Too Much Sex In Society?
52 days 6 hours ago | by:
Meus Renaissance
A few days ago I came across this widely publicised article study declaring that 1 in 4 teenage girls in the United States have contracted atleast one STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) due to their sex lives and it floored me. A couple days later I read another article where the Dutch want to
legalise
sex in public places, specifically their parks and I'm thinking; what in the world is happening?
I'm sure you've all come across one or few people in your lives who insist that there is too much showing of flesh etc in our times but do these startling facts support that - or am I blowing this out of proportion?
How is that atleast 3million American girls are sleeping around, or have slept with a guy who indulges in multiple sex partners? Have we become a society, of literally, whores?
Ofcourse we all have our limits to what we perceive as offensive or distasteful, as do I, but I think the bigger issue here is not really what is happening but our attitude towards it. We've become so sexually liberal over the past few decades, blanketing that with 'freedom of expression, that we've lost our moral principles. Nowdays we cheer and admire men who make it some sort of personal mission to bed as many women as they possibly can in a week, or women who dress so loosely - they think wearing a transparent-blouse with a thong showing behind this tiny piece of material they see as a mini-skirt as "covering up".
The New York governer who recently resigned in shame was running around prostitutes, whilst his replacement admits that in his marriage he and his wife have had several affairs and shortly afterwards another study is released that in America - almost 25% of marriages suffer from infidelity. And here we are today, desensitized to it all - allowing that to just drop and we forget what is right and what is wrong. Where is the outcry in our society when things like this happen? No where.
We're too busy playing games that they themselves now have begun to reflect society's perception of sex; we become more and more desensitized to it. The media, in our TV shows and movies, will argue that they're just reflecting our world and not encouraging one thing or another but we see them and grow up with them, with the impression that "this is what happens, its okay".
It's not.
There needs to be a change of our attitude and it doesn't seem like too many people either care or really agree that we are too liberal with that subject. I find that depressing.
