I will agree that Halo is nothing special. I don't think its BAD, but its not good either. Just middle of the road for FPS that got incredibly popular for some reason.

However, I don't agree with how you put it. You don't get the point of a game being mediocre across to people by attacking the people who play it. It really weakens your argument, and, as I said, I do agree with you that its overrated, but you don't actually have an argument, because you attack people, not the game.

I bought Halo2 and some areas looked crappy to me. Definately suxxor for my buxxor. I turned to my new love FarCry Instincts and it was on, the love making never stopped and still hasn't.

The thing I did like about Halo2 was the intense fights with the CPU on the hardest difficulty.

The multiplayer is good too, but in a world where the fastest headshot wins, I'd rather play against the CPU. FPS are all about the e-c0ck, when playing multi. Basically people trying to get the most kills.

I have been in every kind of match as I have been playing FPS's for about 11 years now.

Halo s nice, but there isn't too much there that hasn't been done with the genre.

Halo's a pretty fun FPS, if only for the great multiplayer. I think a big draw of the game is that everyone seems to own a copy, and it's very easy to get a group of people over for a LAN. The balance is for the most part done very well, and matchmaking is fairly quick, simple and painless. The variety of game modes and weapons also helps with the longevity of the MP, as most of the weapons are straighforward and easy to learn, but hard to master. The single player isn't phenomenal, but not extremely poor.

I do think it is very much over-hyped and over-protected, but not worthy of unfair criticism either. People shouldn't be forming cult-like obsessions around the game, though. It's disheartening.

Halo 1&2 are the ultimate in space futuristic war combat. The people who think that Halo sux are either haters or jaded. So they cant see that the control and movement of Halo is what makes it superior. When Halo 1 first came out I saw and thought it was just another fps but once I sat down and played it and tried to get good, I realized it is just so well balanced and fast. Even when I see Kz2 in all it graphical glory, I see it moves slower than Halo and not as precise, it looks good but seems clunky. The enemies are slow they arent trying to get away hard enough, in halo they jumpin on boxes and will stay hidden until you think youve killed everybody, then just come out on ya, and multiplayer is as intense as you can get.

p.s. multiplayer is not a reason to buy a game when you have to pay $50 a year to use it

The reason that it has so much hype is that it's the first console FPS
that could compete with a PC FPS. Halo doesn't suck at all, but it's not great like many people make it out to be.
