GOTY 2009

Ok so pretty much everything is out (or coming soon) that's competing for GOTY (FF13 Japan only so no mention since I can't play it).  Fall 2009 my not have been full of blockbusters, however, there have been many of them over the year.  These games are sure to be up for GOTY for 2009, now vote for the winner.  (Left4Dead 2 wasn't included, because even though it's insane fun it's not a full gaming experience like Uncharted 2 or COD, it's more like Warhawk.)

Batman Arkham Asylum

Assassin's Creed 2 (Already has a perfect score from PS Magazine and a 9/10 from Xbox magazine UK.)

2 - The year isn't over yet.
And I am still waiting to play 2 of those and Demon Souls as a personal preference is in the top 5 this year (so far), but best so far is Uncharted 2.

The nominees on here are all games that received an average score of 90 or more (unfortunately I had to use metacritic). But I'm going to do another one, possibly titled n4g GOTY awards which will definitely be based off pure enjoyment and have nothing to do with review scores.

I know I really enjoyed inFamous, but it had it's share of problems. It seriously needed a patch to get rid of a bunch of the glitches in the game, and while it was a great game it's just not GOTY material, that doesn't mean it won't be up for GOTY in other categories, since I'm dumping this blog, and doing another format. Check it out I've already done the Fighting GOTY Award.

8 - just a thought but....
are'nt Exclusives at a disadvantage as they're only accessible to one console? Not really up on the finer points of GOTY selection.
Appreciate anyone putting me straight. So wouldnt that hand it to MW2 ?
Or should I file my concerns under "not an issue" !?lol

GOTY: Uncharted 2.. Nothing even comes close to beating this.

1)Best FPS: I personally would pick KZ2, but know the media will give it to MW2...
2)Best Racing game: Forza 3 (Well it's the best you've got till GT5 lands)
3)Best RPG: Demon Souls (really good game)
4)Best superhero (lol new category): Batman or Infamous (I personally would vote Infamous, but AA was awesome as well).
5)Best TPS: Uncharted 2 (lol again).
6)Best Arcade game: Fat princess or Shadow Complex (Didn't play SC, but have heard good things).
7)Best open world game: Till now, Infamous, but I think AC2 will take the thrown as it looks really great this time.
8)Best Arcade fighter: SF4.

Disappointments of 2009 (till now):
1)ODST (hardly any new content and hailed as a good game).
2)MW2 (played it at my friends house... Looks pale, short campaign and ACTIVISION!!!!!)
3)Prototype (high expectations, but turned out to be a bad game with no story and crap graphics)
4)RE5 (Seriously, I couldn't even get beyond adjusting the controls, let alone enjoying the game)
5)Borderlands (I love Fallout 3, but BL blew up with arcady style gameplay... Good weapons collection though).
6)Halo Wars.... Yet another milked title that blew up in M$'s face, seriously Console and RTS CANNOT be said in the same statement)

Sleeper Hit:
Demon Souls, Batman (every one thought another movie game, but this one was good)...

Upcoming:
AC2 (Really looks awesome this time around.... Plus nice graphics always are welcomed.)
L4D2 (Looks good, but will buy it for PC for all the mods =) )

1) Correct on that one, MW2 will win.
2) Forza 3 or NFS Shift. GT5 wil win next year.
3) Probably will win.
4) Nominees would be: Cole McGrath, Alex Mercer & Batman. Hard Choice.
5) That title will win.
6) Close decision between those titles.
7) Infamous, AC2 or Prototype. Looks like AC2
8) SF4, Tekken 6. SF4.
9) Best Sports Game/Extreme Sports: Madden 10, NHL 10, Skate 2

The Disappointments
I'll agree with you on mots of them. MW2 does have a very short campaign, but it don't not look pale. And I have to outright disagree with you on Borderlands. Prototype does have a story and not the greatest graphics.

I added Borderlands mainly cause I went in expecting too much. It was deemed as something Fallout 3 should have been, but frankly although Fallout 3 was slow paced, it was better IMO.. I am blowing it a little bit to much saying Biggest disappointment, but for me it didn't live up to the hype (at least the hype which It created inside me about being this years best RPG)...

Prototype was frankly nothing more than Hulk revamped.... I say no story, since I played the game after Infamous and frankly as compared to Infamouses deep story and Karma, the game didn't match up... It was fun running on buildings for the first 2-3 hours, but then it became the same old too repetitive... And the graphics made my eye hurt.. SERIOUSLY....

MW2 in there not cause of multi-player (it still rocks), but single player is too short... I say pale cause I played it after Uncharted 2 lol and compared to that the game is nowhere near as good looking.. It's just me, but Killzone 2 and UC2 have really spoilt me lately....

Oh add Terminator in the list of disappointments as well.... 3 hours lol. Get it only if you want an easy Platinum lol.

Never played Brutal Legends is it good? Not really into Rock and stuff....

Also don't know much about Saboteur.. Isn't it that Black and Red game??? Would watch out for some reviews.... But I still think that after MW2, now the biggest game left in these last 2 months is AC2... I am telling you, from what I have seen the game looks really awesome... Only remove the repetitiveness from 1 and you have a great game..

I think you got it pretty much nailed on darkeyes but I think Dragon age may get RPG. Also Tekken 6 was better than SF4 have you noticed how we have hardly had any arcade fighting games this year? No DOA or Virtua Fighter made it a bad year for competition.

I can understand racing game of the year stealth GOTY etc
But how are you gonna sayin forza was beat by uncharted 2 or mw2 its really silly...
It Should be Game dev of the year
Forza 3 is packed to the brim with content(2disk)plus reedem colde dlc
and is fun it has not been taken out my xbox since i brought it

uncharted 2 i can't say much about as i do not own a ps3 but news is its amazin but how are we puttin tomb raider against driving games it don't make sence

thats why i think the award should go to the dev team that puts in work grinds out amazin content brings somefink new to the table and supports its game

racing sim vs 1stfps vs rpg it makes no sense and i knw uncharted is not an rpg i was just sayin

Left 4 Dead 2 (I consider it a full game since it has at least as much content as L4D1)

Not so sure about the fifth one. I would say Killzone 2 or SFIV, but I still have to play Batman: AA, TBOGT, Tekken 6, and too many PS3/Wii exclusives to even bother naming right now.

ODST was ****ing horrible.
MW2...I just don't know.
Forza 3 would've been up there, but there are too many glitches and the menus are a nightmare to navigate through. The Storefront is great, though.
