Keep in mind...
For people nay-saying the Wii's chances of having RE5 ported to it, keep this in mind.
The Wii contains the bare necessities of your average console. What it lacks in the next gen department is surround sound and strong processing.
Despite this, RE4 worked like a dream. Much better than either the GCN or PS2 versions combined. So obviously the controls work.
Sound is not exactly essential, so standard stereo works fine in my book (though surround would always have been a plus).
The graphics of RE5 would have to be toned down, yes. But keep in mind that the Wii IS capable of decent visuals. Mario Galaxy and the upcoming The Conduit both have demonstrated this quite well (with both using the bloom lighting mechanic which can replace the lighting used in the 360/PS3 versions).
Hopefully in terms of everything mentioned above, the processor will be able to handle a game like RE5 with dumbed down graphics.
I honestly am not sure what will come of the future. But I still see something bright from Capcom in terms of Resident Evil. So to everyone clamoring over "yes, Wii" and "no, Wii"; kindly shut yer yap and just play the darn game. =P
