4 are both great console systems. They have their pros and cons. Xbox for exclusives and online services. PS for better in multiplats and also exclusives.

Example: Xbox One has Forza Horizon 2 which is a great open-world racing game, and Ps4 has Driveclub which has mind-blowing graphics for a racing game. Both are different but people still compare. Both are exclusives and both shows the potential of each console so people will argue which console handles racing genre better. In my opinion, both consoles can run any type of game if optimized and made with patience and love. No rushing, that ruins the game.

In terms of Nintendo (Wii and Wii U), they are actually great consoles that are meant for fun. I couldn’t take an action adventure game seriously while playing Wii. BUT Nintendo has legendary games like Mario and Donkey Kong. If you love those, buy a Wii or Wii U.

PC is the best and had always been the best for gaming- Fact. No one complains because it is. But if I just want to have to pop in a disc and start playing with basic controls, I prefer consoles.

I will have to point out to the PARENTS that you have to protect and observe what your child plays. Anyone can play video games, you’re not too old or too young, you just have to find the right game to play that suits your age.

GAMES TEACHES US. I’ve actually been getting better in Math and English because of the help of games. Math because of social games that does trade & sales and English due to great storylines that I always listen and focus to. But for bad and unsuitable games, I try avoiding. But there’s ups and downs. Example GTA V, it teaches you not to give up, even though you’re old or young but if you’re a team, you can achieve your goal together. The downside though is the sexual and bad language but I try my best to not follow.

Everyone can voice out their own opinions or argue whenever they want because it shows that the gaming community is still alive and shows how people do love their consoles and the company who makes them. Sometimes peace is boring and we want hype. Either be happy with what you have or just regret it because we all have our own ways and we choose our own life! I don’t actually care what people say that I’m a gaming nerd because at least I do something in my life instead of lying down on the couch with chips. (It’s like I’m exercising my hands with the controllers. Okay? Don’t judge. :P)

In the end, we are all gamers. We don’t care what people say about us, we have our own life.

Good opinions and viewpoints for the most part.
I think many people are way too critical and I agree that there is no right or wrong answer for who likes what. We all have our preferences.

Just like there is no perfect woman for ALL men.. we all have our priorities and preferences, and so do women, with men- And- (sad that I have to be politcally correct or else face backlash from self inflicted Victim stance humanoids and P.C. Police types with nothing to do but point out flaws because they ACTIVELY go looking for them) the same thing applies with the Gay and Lesbian communities with each other as well!

Let's stop bashing the ugly duckling all the time. Because, when he grows up, he might be more handsome and accomplished then we will ever be.
Hating is for losers.

So are you a loser for hating on Haters? Does that make me a loser for hating on a hater that's hating on haters? Haha nah man I am just messing around. I agreed.

Actually non-gamers do understand, they just don't know it.

Pretty much all hobbies have some measure of competition involved in them. Hell, even reading books can be competitive when you factor in favourite authors and why said authors are favoured.

Sports, Games, Art, you name it. Everyone has something they favour and something else they detest. If you like something someone else detests, then you'll see different forms of fanboyism.

I love swords, and you should see the HUGE fanboyism for Katanas among sword fans. So many people say it is the perfect sword, but it really isn't. Try telling a katana fanboy that though.

So really, it's no different in other areas of interest save for what you're comparing.

I understand your point of view but reality is that graphics matter and console hardware play a big part.

If the likes of MGS4 or Uncharted 2 didnt had great graphics ppl, including myself, would lose alot of interest for those games.

Graphics play a much bigger role in games today than ever before you cant deny it.The quality of the game is another story but competition (or the so called console wars) made the consoles quite improved on what they were before.

PC gaming is not the best. Don't know why you said that was fact

'No one complained because they know that PS2 was the best'.

I didn't buy one until much later as a curiousity to play some survival horrors that I hadn't played.

But for those the Gamecube served me well (had Resident Evil 4 before PS2 did- and the GC version looked slightly better) and I also had the original Xbox.

The PS2 technically had the worst tech specs of those consoles (technically better than the Dreamcast though of course but even there early PS2 games looked worse- plus Dreamcast had some great exclusives).

Although, being complicated Sony hardware, the PS2 did have some subtle graphical tricks which made beautiful games like Final Fantasy possible which probably would have looked less delicately beautiful on Xbox's heavy handed architecture (and probably wouldn't have fit on Gamecube's tiny discs if it was to have lots of FMV although a few games on GC did come on 2 discs).

The PS2 started the groundwork but only the PS3 could cement it because it was the first time that Sony had the most powerful console of its generation.

Regarding the article, it's painful trying to be understood by non-gamers. As far as they're concerned, it's no more meaningful than any other fun activity (which they are probably more likely to also look down on a bit).
They haughtily and coldly look down on it as a naive pursuit that gets you nowhere in the real world.
Yet only of the only ways to judge that is to look at what job THEY do. Are they really businessman of the year? Would a bit of fun in their soul help their imagination and society?
