Why PS3+PC is better than PS3+360.
126 days 19 hours ago | by: Coolrah
Ok I am gonna cut to the chase and make this blog quick and simple. 360 has alot of exclusives and so does the ps3....BUT there is a key difference. You can't get KZ2, Infamous,MSG4,Resistance 2,LBP, and thats just to name a few. With 360 you can get Majority of its exclusive games on the PC and there cheaper and better in more than the graphical department where they have more content and are not hampered by the fact they have to pay for live.

The only problem is that PS3+ a good gaming rig is sometimes hefty on the wallet and may drive away people with lower incomes but. Look at it this way...With xbox live you'll always end up paying more....More for a console that isn't always reliable (even though they have a warranty it doesn't cover all of the consoles hardware breakdowns) where as a PC you can get warranties for any kind of failure and you don't have to pay for a continueing service (besides internet) atfer you've already spent hundreds of dollars. Also there are websites like Newegg (best site ever IMO) which sell quality computer parts for way cheaper than there competitors and offer good deals and sales for comp user like me and other people around the world. So you decide with PS3+PC you pay alot of money upfront and you may have to spend some extra time learning about PC's but with PS3+360 you spend more money in the long run. Thats if its from paying for something isn't in the warranty or for the continuous service of Live.

So do you agree?

1.2 - Well...
yes you can get a good portion of xbox "exclusives" on the PC, but with the xbox its more user friendly, yea you gotta pay for online but its still a great feature, you can create a friends list, you have gamerscores, avatars, the marketplace, now, im not very familiar with PC gaming so juts correct me if im wrong cuz im not 100% sure on this. i dont think all of that is available with PC gaming but it might be so like i said just correct me if im wrong, dont b!tch at me if im wrong. but i do love how u can only get ps3s exclusives on ps3, it truly makes them exclusive. MGS4 ftw!!!

Are you the same Rah from gamepro?

Anyway, I believe that some people just prefer to play their games on a couch in front of a tv instead of a monitor. For the average user is just better to buy a console and forget about the upgrades until the next generation of consoles.

A console comes with everything you need and you just have to hook it up to an HDtv and just focus on playing the games and not on how well it will perform on your comp.

The Droids have gone into Red Alert every since E3. They can't pretend Xbox 360 has no games anymore, so now its "all 360 games are on PC and I have a good enough one to play them so everyone should get PS3 and PC"

Rofl, so desperate.

I completely disagree, for the reasons mentioned above:

Why would you do that, when you miss out on the Halo's, Crackdown etc.

Plus why wouldn't getting a PS3 + 360 be better, because then you can use you PS3 as an internet browser.

Nice to see some valid points. Now to rebuttal.

@wiimaniac No I am not the same rah from gamepro. Secondly yes some people who want to just sit infront of a couch and don't want to go through the hassle of having to buy or upgrade their current PC. There are plenty of ways to get it done and the only thing you have to do is pay money out of your pocket. There are plenty of people who are tech savvy and who can build a comp for you for a much cheaper price than the store bought ones. We also know that not every person does the "best" thing as alot of people take the easy way out. But to each his own

@kigmal I don't see the point in having all 3. Gears 2 online is terrible and bugfilled. Halo 3 is a kids game....(opinion)Fable 2 I give you credit for. (good game) Forza 2? who still plays that. Halo wars? failure of a RTS game and there are tons better on the PC. Old school starcraft shats all over Halo wars. Ninja Gaiden 2 is getting a way better version on the ps3. And Crackdown only received recognition because it had the halo 3 beta codes. Also only 3 of those games are major sellers on the 360.....2 of em are shooters and 1 of em is a RPG. So meh...This little kid just denounced all those games.

@Necroplasm You do realize that you'll always end up paying more than you would than just buy buying a PC right? Seriously owning a PC will always be cheaper just for the sole purpose of the pirating market. Secondly what happens when your warranty runs out for the 360 and it dies on you....Thats 100 of yer moniez gone. Where as a PC, If you treat it right and keep it virus free then it will live on forever.

@ryano No as I don't see halo being a major game. Also the same could be said about PC. You'd be missing out on counterstrike,Starcraft, Half-Life 2 and its epic modding community. Seriously you'd be missing alot more from the PC than the xbox. Plus you have to pay to play with your friends which is BS in all forms. Also a PS3 is a gaming console and media center first. The internet browser is good but not as good as a PC's. Also alot of major games don't run on linux or I would install linux on my ps3 and just screw my gaming rig altogether. But meh.

8.1 - I'm a PS3/360 man, myself.
I got tired years ago of the endless hassle of upgrading my PC hardware, upgrading my PC drivers, oh crap...something's conflicting now, back to square one with old drivers. Ah..it still runs like hell....
And I know I could hook up my computer to my 1080p projector in the basement to take advantage of the system and sound...but what a pain in the ass.
So I opted out of PC gaming and haven't looked back. It just wasn't worth the hassle for me. When I come home after a day at the office, my game time is limited as is. I don't want to piss around and I'm on a bloody PC all day long as it is.

So for me I bought a 360 at launch, then a PS3 at launch. My 360 is the least used of the two (as after 4 consoles I don't trust the blasted thing) and I just don't bother with XBL as I can always get my online fix with my PS3 - but it's still useful to have a 360 kicking around for the odd decent exclusive I want like Gears 2 or Fable 2 (really looking forward to Alan Wake!)

Just one man's opinion.

Your argument was "most 360 exclusives are on PC" I go ahead and prove you wrong, then you come out with excuses about how each game sucks. lol go phuck yourself you idiot. Just because you don't like the games doesn't mean they suck. Each game I listed is at least rated 80 or higher with the exception of Crackdown (underrated game) Just admit it that you don't like Xbox 360 and it's games, don't try to hide it fanboy. gg kid, go get a job and quit your b*tching. Kigmal did go a little off the deep end, but the guy that wrote this blog is just looking for an excuse to bash the 360, and work up the other fanboys like himself. Its another product of this stupid internet fanboy culture that some kids are sadly coming into when they first log onto the internet and discover a gaming forum or N4G.

If you got the money to get a monster rig and a PS3, you got the money to get a 360 which does have decent exclusives as does the PS3 and PC, there is no point in denying it and just bashing great games just cause you don't like them is just showing to the whole world that you are just another little fantart. If you have to chose, then its a personal choice and there is not reason to hate on the other console, just enjoy the games to have on the platforms you have.

@ Montrealien

I do agre with you. The 360 has some great games and exclusives. Truly I do understand but I kind of side with this guy.

I had a 360 and sold it to upgrade my PC to a monster rig. I save a ton of money buying games off steam and with the plethora of free stuff out there coupled with free online for both my PS3 and PC I get a lot out of it.

however in the light of saying "To each his own" I have my opinion on "Great games" as well. The truth is, no really this is just me and I am totally not knocking the 360 because there are plenty of PS3 exclusives I don't like as well like MGS4 and Folklore and enjoyed KZ2 but not as much as most people... To me the 360 offers very little for me that I want to play. Gears... I played it at my GF's brothers. We beat 2 together and it was just "Ok" to me. Halo 3 I hate. I hate Sci Fi games in general to be honest to include Mass Effect, Too Human and even resistance and R2. Take Sci Fi out of MS's games and out are left with not too much imo. Fable 2 I will admit I really want to play it. but it's not enough for me to go get a 360 again for after the headaches MS customer support and 3 failed consoles brought me. Many games I think look decent like Splinter cell(Although I would love it to be more stealthy. It looks really action based) or Alan wake(Looks good but not close to the top of my list) which should be coming to PC as well. They still dont compare to God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Sigma 2, Demons souls, White Knight Chronicles, Uncharted, Last guardian or MAG. Even though truthfully the games I am also just as much excited for (even a little more so in many cases) are multi plat like Batman AA(PS3 exclusive content gives me even less reason to get it on 360), Modern Warfare 2(Timed 360 maps are nice but... Not a deal breaker), Darksiders, Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta, Brutal Legend or Bioshock 2(Probably get that one for PC honestly). I can play those with a 1% lower resolution on PS3 you need a magnifying glass to guage... Free online.

Too me there just isn't enough reason to go back to 360. Most games make it to PC eventually and if not I get plenty more on Steam to fill that hole(Cheaper also. most 60$ games at retail are only 50 online not including pre release sales and other stuff which happen all the time. Heck there is a 2k pack now worth 250$ or so on sale for 50$ on steam. or the SF4 deal of 35$ I bet it's still 60$ at retail.) Also there is simply a huge sliding scale for exclusives on PC and PS3 when compared to the 360. Free online, Great original PS3 games like flower, flow, linger, fat princess, pixel junk, super stardust... and other games. While 360 had more I feel they are mostly ver flash based and stuff I could get online cheap or free. Castle Crashers, Braid and Carcassonne are about the only games I like on XBL but braid is also on PC, There are versions of carcasonne for PC and some versions of castle crashers like 'The beard"... I know it was demod at GDC 08 for PC but not sure about other releases. but since I don't own any of them, Or have a lot of info, you can see how much I truly care....

To each his own though. Truly if you like Halo and Crackdown (Among others) then the 360 is totally for you. It's just not for me...

Ah. Well it's very good we are on the same page with that bro. I do sometimes fall into the "Bash" category but usually I am pushed there and I don't jump in with it. It seems like many "Fanboys" love everything exclusive to their console and hate everything exclusive to the other. That is just illogical to me... Even mart thinks LBP is a decent game(I'm sure it's only in some respects with certain exceptions and could be improved with a 20 page list of issues =D). I can see the pro's of the 360 as well and appreciate what it is that it offers it's fans. Thanks for the civility and actually being a gamer first.

First off, PC gaming is not for everyone. Some people aren't willing to learn, which is why consoles are the gaming norm now.

If you're a PC gamer, I agree, the sacrifices are fewer if you get a PS3 instead of a 360. MS purposefully made their 360 similar to a PC to encourage the back and forth. There are drawbacks (like that damned timed exclusivity) but at the end of the day, 360 and PC are basically siblings.

Yet ANOTHER Anti-Xbox blog Coolrah.

I mean, it doesn't really bother me that you're a PS3 fanboy. But, what does is that in your blogs you throw in some form of "politicaly correct" statement ie: "360 has alot of exclusives and so does the ps3" just so you can claim you're not a fanboy. Just come out of the fanboy closet already!

Answer me this, is throwing the PC into the combonation mix an admittion that the 360 is better than the PS3?

Agreed. This guy seems to be on an Anti-Xbox roll. No need to say anything else you nailed the guy dead on.

To answer the question.

I don't like PC gaming. I hate keyboard and mouse controls and I don't have a PC hooked up in my living room to my 67' 1080p TV. I've spec'd out a system and yes it is more expensive than both my 360 and PS3.

Looking at this kid it's obvious he still lives with mom and dad and maybe the PC thing works great when you are held up in your room with your PC monitor but when you have your own home a PC next to a TV in the living room isn't very practical and well my gf is not going to have it.

If you have a good PC you don't need the PS3 either. You can find games from every genre for the PC and they'll always have better graphics than the PS3. Why would you need Killzone 2 when you had Crysis?

You do. I got Crysis and it's great but I also have Killzone 2 on my PS3 and it's just so much more fun than Crysis plus it looks amazing.

I duno why people are always comparing those two games when ones an open world game and ones a "closed world" i.e. relatively small maps. It's kinda like comparing a Fifa game with Fight Night Round 4

13 - If you are going to take a crack at writing, proofread your stuff first.
First: On topic - I don't agree with you at all. The 360 trumps pc when it comes to convenience in my opinion. Even with all of the hardware failures, I'm sure most of the gaming public does not have the time or money to constantly fiddle around with their computers. Yes, I know, a high end pc will always beat the pants off of the ps3 and 360 combined, but so far I find the overall experience better on consoles.

I would love to own an Alienware with a blazing fast setup. But how long will that really last me? I still play my ps2 games and they work fine. The problem with Pc's is that there are too many variables, and the state is always in flux. PC's also have numerous problems unique to their platform, and not everyone is tech-savvy enough to address those problems. Case in point- I'm still fighting the aftermath of a trojan placed on the family pc by the youngster in the house ; such an annoyance.

I prefer to have dedicated gaming platforms, not jack-of-all-trades machines. They are much more reliable, and unless you are a pixel-counter, will give you just as much enjoyment for your buck.

Off topic: " way cheaper than there competitors ... "

Remember, it's "their" , not "there". "Their" indicates posession. "There" indicates location. Your opinions will carry much more weight with proper grammar.

Keep writing.

I agree with you there.

But for the masses I'll admit that consoles are the way to go. I can't recommend PC gaming to everyone since most prefer the easy option and for them it is usually the right option. After getting myself a PS3 I've realised just how good it is to not have to wonder how a game will run.

Console gaming's great but peope really shouldn't put themselves off from gaming on a PC. Just as I made the leap and found new happiness with my PS3 others might find it with PCs since you really don't need a beefy PC to play games on it. There are more than enough games that will run on average PCs.

You guy's really should check out what studios like Bioware have made for the PC in the past because there are a lot of amazing games out there.

20 - What about guys like me?
I've found that the 360 and PS3 do a good job of reining in my tendancy to overdo it with tech spending. I remember back in the 90's when I was into PC gaming and I was spending thousands and thousands of dollars a year just to keep up with the latest and greatest tech.

I realize that I could have been really smart about getting just the least necessary and cheapest components and such, but I'm not that kind of guy. I need the latest and greatest of everything which is why I find it far more financially responsible, for myself, to just leave computing to my work life (graphic design). If I hadn't cut myself off from PC gaming years ago I'd probably have a six or seven thousand dollar system sitting in my game room with thouasnds a year in upgrades. Of course I wouldn't need all of that stuff, but I'd still be buying it.

21 - yay more fanboys
You all seem to to think that I just totally hate the 360 and all that it brings. I will admit that I dislike the 360 and alot of its features and I do frequently call bs on its claims. But I veiw the 360 more as a sleep over console. One where me and 3 other friends just mess around on whatever multiplayer game we have. Ps3 on the other hand it can be a sleep over console but its more of a "Me" console as in only time I play with other people is online. It has that more of a mature feeling but hey thats just me. And my "fanboy" opinion.

@Darkride thank you for being one of the few in here that gave a constructive post and not some fanboy bs that I am used to hearing. But yes gaming console are more practical as they come right out the box ready to be played. Where as a PC you most likely to have to update drivers and such and alot of people that is a hassle...Me I enjoy the tech savvyness so thats why I would like having a PC+PS3 more so than a 360 as I've had bad luck with them and basically the 360 is the PC's younger sickly little brother that has had a history of getting the flu. (bad analogy) Anyway thx for not being a fanboy. :)

@Kigmal seriously dude chill out its only a blog post basically another mans opinion. You insulted me first so don't go on a temper tantrum when I prove you wrong. When I said that "most of 360's exclusives" I ment the ones that people still play religiously to this day. Like Halo 3 or Gears 2. Yes neither of those can be found on PC but you can get Mass Effect or the entire (way better version) of the orange box. You can get Left 4 Dead (way better version). All this for the PC plus the already endless library of other games and their modding communities. That right their trumps the 360's and the PS3's lineup in games and replayable content.

@Morituri thank you for the constructive criticism. I will try to work on my grammar in my next blog. Yes as I said before consoles are always more convenience. But in reality convenience is not a tangible thing. Money is and right now I am saving 50 bucks a year by not paying for XBL anymore. The only money I am spending is the kind I actually give away. I would rather give up convenience if it put a few extra dollars in my pocket. And yes computers are very open to alot of threats but as I said before if you keep it clean and buy the right parts than you lower your chances of failure. Where as a 360 theres not much you can do if you get a RROD or any other Hardware failure. With a Pc you can most likely troubleshoot it and its solved.
Also I am not a pixel counter. A PC in the long run will (If you take care of it) save you more money. And you don't even have to really be tech savvy. Read some articles online as there are plenty or if you have a problem plenty of websites have ways to fix them and you usually never have to spend money....Only time.

@ahemzan thx for not being a fanboy. But yes PC gaming can be hefty on the wallet but I built a gaming rig about a 10 years ago for a customer and it still works great to this day and the reason why is because he took care of it. But see if you research and wait for deals (Live on newegg) then you can save alot of money especially on PC parts.I also think that you don't even really need the "best" parts and components as they are really not the "best". Oh and that gaming rig still plays games to this day. Actually plays crysis pretty well. (actually crysis isn;t even that great of a game honestly)

To all the fanboys normally I try to just ignore your comments. But seriously. I have already openly admitted to not likeing the 360 and preferring the PC over it. I am not hiding anything, if you don't like what I say then don't read it. I don't need your pointless babble and crying about how "I hate the 360" and all this moaning about how "I am pro ps3" Well guess what folks someone has a different opinion get over it. You shouldn't hate someone because their different as its just childish and shows how much of a douche you are. Some of my best friends hate ps3 and love 360 and we always get into it but at the end of the day their only consoles. Seriously fanboys....stop the crying.
