Hey, buddie. No prob. Just found out the Northrend Battleground Blockout is now available for testing. You can go to Dalaran. The battleground battlemaster room is now revamped. The blockout battleground was renamed to Strand of the Ancients Battleground. View

Q&A # 41 took this long because Karune was at the 2008 Paris Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals. I met him there. As he said at the battle.net forums, there are many fansites and gaming sites which offered a lot of Starcraft 2 info. Karune answered the fansites a lot of questions. Again, I was there when he was answering questions. I asked him a few. View

Right on the nail, Tyrael. It was announced by now. Blizzard Acquired the domain name. The ownership transfer will take place probably on June. For now, the community has changed domain name to diablofans.com

The diablo3.com will continue to link to diablofans.com until June, when it will be under the control of Blizzard Entertainment. This ownership transfer was not a sale as some gaming sites have reported. Roger Barr (Mockery) decided to give the domain name to Blizzard for free, at no charge. A fan himself, he gladly gave the domain name knowing this could pretty much mean Blizzard is preparing for a diablo game announcement.

We think ... and this is rumor ... that the announcement might be made at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals in Paris through June 28-29. It was this date when Diablo II and its expansion were released back on 2000 and 2001. Neat coincidence?

We got some heat from people who didn't see that as great news, but we were expecting that to happen. You can't please everyone. The majority is happy to hear the news, because that set red flags all around the globe that Blizzard might be preparing the path for the announcement at some point. That's much more than what fans had prior to the countdown. A great reason to rise hype up.

For those who diminished this news to not be so hot, I just want you to take a look at all the Gaming Sites who think otherwise. They spread the news widely across the world. This is the list of Game Sites -- at least who posted within the first 24 hours:

Agreed. Fans wouldn't be happy of a micro-transaction model. I played Hellgate: London Beta and people was very pissed about the in-game advertising specially for a game you have to pay for monthly. Usually you pay for access to content to remove advertising in certain gaming sites. People feels cheated if on top of paying they also have to dig advertising.

That's not entirely the case with the free gameplay + micro-transaction model, but pretty close. People pays a subscription for WoW and they feel they have certain level of power, and Blizzard keeps working on new content, maintains their servers, etc. On a micro-transaction model, WoW players would feel out of place if suddenly they saw real-life advertising within loot names, loot inscriptions, goblin and gnome inventions, dwarven beer, and other type of sublime advertising. And the possible threat that some of their personal information is handled by the wrong hands. Usually on this models, it is a third-party company who handles advertising in games. Those who use no-cd crack are vulnerable to trojans, virus, spyware, malware and whatnot. Do you trust the third-party software? Or would you rather have Blizzard release their own native no-cd? Starcraft got it 2-3 weeks ago. This time it was Warcraft 3's turn. More power to us.

Patch 1.22 is in the works, and it's expected in upcoming weeks. Blizzard can't really predict when a patch is ready to go. They indeed said the patch 1.22 would be out by the end of December, then by January. Guess what? Qualty Assurance may find a big time bug 2 hours before the patch goes live, and it could be cancelled until they straighten up the code to fix it.

And then people gets mad when they don't give ETA ... when they miss the ETA, trolls go into uproar frenzy.

Patch 1.22 is of course still in the works and updates will be posted accordingly on the patch update thread:

Medievaldragon from Blizzplanet here. I have known of this mod for 3-4 years. Blizzplanet is 5-years old.

To answer why this mod needs Starcraft: Brood War and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne CDs, it is simple: This mod is based on a total conversion of another Blizzard Game. All Blizzard games prior to World of Warcraft had an internal CD-key which interacted with a Battle.net identification protocol that ensures anti-piracy parameters. Blizzard's Legal Department is very sensitive, protective and aggressive about this patented anti-piracy protocol ... they do their job pretty well.

Imagine a mod that allows you to play Starcraft for free, and circumvents the anti-piracy protocols.

There are other Starcraft mods out there who had been shut down in the past. There was a C&C mod based on Starcraft. It got a cease and desist letter by Blizzard's lawyers. There are a few other mods that have been stopped cold by such letters. Others have been stopped for the mere reason they had Starcraft as a title of the mod. I remember a mod titled Starcraft 2: Xel'Naga's Vengeance that got nuked down.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Don't name your mod using a copyrighted title. Project Revolution has lived this long because:

1. The title Starcraft is nowhere in Project Revolution's title.
2. In order to play the mod, you must have a legal copy of Starcraft: Brood War and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne -- that's four Game CDs you must own or buy.
3. Instead of copying sounds, images, and such from scratch the mod access all these directly from the games mentioned above.

Either way there are a few legal/copyright infringements this mod would be violating if the mod hadn't been designed the way it was.

The Project Revolution team wanted the mod to look like the original starcraft, visually and balance-wise. Take note that this mod started a few years ago. There was no sign Starcraft 2 was in development.

I am not part of the Project Revolution team, so don't take these comments as an official statement. Just saying if the mod hadn't been designed the way it is, it would have been shutdown long ago by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the only mod I have seen spared a cease and desist letter. View

ya know
Starcraft: Ghost was meant to be like Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell where you would stealth your way through Terran, Protoss and Zerg bases undetected. You would snipe from the shadows.

You had to get rid of corpses throwing them through ventilation vents or into closets, or down a cliff or such. If other NPCs saw any corpses they would sound the alarm.

Enemy could detect you with special sensors you had to avoid. you could use infrared UI to see through walls. You could arm a mechanical spider mine. Your point of view shifted to the mine itself and you could make the mine walk toward your enemies. Other mine was a burrowing one that would explode any time a mob walked near it.

You could aboard a goliath, and other vehicles such as the vulture. It looked like a fun game.

You know, I actually purchased a $250 24 inch TV and a Game Cube just to play Starcraft: Ghost, barely 2 weeks before the release date expected on March or April 2005. I was pissed. View
