I've Decided to Buy a PlayStation 3

Some of you may know me as the infamous Xbox 360 fanboy that I am. There was a time when I would have supported that console until my dying breath. It's the truth. However, I've decided to make a life-changing decision. At least in the world of gaming. I've argued with countless Sony fanboys in my day. Over the most rediculous issues too. Arguing is futile though, ecspecially when the only argument you get back is the RRoD issue. The PlayStation 3 has continued to intrigue me over the past few months. Now with it being only $300.00, and me not having rich parents like so many of you, I've decided that now is the time to buy one. They say if you can't beat your enemy (or have a fair argument is this case), then join them. And join them I have.
 
My Xbox 360 has never given me trouble. I've had it since day one: November 22nd, 2005. It's always performed above average, which is remarkable to say the least. The Xbox 360 may be a technical piece of shit, but when it runs well, it runs like a charm. Despite this, however, I've decided to buy a PlayStation 3. There are no games currently out or coming in the near-future for the PlayStation 3 that I am interested in. I know all that will change once I have the console. I will still use my Xbox 360 for RPG's, since the PlayStation 3 has none whatsoever. Western RPG's specifically. So I just thought I'd announce it to the world. You've won Sony Fanboys. You've convinced me to buy a PlayStation 3. I am now one of you.

Of course it heinous to claim that the PS3 hasn't had an awesome game line-up compared to the 360 in 2009, and more to come in 2010. + A price cut and the constant improvement of PSN (this is not to say LIVE is not improving!).

So you are only making a wise choice, but don't turn into a d*** on behalf on Sony because I can tell you will not be doing them any favors. I'm only here to try an convince (seemingly to no avail) that the PS3 is worth the money , especially now.

Of course you can be a Sony fan, you can even claim to love that console more than anything in your life and share that belief with people around you, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

What is wrong is when you let other people's conflicting opinions turn you into someone who considers it neccesary to bash the "oppostion's" console to win a war that is actually between Sony and MS not the consumers.

Btw I know this myself because I used to be a big time fanboy not too long ago, but I have gotten wiser since then.

The thing is Xbox has this obligatory and really fundamental problem of having really westernized games not that the competitors don't but Microsofts moving franchises are.

Pick up Demon Soul's and Valkyria Chronicles if you're looking for RPG games, folklore is a fun game too a bit underrated. I need to pick me up a Xbox again once it's cheap enough too.

If you like RPGs, get Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles and (maybe) Cross Edge.

hey! im also one of the few people that have bought a early 360 that has worked nonstop with zero problems for all this time! hmm we might be alike because i have also heavily considered getting a ps3. if it werent for that darn controller layout (analog stick placement) id have one now. that has been the only argument i have ever truly had against sony and the ps3. but that pic of the modded controller you have... i might look into that with a ps3 purchase.

Every single one posting on N4G is a nuthead for games and in the end should want every console out there if its the right time for him/her to step in.

But then again, thats because a game comes along on that system he/she wants to play. I had that with LittleBigPlanet. I love that game, still hate the choices Sony made with the PS3 this gen.

Thats the most stupid thing I've ever heard when buying a console though. You buy a system to play a certain game or certain games to begin with right?! What the hell you're otherwise buying the freaking console then now. You'd rather should have wait till that game you want to play/are interested in. A pricedrop might be then or the game you're interested in bundled with the console.

There is no reason to be a fanboy of any console if you don't feel like it.Simply having a PS3 does not mean your a troll/fanbox/xbot/droid or whatever.

If you like RPGs,there is not too much on PS3 but I do recommend getting Valkyria Chronicles.When you do get a PS3,check out the PSN store and check out some demos.You might be surprised at what you might like

That the only arguement you get back from Sony fanboys when discussing which system is better was the rrod issue. Either they were letting you off easy or they weren't very well informed just as you weren't when you were a 360 fanboy, they could have brought up countless other arguements as to why The PS3 is a far superior system but anyhow, congratulations on finally deciding to dine with the kings in the castle instead of the peasants at the swine farm :)

I would also buy the Socom headset bundle even though I personally think that Socom :Confrontation is not worthy to is PS2 predecessors.

Obviously MAG, Uncharted 2, God of War 3 and Heavy Rain will be must have titles for your PS3.

I'm not really into RPGs, so sorry I can't recommend anything in that genre.

Very good decision if I may say so. You will not be disappointed with the PS3 and it will last you for years. Make sure you get up to speed with games. Many exclusives are rather cheap today so it's not too expensive to build up a quality library of games. Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Resistance are all good games to get and they can be found from 15-25 bucks. Good luck and welcome to PlayStation.

I've heard that the less then 1% failure rate the SDF wanted us to believe was for the PS3 is actually 11%. Thats at least 1 out of 10 PS3's that die of YLOD or a dying BluRay laser. That doesn't sound like it will almost certainly last for years.

It doesn't matter at the moment about the 360, I mean we already knew that the 360 especially the launch ones had a RROD problem. Thats why MS gives 3 years of warranty.

But the fact that the PS3 isn't under 1% failure rate, but on a pretty high 11%, again 1 out of 10 having a failure within a short time, its not everybody having my 'luck' with a dead BluRay diode after just 3 weeks of use, but 1 out of 10 will (or get YLOD).

Thus you saying 'and it will last you for years' doesn't work for 1 out of 10 PS3 owners. And the fact that Sony just gives you 1 year of warranty and after that in Europe charges you 200 Euro (thats 2/3 the current new PS3 price) to get someone elses refurbished PS3 back, doesn't sound so great. Oh and its not just me, I have a friend that had its BluRay dying after just 3 days of use. And I've heard more of those horror stories.
