because I've seen other pictures before this - yes i'm privy to the knowledge, leaked now so I'll just say this.
Sony needed to cut back production costs, they designed a very cheap model. This was needed to introduce a very 'sharp' cost cut to new customers. Slimmer was needed much earlyer on due to Sony cutting out backwards compatibility (making the current models pretty hollow anyway).
This is 'branded' PS3 and Sony took the decision early on to scrap the spiderman writing on the next slim model, and to rebrand to more original fonts.
The pictures I've seen where a lot more clearer, looks awesome compeared to this, and also the pictures i had seen had everyday ojbects near it, and you could see how small it was.. (So much smaller).
Also I heard they didnt call it a SLIM because they couldnt get it as small as they know they will be able to in the future, this this is just replacing current model, then slim will come out in 3-4 years time.
