I have been using this site now for about 3 or so years. It has been awesome. I can pick and choose the information I want to read and converse with people who enjoy games as much as I do.

One major problem of the last six months or so have been the submission of random x, y, or z reviews. I mean how many different reviews does a person have to read to form an opinion about a game. Personally I would rather play it myself than take some of these people's word for it. This past week I have seen at least 10 reviews of Army of Two. The crazy review I saw was

It is understandable with the different releases dates reviews will come out at different times. The constant barrage of reviews is getting kind of ridiculous since people are now submitting blogs that provide reviews. I don't know what the standard is for submitting reviews, but I believe the bar should be raised.

This is a minor complaint. It has been a great enjoyment to see this site develop over the past couple of years. The changes have been great<genius move on the open zone>, but the influx of reviews needs to be corrected.

the contest is based on submission. So as long as there is something related to gaming and technology it will get approved. That goes for unknown sites reviewing games.

perhaps you should get acquainted with the site announcements. there are monthly contests. If you make it to the top 10 you get $100 first place gets 500 dollars. So it doesn't matter what you post as long as it gets approved.

yes dachiefsman it doesn't matter if its pure flamebait posted to either fill some persons fanboy need or get points and even sometimes both!

N4G has being going not in downhill but in freefall after people realized that they could make money out of the price that was originally an incentive for good poster but turned into who post the most trash and wins free cash (it even rimes!)

Like it was discussed before one thing is providing diverse news other is seriously digging around the web for THE most underground/remote or bizarre sites in order to create quick point wining articles that are almost always explicit bashing articles good examples of those are the PS3 bashing articles form last year, this years bashing 360 articles and the recently popular Vista is the devil articles (same goes for the recent review avalanche of even very old games)

same goes for the recent strange trend of certain users of posting articles that are OBVIOUSLY not following the guidlines and shouldn't be posted or should be failed immediately but are actually (surprisingly) approved by administrators

which I personally find sad since if administrators cant fallow their own rules why should we expect you average joe to do so? which perpetuates the downfall of quality and the page itself

Have to agree with you. There are tons of random reviews from joe blow websites... The good news is most of them never get any heat and fall quickly. Only the flamebait articles or real news get any heat.

2 - I'm tired of the crappy submissions

that clutter up pages. I don't give a crap about a mobile game being reviewed. I don't even know anyone who follows mobile games and/or PC games. Stop posting them so much. Its getting old.

2.2 - PC gaming isn't mainstream

enough anymore and having to sift through all the PC articles is annoying and is most likely turning people off from staying on the site. PC gaming is dieing and I just wish people would give it a quicker death.

Pc gaming isn't dying, thats wishful thinking on the console side of the moon.

Just cuz console players finally get something greater than 480p, they think pc gaming is dead, makes me chuckle all night.

I mean Crysis was supposed to be a huge game for PC and it sold less than a million. Yet Halo a huge game for only 1 console has sold over 5 million. PC is dieing, its death is just being drug out.

3 - Also...

Although I take reviews with a grain of salt, reading between the lines over many reviews does give me a pretty accurate description of how I would actually feel while playing the game. Reading for 30 minutes is usually better than blowing 60 bucks imo.

... and the more concentrated these reviews are(pro and fan), say on N4G, means less time I have to search for them over the internet.

Usually the best place to go always is the gamesite's own forums, incase anyone thinks IGN is the center of the universe.

I don't care what "Surfer Girl" thinks of Halo 3. I care what Gametrailers thinks of it. I care what GameSpot thinks of it. I do not care what "Ultra Games OK GO online" has to say about it. I don't know those writers, neither do I want to.

I would also have liked to not having to scroll through fan-made "news". That's an other thing entirely, though. Not a big issue either.

Great site other than that, though.
