Developers must be saying, "When you pay all the money it takes to make video games... and to pay developers, graphic artist, and the hundreds of people... then we do just that." Begging is one of those things that will not make a company go, "Ok... just because you say so.. we will"... I would like to make two unrefutable facts.

1) Xbox 360 with a built in HD DVD drive will hurt PS3 sells and blu-ray no matter how you put it. Specially if both Microsoft and Toshiba are willing to sacrify some profits in order to spoil Sony world domination attemps.. and release it cheaper than the PS3. you can scream... Blu-ray wins! Blu-ray for the world!... bla bla bla.." and nothing will change the fact that any device capable of playing HD DVD movies is a variable in the format war.

2) HD DVD can and should be use for games if developers choose to. Why? because there is not technical reason why it shouldnt... Let developers deside if they want to...
"but but... grrrrr... lots of xbox 360 owners will get screwed! ahhhh! ahhhh!" actually no... When developers started to make the transition in gaming from CDs to DVD they released most of their game on both formats... and people picked what they needed. For the most part the option were simple... If you have a DVD player then you buy the DVD version if you don't you buy the CD version. Regardless of the choice if you wanted the game you can pick the format best apply to you.

If this would to happen the new XBox 360 SKU will be able to play shipped on DVD or HD DVD... Developers will only use release (DVD and HD DVD games) only when needed... but only DVD version when there is no need.. saving them the extra cost of making their games on HD DVD format... kind of stupid shipping your game on a 40GB disc when you are only using 4...

Gamers owning an xbox 360 prior to this SKU will be able to pick games like blu-dragon in multiple discs... (hehe.. Metal Gear too... just kidding.. don't kill me)... those that own this SKU can buy the HD DVD version in 1 disc....

Only Sony fanboys will complain about this... it's perfect.. and developers can save money by not being forced to shipped their games on more expensive formats when a standard DVD disc is cheaper to distribute...

The xbox 360 installbase is relatively small... compare to what it can become if the xbox 360 wins the console war... during he lifespan that the HD DVD integration can add to the xbox 360.. at least 6 years... the cost will be reduced and many people will probably (just as they did with the PS2) replace it more than once...

You see... Sony do not give developers the option to develop games using DVD9 even if the game is 5GB...

If microsoft allow developers to shipped their games on DVD or HD DVD then no one will care or be hurt... as matter of fact.. it will stop cold those who say.. that multiple disc is last gen.. since there will be a choice to a single HD DVD disc....

you don't want to buy a new SKU for the sake of not having to have the game in multiple disc? buy DVD games in multiple disc... and benefit from othe extra features like HD DVD movie playback.. examption hard drive... etc.. buy new SKU...

And to make things even worst for those Sony fanboys that will complain... Microsoft can allow people that currently own the external HD DVD player to use it for games...

The only requirement for developers is... they must do what PC developers had to do... supply those people that need the game on DVD9.... Period.

Lots of people are willing to upgrade their xbox 360 for the falcon.. for HDMI... do you actually think... people will have a problem upgrading to these new SKU? I wouldnt...

Just like... Sony can upgrade their controller to support rumble... for future games... microsoft can and should allow HD DVD player to be use for games once an SKU is released with built in HD DVD player..

Finally... Sony is being realistic.. and is starting to learn that a network required to provide such service is not made with potatos and even companies like microsoft which practically don't have to pay license fees to anyone since they make all the software used on xbox live.. from OS to Database applications... and a ton of money to spend is proving to be a challenge... ohh yeah... and let's not forget that Microsoft make money of xbox live which for the most part is able to generate revenues to keep itself alive... How come a hacked machine where people don't need to buy the games is able to sell more games than one that "proved unhackable"?

It's obvious that the xbox 360 being hackable have no effect on software attack rate... which is the biggest worry when it comes to piracy. There will always be piracy.. hackers will always target the product most people use. The system with the most games.. the system worth hacking... If you would to hack the PS3 what games would you copy... lair?

The xbox 360 unlike previous console is a connected platform... all games support some level of xbox live integration... risking getting NOT your console only banned but your account is something that most gamers would not want.

This may be hard to understand for PS3 owners... but creating another account, losing your gamescore, game purchases, friend list, movie purchases and not being able to connect online is not worth messing with your console for... specially in todays time where you can simply subscribe to NetFlix and never have to buy a game if you can't aford it.

Another point I would like to make is hacking does not always hurt the hardware maker... why do you think Sony make the PSP so hackable? They already hacked the slim PSP! Lots of people buy the PSP just to hack it. and it does not matter at all... most PSP games are disconnected.. and online are not needed.

I currently have 2 PSP... one hacked! that I run homebrew apps..and games... (games I own.. hehe)...

I hacked my PS1... and burn games like there is no tomorrow... why? because it didn't matter.. who cares... no online connectivity...
But I would never hacked a 360 or PS3.. not worth it... besides.. now I have a job. View

eventhough the same price... 60 and 80.. I say... buy the 60GB since B.C is better... and don't even think about the 40GB... better spend the extra $100 and get a 60... it's the most complete system.

So it begins... it will be insteresting to see how this unfould and what move Microsoft will be forced to make. Good things come to those who wait... it seems that waiting until the games you want for the PS3 come out can save you up to $200. I wonder if Sony has another price drop in 2-3 months for XMass...

It seems as bad news are raining down on Sony like crazy.... it seems are some big companies (i.e. Paramount) are starting to see that the PS3 is not influencing the format war as much as Sony made it out to be. who was going to say that almost 1 year after the PS3 release... HD DVD is still standing when predictions were... months... and standalone HD DVD drive are still outselling blu-ray drives...

As time goes by it's becoming aparent that both formats may survive at least for a long time and some sort hardware manufacturers will probably have to settle for players that support both formats... if they want people to dive into HD content.. or be hurt by the existance of a divided industry...

Sony will obviously not give up... since they invested everything on blu-ray including the fate of the PS3... (sadly)... HD DVD camp have no reason to give up... since it's backed by some big corporation with big pockets that will do everything it takes to stop Sony from taking their bread and butter... you people make all about microsoft... but let's not forget that Sony is digging into the PC side.. by trying to burry companies like Intel... the PS3 with the Cell will hurt Intel and many hardware makers.. specially PC... if blu-ray is not stopped.. and kill.. it will also affect PC makers like Dell, HP... other entertaintment companies... like TV Cable...

Once the wii drops to record low... what can Nintendo do to boost sells again? Sony still have to deal with these undeniable facts:

XBox 360 new SKU will come with 2 Games.
XBox 360 are still cheaper...
XBox 360 more games (Specially now without B.C).
Microsoft can drop the xbox 360 another $50.00.
Xbox 360 is console to own if for 3rd party games available in both consoles.
Not everyone buying PS3 is buying it to play games.. Infecting the PS3 installbase with owners that bring no benefit to 3rd party dev.. and bringing down the software attach rate.. like companies using the PS3 as servers.. and people buying the PS3 to watch blu-ray movies..

It's obvious now.. what Sony's strategy was... mixing all markets.. business computers... movie industry... and gaming.. until they make it impossible for partners to know what the target audience is and if they can make money... game developers can't tell if their games will sell.. since companies using the PS3 to host website will not play games... or people looking for a low cost blu-ray player that have no interest in games... or movie studios.. can't tell if people owning the PS3 will buy movies .. and companies using PS3 as servers care about movies... Smart... clever... but with time.. it will become obvious to these 3rd party partners.. if the Playstation 3 attack rate translates to revenue.. sadly.. lots of them will get burn.. and lose money before they really get to know.

The fact that Nintendo makes money on hardware sells is an obvious indication that knew eventually the wii will just die out...

the wii was NOT designed with developers or gamers in mind... but with making quick cash at the expense of those that are NOT Gamers and those that were too excited at seing this new revolutionary way of playing games using motion control.. that completely forgot that eventually... the wiimote would not be the novelty it once was.. and casual gamers would simply go back at what they used to do [NOT PLAY GAMES]... Gamers will go past the "WOW WIIMOTE" and focus on games...
In the meantime... $$$ to Nintendo... You know there is something fundamentally wrong when a toy is used for something it was not intented to be use.
This is not necessarily a bad thing for Sony, since there is a big market for servers... The PS3 currently is not configured to be use for this purpose... it has blu-ray drives and other game related components that can be striped out and optimized with business related components like backup, and other stuff that would be better for these companies using the PS3 as servers... Maybe Sony should probably concider other options when it comes to Gaming vs business servers... sounds like they have a market there..

Console maker usually lose money when they sell consoles... now these many consoles used as super computers will never generate a single royalty from games.. meaning that for Sony is just a lost.. also... hurting the stats as far as software attach rate is concern... Developers do like to see a healthy software attach rate before making games for a console.
Sony should make a cheaper to manufacturer server for these companies... so they don't have to continue to lose money and resources in the wrong places.. like adding hardware.. GPU, Blu-ray Drive, Wifi that will never be use...

Like or not... regardless of how much GT developers try to do some pre-release damage control... the fact is that GT will be compared and will go head to head with PGR and Forza... It's innevitable..
The game will be praised on the things it does better than PGR and Forza and flamed on the things it does not. If these features forza have are more important than these so call "Quality" items GT have in the eyes of the reviewers expect them to make lots of noise.

Using Visual Studio 2005 Team system Generate a Unit/System Testing Script and record the steps for generating lots of accounts (100) (easy to do if you have your own exchange or emails)...

Then use Visual Studio to generate another Unit/System Testing script and record he steps for clicking on the red icon(shut this user up) once for each email account... it will emulate (like stress test) a bunch of times... on per each account...

And in case someone goes here and say... uhhh... this site tracks IP addresses... you can easly fix that by dinamically changing the proxy.

I know a few things here and there.. to make people's life misserable... but why would I want to contribute to messing everyone's life up... and making this site worst than it is... for what? bubbles... please...

Great news for xbox 360 owners because they are pretty much getting everything the PS3 gamers are getting.... no exclusive PS3 game.

PS3 games also available on the xbox 360 lack features like achivements, game invites, friend list, etc.

Xbox 360 is still console for all your game related needs.

For the most part 3rd party games are timed exclusive by default for the xbox 360... by weeks, months or unknown... i.e. orange box, TimeShift, etc.

Sure... every price drop will boost sales... specially from those that were waiting for the console to drop... but at the end of the day people buy consoles to play games... and just like the $100 price drop boost PS3 sells during E3 and now are back down... the same effect can happen again with this SKU... because the same fundamental issues of the PS3 are still there....
