I miss FF3/6; it was linear and open at the same time, and when you got near the end it opened up a lot. View

I thought the graphics engine sucked when it was new. Doom3 engine was way better. View

In my view, the perfect outcome of this would be for Bethesda to be stripped of the rights to the franchise (retaining Fallout 3, of course). I don't know if Interplay is capable anymore of making a good Fallout game, but I do know that Bethesda sure isn't. View

I'm willing to bet the final class is some sort of archer. It's basically a given, since every Diablo game must have an archer and this one doesn't yet. View

What, it might go from ridiculously easy to ridiculously easier?

The game was only a challenge at level 3 or so, and even then if you do enough exploring and get a good gun it's still easy. You could beat the darn game without putting a single point into a useful skill if you wanted, esp. since at the end the stupid robot does all the killing for you.

I think the original Fallouts did not have a level cap, but the game was over by level 15-20, but it took a lot longer and a lot more effort to get to those levels. For the most part the game was still challenging up to the end. View

Gears 2 came out 2 years after the original. I haven't played L4D yet, but usually it's bad news when a sequel comes out so soon.

Yet another reason I <3 Blizzard: they never rush a game. StarCraft 2 is coming out 11 years after the original, and the time has been well used.

Back to the point of the story: if only Target weren't on the other side of town I'd go check it out right now... View

I don't usually mind having to beat a game once to unlock the hardest mode, but twice is ridiculous. ME really pissed me off for being so darn easy. I could beat that game in my sleep. I got bored of it a while into the second playthrough, though. It only seemed to get easier. The story in ME was great, but the combat really lagged because the AI was just so darn stupid. All they did was waddle back and forth and yell "I will destroy you!" over and over again. Hopefully they really will improve the hardest diff. in ME2. View

As much as I want Duke to be finished, it's always "almost" done. It's always just a few more months. I don't blame Take Two for getting tired of that excuse. I think the lawsuit is just a strategic move to wrest the IP from 3D Realms' hands. They probably want to force a settlement out of court that includes the bargain sale of Duke to Take Two. View

Starcraft 2 would have been a $160 game anyway--Blizzard has always been big on expansions. The only difference is that the single player campaign for each is all one race. Each race has 3x the maps, though, so it's not like they cut anything out. View

This is terrible! I've always been annoyed how they sell you the game outside the case. I don't want them playing with my game before I buy it. I guess I won't be shopping at Gamestop anymore unless I have to. View

This review isn't very good. I actually like Under Hill the best--even though you start too close to each other, there are three different routes of conflict: up the bridge (mortar), straight on (torque bow), or through the building (flamethrower). The only problem is that you get stuck on the door a lot even if it's open if you press A next to it.

Grind Yard is fun but terribly unbalanced. The power weapon in the middle is just too darn good a spot. There's only one way up, so at the start of the game everyone needs to rush for it. Whoever makes it up first will most likely win. Even the mulcher is good up there because it has such a great vantage point. There are no other power weapons to counter with, and the power weapon overlooks the grenades so you can't grab those either.

And lastly, without active downs or the old hammerbursts, Fuel Depot has gone from a great map to a mediocre map. View

This article makes no sense whatsoever. If JRPG sales are down in Japan, it's not because of hurt feelings that make Japanese gamers not want to the PS3 to play JRPGs. The fact of the matter is, Japanese gamers love JRPGs; if they want them, they are going to buy them, regardless of the system, and the developers know this. Thus, making efforts to succeed in the western market without changing the games can only help them.

If JRPG developers are having a problem, it is only in the west. And the reason that they can't make it in the west isn't because of the system, but because westerners have grown more alienated from JRPGs--since they tend to be the same ol' stuff over and over again. Over here we like open-ended RPGs, and JRPGs do not fit the bill. View

Sweet--I love the original. It's graphics may not have been amazing, but it's story and gameplay were great. And the desert environments were vivid enough that they actually reminded me of where I grew up. The game just had such character; it's pretty unusual to be able to cite fire-and-brimestone bible verses while firing a gun at evil-doers. I'm definitely getting this sequel.

Edit: actually, this looks like a prequel to me. Looking at some screenshots there's a guy in armor who looks like a younger version of the preacher. But I haven't seen the trailer yet. View

I'm surprised to hear that Fallout 3 is bad--I only have it on the PC, and I've always thought that most of the text was oddly oversized for the PC (same in Oblivion).

But Dead Rising was terrible...eventually I got a CRT HDTV for only $500, but before that I had a tiny <20" TV and I basically had to guess what the text in Dead Rising meant. I can understand moving toward the future, but some of the text is small even on an HDTV. Some text in Gears 2 can be difficult in 720p, until you switch to 1080i.

But at the same time, I think by the next gen they should drop SDTV support and focus on HDTV. View

I love id games...2010 release worries me a bit because I want Doom 4, and my guess is this means Doom 4 will also take a while. My computer right now is pretty beast, but the longer it takes for a game to release, the less likely my computer will be able to run it. View

This is true; even if the game isn't violent, there's a natural competitiveness among men (but in a general sense, since not every male has the same physiology and not every male will express the need to dominate more than every female).

This is important, though, because it affirms that there is something neurologically different between men and women. Many people these days have a ridiculous idea that human beings are basically androgynous and all of our stereotypical characteristics are learned from society. While many certainly are, it is ridiculous to claim that there are no biological tendencies behind any of these differences. Just the basic difference in hormones in enough to form a natural difference between males and females. These differences, being natural, are not then necessarily wrong. It's not wrong for a male child to act boyish and a female child to act girly (there are people who think this is wrong). View
