I think the bigger story here, and what has been for almost a year, is not really the 360 sales because they'll plummet again eventually (only the immature here will be expecting it to sell more and more all of a sudden based on one game), but the low sales of the PS3. It is anything but a major player right now in Japan. People had assumed it would dominate there along with the Wii but its not really an issue with Sony as much as it is the lack of JRPG's for the machine.
Games sell consoles. Proven fact. We're seeing it here with the 360, and we saw it with MGS4 (and its bundle in the US).
Slow stream of high quality AAA content is holding back the console. Ultimately, though, consoles will be remembered for amount of top quality games and Sony's machine is behind on that front.
