You are correct. Super Mario Bros 2 was released but only in Japan. It is referred to as "The Lost Levels" everywhere else. It was decided by Nintendo that Super Mario 2 was too "difficult" for the American gaming audience at that time.

So Nintendo just added the Super Mario characters to a different platformer and released it in the US. View

All of these people above me should be should be reported except for Skerj. They don't even comment on the article. Which is actually a good article and just try and cause some sort of fight. It really is sad. View

It was kind of weird
to put the Metroid sequel on the Gameboy. Although I always counted Super Metroid on Snes as the true sequel. And there isn't an older boxing game around the same time period as NES that can beat the original Mike Tyson's Punchout.

I thought Strider 2 was good though, even thought the original is still far better in my book. View

I do have Nintendo DS...and yes they do have good RPGs. I also am looking forward to to Contra 4. But this article is about 360, PS3, and Nintendo Wii...

Do you see the difference?? View

For Price
and games catalog Xbox 360 is a good deal. It has been out far longer than both the PS3 and the Wii. A lot of the older released games from last year can now be bought at bargain prices.

Not to mention Mass Effect is just on the horizon. I am an RPG fan...and the 360 has a decent selection this year...Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, and also Lost Odyssey is coming out just after Christmas. Both other consoles do not have a good line-up of RPGs coming out this year. However I do like Twilight Princess on the Wii. View

The list would be better
if Hellgate wasn't on it. I am a 360 fan and even I think that Ratchet or Uncharted are better games than that. Being a long time PC fan I think Hellgate is average at best. View

I think it is funny how everyone accuses you of having multiple accounts. The only 2 people I know of that do are Lightning and Shmee/Nasim. View

I do agree that
the 360 and Wii do have more "well known" IP's this year to push console sales. Halo and Mario are industry top sellers.

I'm not saying that PS3 doesn't have any games. It just doen't have the "well known" IP's coming out until next year. New IP's are a good thing but aren't usually console pushers like the heavy hitters. View

Indeed
Mass Effect is going to be something special. The original KOTOR is one of my favorite RPGs to date. Jade Empire was also good. I have a feeling they won't let me down. View

You were right. I put the better video first. And added the poorer quality vid to the embed. The game looks really good. It even looks like Ubisoft has beefed up the combat system. View

These commercials
bring back fond memories. Who could forget the first time they ever encountered Octoroks, Tectites, and Leevers. The original Legend of Zelda was truly a groundbreaking game. View

I don't think so
The Zelda games have always been synonimous with quality. Normally they take more than 2 years to develop. I think Crossbow Training is just a quirky side project.

I would bet that Miyamoto had little to no involvement with the title. I am pretty confident that Miyamoto wouldn't let a game be released with the Zelda branding on it unless it was quality.

Kewlkat brilliant post
and bubble for you. I also think that Disney is playing everyone. THey are supporting Blu ray as well as XBLM.

And I also agree that the install base is what dictates everything. It must also be noted though that the install base of the standalone market is the one that is important. These consumers are guaranteed to buy HD movies. Most people that own PS3s do not buy HD movies. There was an article posted on N4G before that it is less than 13%. View

I am not suprised to see Super Mario Galaxy at No 1 spot. I am also glad to see that Mass Effect is on the list.Mass Effect is going to be something really special for RPG fans this year. Bioware hasn't let me down yet.

It is also nice to see Assassin's Creed as well as Call of Duty 4 on the list. Those are definately all top pics to me. View

It is nice to know that the sale
will not be only a clearance sale for the old A-2 units, but will also feature the A-3. This is one of the really big pushes that HD DVD is giving for the holidays.

And for all the people touting 1080P. I good HDTV can deinterlace the signal form to 1080i so it really isn't a big deal. Not to mention it is really hard to spot the difference bw 1080P and 1080i until you start getting into televisions that are 60 inches or larger. On a smaller TV most people couldn't see the difference at all. View

The "mighty" Cell - blown away by nVidia
8th December 2004, by Paul Smith, 372 words, 225 views
Categories: Gaming, Technology

We all heard the talk, that the Cell processor would wipe away all before it. Of course anyone with any knowledge of this kind of technology would see it for what it is, more Sony bullshit. Remember the PS2?

1000 times the power of any PC. 66Gb/s of memory bandwidth. Toy Story graphics in real time. And such & such.

The same kind of outrageous claims were made with this Cell processor which is developed by IBM, Toshiba, and Sony. They claim this to be completely "revolutionary". It's not you can clearly see it's relation to the Playstation 2's processor. In that it's basically lots of weak processors bolted together, the fundamental reason the Playstation 2 is so insanely difficult to develop for and why developers are dropping it and shifting focus to the Microsoft Xbox 360. Which like all Microsoft platforms is notoriously fast and simple to develop for. Allowing developers to spend more time creating decent games instead of struggling to try and get their software to even work.

Just days ago the official press release about this Cell thing was released. The Sony fanboys started cheering, I guess they just never learn do they - and what should happen just yesterday? nVidia released a statement saying their graphics processors would feature in the Playstation 3 and other Sony products.

What happened to the mighty Cell? Sony now have to back-off saying the Cell is all mighty, and require a seperate GPU to handle graphics, yes it's 1000 times more powerful then any PC today, right that's why it can't perform GPU-like operations on it. They need a PC manufacturer to remotely stand a chance of coming up with a better graphics processor then their extremely lacking PS2. The hypocracy! Just a few years ago they were blasting the Xbox because of it using PC hardware, it featured an nVidia NV2A chip (which at the time they seemed to think was a bad thing). Of course nVidia have since been replaced by ATi, as the performance/quality graphics leader of the PC market, ATi winning the contract to develop the GPU for the Xbox 2, which they have now completed.

Sony are still lagging behind. Good luck with your Playstation 3, you're going to need it. View

The article is spot on....
The PS3s fill rate is about half that of the 360, not to mention the memory is crippled. Coders cant even write anything to "main" memory. Also, the PS3 only has "one" core with 7 SPU's not 7 cores. A Core and an SPU are different things. The PS3 is horribly bottlenecked. That is why PS3 games usually look washed out, or have frame rate problems.

It is not optimal for game code. That is why the Cell was rejected by Apple and the entire PC industry. It was just more BS hype like "The Emotion Engine" in the PS2.

The Cell was put in the PS3 for Bluray. The Cell isn't even a games processor. It is found in various other devices like servers. It "can" be used as a games processor, but it doesn't mean it excels at it.

I know the masses will still think it is uber powerful for gaming...The reality is right in front of their face, they just refuse to see it.

Overall the 360 was a machine designed partially by games producers, streamlined just for gaming. It is simple to develop for and can yield good results in a minimal amount of time. Why work harder for "the same results" which will end up costing games producers more money.

The only shortcoming the 360 has is DVD-9, which is easily overcome with just adding a second disk. View

It appears that NA really is a huge Game's market...
PS3 sales have definately increased in the UK. However on a worldwide basis 360 is currently outselling PS3 by a large margin. Over 300,000 consoles a month. We shall see what happens next month with the PS3 having it's pricedrop in NA also, should be interesting... View

I couldn't use the "original" source anymore. It failed approval bc it had SPAM reports and duplicate reports which were all false. Sony fanboys just didn't want this news to get out.....here is the proof
