The way PS3 is selling in Japan, I wouldn't be surprised if Final Fantasy followed Monster Hunter right on over to the Wii. View

Blu-ray only supports 8 layers ( http://www.slate.com/id/213... ) & this is a 200 layer solution that is backward compatible with Blu-ray. This isn't something PS3 could support with a firmware upgrade, but if adopted could render every Blu-ray player on the market today & every PS3 obsolete. View

This isn't good news because it's adoption would mean that even Profile 2.0 isn't final. Blu-ray doesn't stand a chance in hell of ever being adopted by consumers if Sony allows continued fragmentation of compatibility. View

In the past 2 weeks I have purchased over 50 DVDs with an average retail price of $8.62. That mix is comprised mainly of catalog titles but also includes a handful of new releases which means the regular price of your average DVD is 43 percent less than sale price of a BOGO Blu-ray sale.

I understand that you're a fanboy which makes rational thought near impossible, but buying those same movies on Blu-ray would have cost me over $1,100 more which would cover the mortage on a $167,000 home. View

Blu-ray's taking off? Well, that explains why Warner Brothers is frantically trying to revitalize DVD:

Hopefully Toshiba still has a warehouse full of HD DVD players, because it looks like Hollywood is going to need them come Christmas. View

Yeah, except those 2 movies you got on Blu-ray at Best Buy for $30 probably could have been had for $15 on DVD at Wal-mart. Blu-ray is NOT cheap even on a 1/2 price sale. View

Japan is buying Blu-ray recorders, not players or PS3s. View

People aren't going to a high end retailers to purchase DVD players anymore, they're picking them up in the supermarket checkout for 25 bucks. View

These are all niche retailers that cater to the high end consumer so it's only logical that their customers would be easier to steer to Blu-ray. But Best Buy, Target & Wal-Mart are where the rubber really meets the road when it comes to consumer electronics & in case you haven't noticed all of these retailers have Blu-ray players & discs in abundance with nary a taker in sight. MS already beat Sony by leading them down a path that's going to cost them roughly 1/2 the install base of PS2 if not more. View
192 days 17 hours ago
Not, MS and Nintendo will have started the next hardware battle by then and Sony will have no choice but to short cycle the PS3. View

Hey Ubisoft, do you think low sales might have something to so with all the cr*p you published for Wii in 2007? Red Steel, Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 & 2 & No More Heroes all have decent sales. You might want to take a look at which games have separated $50 from Wii owners wallets & give us more of those instead of cranking out rehashes of that damn Petz series that absolutely no one is interested in. What you fail to realize is that Wii has been supply constrained since launch & continues to be so. This has left traditional gamers competing with the new casual audience for shipments of Wiis that aren't enough to satisfy demand of either.

If Wii accounted for 10 percent of Ubisoft's sales in 2007, what happens this year when the number of traditional gamers who've managed to get their hands on a Wii has doubled? Next year when it's quadrupled?

Wii is the PS2 of this generation which is what consumers continue to reinforce at retail. View

Just say no! Video games should be VIDEO GAMES not some 2nd rate Dungeons & Dragons knock off. IMO Eye of Judgment is about as appealing for a video game as a roadkill sandwich is for lunch. Cards are for board games NOT video games. View

Greater demand for Wii Fit than GTA IV, that's an understatement. Good news for Nintendo is that regarless of how many Wiis they ship to the US between now & Christmas it isn't going to be enough. View

This isn't a prediction, it's just math. Nintendo has already sold nearly 25.5 million Wiis & is increasing production to 2.4 million units per month in June: 25.5 million + (2.4 million * 31 months) = 99.9 million, throw in however many Wiis they manage to ship through the end of this month & Nintendo comfortably sails to 100 million by the end of 2010.

But if Nintendo increases production again this year for the holidays Wii could be sitting comfortably on the other side of the 50 million mark come New Years Day '09. View
