My friend, if blu-ray hasnt taken off, why are the regular DVD's $4.99 @ your local best buy. Its slow I agree but moving in the right direction.
Okay, even with the cheapest made in china blu ray player at $150 and the $199 (40GB) XBox, you are upto $350, and now you have two devices instead of one. But if you want to compare apples with apples, the Sony Blu-ray is at $249 which would bring up the price to $450. Yes, there is the possibility of just going with Xbox and Netflix but we all know you cant really do that with $199 Xbox 40 GB. With the PS3, you get 80GB, plus a Blu-ray player all in one for $399. Bottomline you get more for your buck with Sony, and that is what Middle America cares for. Bellcurve!
Yes, Hardcore gamers would prefer the Xbox, we all know they have a lot to offer when it comes to gaming but hard core gamers already have their consoles. The increase in console sales for 2009 will be for the casual gamer and with this economy, what will be appealing is the 2 for 1 logic with the PS3.
You see some people will enjoy Happy Hour 2 for 1 even when its Absolut...others only prefer top shelf liquor and will only hold out for Grey Goose.
