The PS3 will start to show its true quality next year, and the 360 will continue to do well. Its not that hard to grasp really? Its a piece of electronics made by a company that most people have nothing to do with, its not a relative, you should be happy there is competitiveness in the market still as it will only cause good things to happen. Most of those plasmas won't even do 720P properly let alone 1080P. They're garbage and you definetly wouldn't pay those prices for a HDTV that can't even do 1280x720. View

Calling Halo 3 - Halo 2.5 basically proves that your opinion isn't of value. I didn't say that Halo 3 was a great game, infact I think it was quite overrated myself. Even if it was "owned" by COD4 - I think you'll find that came out on the 360 as well...

Forza was far from a joke, it was a racing sim, and a very good one at that, GT5 will look better than it, but I doubt it will be anywhere near as realistic in terms of physics (I think I remember reading that the GT5 Devs. even acknowledged this?).
Ask yourself this though... what racing game has the PS3 got out RIGHT NOW, for christmas, not next year, NOW, that is in the same league as Forza? Motorstorm and Ridge Racer? I don't think so.

Warhawk as the best online shooter? Cool, it might be to you, but you still can't invite your friends to play while you're ingame - something that the 360 has been able to do since launch. COD4 is by far the most immersive online shooter I've played in a while, and thats cross-platform so I imagine its just as good on the PS3.

Biosock - I didn't rate it, and didn't buy it.
Gear of War was again an overrated title I completely agree - hence why I got rid of it shortly after purchase.

All of these titles were generally loved by the gaming community and are all titles that make people want to buy consoles.

Oh and you're right, I probably will buy a PS3 when Killzone 2 and GT5 come out, but thats the difference between me and you I'm not tied by loyalty to any company - I just want to play good games.

With the install base its got, its software sales still dwarve the PS3s.

This christmas will probably not be the great success that Sony are hoping for, it'll be closer than last christmas, but I find it hard to believe that people and parents will buy the PS3 this year when the software catalog is still not as strong as the 360s (Yes I know about Drakes and yes I know about bluray). When you compare the software catalog in terms of types of games i.e. FPS, RPG etc then the 360 generally has a better game in each genre.

In the long run the PS3 may start to show a hardware advantage in terms of performance over the 360 next year, when developers have fully got to grips with coding for the cell (and with the new dev tools just released that should make it easier). Until then Sony still face the issue that the games that are out for the console, bar a few exceptions, are still not on a par with the games that helped sell the PS and PS2. View

Well its christmas coming up... Put yourself in the parents position, all the Wii will have sold out (already have in the UK), and then whats your next choice going to be?

PS3 bundles are still relatively expensive when you compare it to the 360 bundles that are available, and the 360 has many more "AAA" titles available(I hate the phrase AAA) and the pre-owned games are generally cheaper. With the release of Halo 3 and Mass Effect I unfortunately think its still going to be a tough christmas for Sony.

Theres no denying the PS3 will come into its own in 2008, but for this christmas the relatively small software catalog of the PS3 (when compared with the 360) may be its undoing. View

Its a shame really, the PS3 should really be starting to get into its a stride now.
Hopefully when Killzone 2 and MGS come out next year they'll start selling quite a few more View

The reason for the poor PS3 reviews is generally the sub-standard frame rate on multiplatform games - and to be honest its not really a suprise they get worse scores than the 360 equivalent. Its a shame as the Ps3 should really be getting into its stride by now.

Glitchyness comes with games as standard it would seem now - if its a hyped up game where the review sites are likely to make advertising revenue from banners from said game, then they're likely to give it a good review score.

Its true, Assasins Creed should have got a significantly higher score on the 360 than on the PS3 just because of the glitcyness of the PS3 version.
Developers should really get their act together with the PS3 multiplats now, I'll hopefully have a reason to spend £299 on one then. (Sony fanboys please don't read this as an excuse to rant on about blu-ray and home etc, they don't interest me and I don't want this to be seen as flame-bait)

Edit: I know the 360 version is glitchy as well, but I've been playing it for several hours now and not encountered one crash, glitch or framerate slowdown. View

Pity that Live! has been absolutely horredous in terms of lag and things not working over the last 72 hours. I've not been able to play COD4 or Halo 3 at all because of the issues.

I can't even get to my friends list without the 360 hanging (and I've tried this on 4 of my friends consoles as well so its not hardware related).

The time of GTA exclusives (in terms of whole games) is over, the userbase of the 360 far outweighs the PS3 at the moment, and will do for the foreseeable future - Why do you think so many PS3 exclusives are now multiplatform? View

Indeed, its not doing Sonys PR much good over here, we're not stupid, I don't like being told I have to pay $200 more for a machine thats not even got all the hardware (no emotion engine chip!). Infact I actually resent having to pay more than anyone else for it.

As I said earlier its cheaper to import a US PS3 than buy one in a shop in the UK. View

Europe is actually the biggest computer games market in the world now, so Sony need to take it a bit more seriously, they're doing themselves no favours with the "you pay what we tell you to pay" attitude.

We always get ripped off in the UK/EU, if I was going to get a PS3 I'd import one, even after paying import duty and VAT it'd be cheaper than buying one in the shops here.

oh and remember in January the price "won't drop for two years", how things change when you're getting more returns than sales.

This site is going down the pan rather quick, I really do wish there was more active moderation of the "fanboy" element to the site, its not constructive to hear "sony is gay", "xbot lolzcopters" and the like, and if I hear about the vastly over-inflated issue of the "red rings of death" I think I'm going to scream.

Its a games console, get over it. You play games on them, its not as if you're associated or own shares in either of the companies, is it? You should be glad theres some competition between the two to drive things forward, it'd be fairly stagnant industry if there was only one major games console.

If Sony had hit the sweet spot with developers again this time round I'd have a PS3 right now, but it would appear they need 200 employees and a $20 million budget to rival something such as Gears of War graphically (and 2 years development time). Not many developers have $20 million budgets, so this is probably one of the only times you'll see graphics this good on the PS3. Its a shame really but thats what you get when you go with a processor that is different in architecture than everything else out there, and a less powerful GPU. They innovated, but developers didn't want innovation this time round... View
