Collector's Edition
I'm no collector, so I never look twice at the more expensive versions. Only time I even consider it is for online games, and only if the gift is more than cosmetic. View

Hells yeah, post-apocalyptic sci-fi MMO is just what the doctor ordered in a genre over-populated with dwarves, elves, and magic armor. View

I don't think either Resistance 2 or Gears 2 is attracting as much attention as this game. What a strange world the gaming industry has become: two alien shoot-em-ups are being overshadowed by a cute platformer. View

What they really need to do is make a line of Sackboy dolls and sell them in a bundle with a copy of the game. People would buy a copy even if they didn't have a PS3. View

I expected an open beta test, honestly, not this invite-only "WE HAVE 5,800 INVITES FIRST COME FIRST SERVED OH GOD OUR SERVERS" crap. View

How many people in this thread are actual jounalists?
Can't say for certain, but I can point toward at least one who is most certainly *not* a trained journalist.

Kenjix got it right: you will never see a newspaper reporting on scuttlebut and hearsay because unless they have evidence one way or the other, it's not worth reporting. Considering how easy to approach MS's PR people are, the least Kotaku could have done is reported on their statement.

There's nothing really wrong with what Kotaku did (or Joystiq for that matter), since none of them hold themselves to any degree of journalistic integrity; really, most people don't care and read anyway. Credibility is something most, if not all, game news sites lack, and until someone steps up and refuses to report on rumors without some real confirmation, we'll be nothing more than game "journalists." DLC is still pretty restrictive... a lot of people don't even connect their consoles to the net, so a disc-release seems pretty smart on their part.

You do bring up a good point, though; why not sell the game as an expansion to the original, and offer it as a download as well? They'd get the same sales as a stand-alone title (if not more, since it would be cheaper) and then also get people to buy the original game on top of it. View

Real World: Rock Band?

Way to miss the point
If all you know is what a politician or talking head has told you, you're just as ignorant as he is. That's the reality of media and politics: unless you're in it, you only know what they want you to know, and it's unlikely that either side wants you to know the whole story. View

From what I've read, they tend to consolidate a group of rumors together and gather all the info from other sites into one place, and if they have info of their own, they add that in to place a verdict on it. Their predictions are at least reasonable... I think they were wrong about Sony not developing a proprietary headset, but I can't think of any other times when they were wrong. View

Tapped?
I don't see his point... he says there's a lot of room to innovate, and there will undoubtedly be prettier games as engineers get some time to fiddle with the system. Sounds like they're nowhere near maxing it out. View
