Modern Warfare 2 - One Huge Complaint

Ok, I'm going to make this short & sweet since I have class in 10 minutes.
Last night, I purchased Modern Warfare 2 at midnight, and even though I had a law test at 8am this morning, I still stayed up to 4am to play it because, frankly, I couldn't stop. It's that good.
With how good the game is though, I only have one minorly huge complaint - the sound - more explicitly - the gunfire.
Is it just me, or does it sound like you're shooting cap guns in this game? Everything is so well done, the explosions, the music, the dialogue - EVERYTHING... but the gunfire.
I started with the Famas and repeatedly had to ask my friends if the weapon I was wielding was silenced. Real guns do not sound like that. I have been in the military and have fired an M4 & M16 - among others - and in reality they sound nothing like they do in Modern Warfare 2.
My friend, of course, shot down my opinion and said that all the weapons were recorded... But if they were, what the hell were they shooting out of them - blanks???
I have a new, top of the line, Yamaha 5.1 Surround Sound System and couldn't wait to feast my ears on the sounds of war Modern Warfare 2 represents, but in this aspect... I couldn't be more disapointed.
So far, the only 2 games that have done it perfectly, gunfire wise that is, are Socom Confrontation & Battlefield Bad Company. In Battlefield - rifles have that distinctive 'crack', that's absent from Modern Warfare 2. In Socom, the weapons are so mean and loud that when you hear a firefight, you KNOW someone has died, they just sound visceral to the point of me wanting to avoid where it's coming from (especially when I have the volume cranked).
But this minor complaint aside, Modern Warfare 2 is an amazing game. Possibly even Game of the Year. I love Uncharted 2 but this may give it a run for its money.
Back to the topic of sound - what do you guys think? Are you satisfied with it or do you agree that the gunfire should sound more like gunfire and less like a Hollywood sound effect. Please, comment below.
