I thought these ads were suppose to counter the Apple ads? IMO Gates & Seinfeld actually reinforce what Apple implies in it's ads: The PC is a middle-aged man who's best years are behind him. View

"We are going to deliver a better way to store the games."
Nintendo could be working on a storage solution that has Samsung giving Blu-ray 5 years tops. View

No, ME was a bad upgrade for Windows 98 while 2000 was a good upgrade for Windows NT. View

@Palodios: Sony has noticed because they stated in the article that the 80GB SKU outsold the 40GB SKU last Christmas by 22 percent. My guess is that Sony knows that BC is extremely important, especially to the 100 million PS2 owners who haven't begun their migration yet. View

@Bladestar: Everyone with a pulse knows that the MS logo is a trademark for cr*p, beit software or hardware. Problem for IT is that 98 percent of all computers shipped in the last 20 years all came with a preinstalled flavor of MS cr*pware on them which forced management to absorb the enormous cost of Windows' support while IT "dealt with it." Good news for IT is that the rise of Linux in the late 90s quickly broke Windows' stranglehold on corporate servers & with Apple chipping away at Windows' desktop monopoly Gates' may actually live long enough to see his reign of terror over IT come to an end. I don't know that Sony has to spend millions in advertising to convince gamers that PS3 is the better value, because sales figures seem to indicate that gamers already know that. Time will tell what the impact of 360's latest round of price cuts is, but I do know that I never buy something just because it's cheap & I don't think I'm unusual in that respect. Seems to me these analysts are assuming that consumers will buy anything provided that it's cheap enough, whereas I believe consumers will buy what they want at a price they determine to be fair. Problem for MS is that I don't believe there's a lot of demand for 360 at this point. View

Samsung didn't even mention digital distribution. How about we all stop to ask ourselves why we're defending a disc format like our lives depended on it? Blu-ray will be lucky to make it five years for the simple fact that early adopters are avoiding it like it was a fat chick at a frat party. Besides, how committed to Blu-ray do we actually think Hollywood is when we just cracked open Supernatural: Season 3 to find a coupon to download a digital copy from iTunes for free? Blu-ray is nothing more than a brain dead patient on life support who isn't coming back, ever. View

DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION doesn't mean DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT. In case you've all failed to notice, Hollywood has been pushing DD so hard over the last 6 months that they've already reduced "digital copy" to DVD feature status. View

Olin actually said that Blu-ray isn't a long-term advantage for PS3:
http://www.gamasutra.com/ph...

and it doesn't matter whether you believe him or not. Blu-ray doesn't have a decade to strike a chord with consumers like DVD did.

Disagree away boys, but I have 32 games in my PS3 library & not a single movie on Blu-ray, nor will there EVER be. View

Price cuts only work when consumers actually want to buy your product but cannot afford to. View

That's the pessimistic view, but Wii has a worldwide install base over twice that of PS3 & both Resident Evil titles have sold respectably given prevailing theory that Wii's install base skews hard toward casual. All things considered, it's entirely possible that GTA on Wii will outsell GTA on PS3. View

Wii is besieged by shovelware because it's the only next-gen console with an install base sufficient to support shovelware. Maybe you see shovelware as a negative, but historically shovelware volume has actually been a tell for which console has rallied the lion's share of developer support. View

Metering the Internet AGAIN may not be such a bad idea. In the beginning there were the likes of AOL, CompuServe & Prodigy who all charged by the minute, but you could actually hold a reasoned discussion in chat rooms & on discussion boards, you could click hyperlinks without fear of being besieged by all manner of "obscene filth", & "You've Got Mail" actually meant that YOU HAD MAIL!

It wasn't long after the Internet became "all you can eat" that the dreks of society flocked to it like a herd of 1/2 ton beasts to a buffet, defacing a medium with such inspiring potential into another public restroom stall.

Meter the Internet? Yes please, but could we start with a $1 service charge for every e-mail sent? View

No, if PS3 & Wii both launched at $250 the Wii would still be ahead in sales for the simple fact that Wii is selling to health clubs, retirement homes & a myriad of non-gamers. 360 sales would have come to a full stop had PS3 launched at $250, but Wii would still lead in sales. View

Cult (noun) - a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.

Lionsgate's revenue is up 47 percent because of Rambo, The Eye and 3:10 to Yuma, not Blu-ray. Did anyone even stop to read the article? "Significant and growing contributions from strong Blu-ray high-definition disc sales" could be 5 million dollars compared to the the bunch of nothing Blu-ray was doing last year.

If you think Blu-ray is responsible for Lionsgate's revenue increase you must be reading the "censored" report that black markered the part where Lionsgate said they expected 50% of Blu-ray sales to occur in the fourth quarter which means Blu-ray's still doing a bunch of nothing. Good news is that DVD & DD are up: http://www.homemediamagazin...

No, DVD & DD sales aren't up by the same percentage as Blu-ray sales, but when you increase a HUGE number by 10 or 15 percent you still end up with a larger increase than if you increase an infinitesimal number by 300 percent. View

I wonder what all those "casual Wii gamers" are doing snatching up MGS. Maybe they're no so casual after all? View

Doesn't matter because gamers will only need to buy 1 PS3 or 1 Wii during their console cycle whereas 1 year into the 360's console cycle you already have gamers on the 3rd or 4th 360! It doesn't matter how much better Live is than PSN & it doesn't matter how many more 90-rated titles 360 has over PS3 or Wii, none of it changes the fact that the 360 is an utter piece of cr*p that should have been recalled about 6 months after it's launch. Check vgchartz? Is anyone surprised that sales doubled for a clearance sale? Question I have is how many of those new 360 owners will be on a first name basis with their UPS guy by this Christmas? View

Nope, there will be no "next console" from MS. View

MS isn't scared, they're terrified. Their desktop OS monopoly is crumbling, nobody wanted a Zune & now gamers are choosing Wii over 360! View
