No, you fail. DVD has been on the market well over 7 months. View

Blu-ray is the last gasp from 80's technology that is simply incapable of accommodating our modern lifestyles. The future is slotMusic:

Blu-ray players are being purchased faster than DVD players, but 99 percent of them are game consoles. Blu-ray as a video format is being adopted at less than 1/4 the rate of DVD:

OEMs are beginning to question whether or not they should even include Blu-ray drives:

Blu-ray as a video format is not taking off like DVD, period. View

Sorry, but that simply is NOT true. DVD sold 14 million discs to 1 million players in it's first year on the market while in it's first two years on the market Blu-ray only managed to sell 11 million discs. The only reason Blu-ray "appears" to be outpacing DVD's rate of adoption is because Sony forced it on a captive audience, gamers. Problem for Hollywood is that Blu-ray player sales are not translating into Blu-ray disc sales because 99 percent of the players being sold are game consoles. View

I agree with OOG because were it not for RRoD I would have purchased a 360 instead of a PS3. Of course if MS would have put the current price structure in place last year I may have purchased a 360 even with the threat of RRoD because $199 is disposable pricing. IMO MS waited too long to get serious about capturing market share. View

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony sat out the next console cycle because I really don't see the PS3 aging badly enough to require an 8th generation replacement.

Nintendo's going to have to get an HD console on the market within the next 5 years so their next console may be the only entry in the 8th generation cycle.

Xbox is a crap shoot at this point. 360 will age poorly against the PS3, but if the latest round of price cuts don't see it gaining market share I seriously doubt there will be a "Phoenix" from MS. View

Too late, this gaffe has already written the next Mac vs. PC ad where a downtrodden PC appears holding a pink slip, explaining how even MS has chosen "you over me."

The fact that Macs are being used in the workflow of Microsoft's campaign is going to drown out anything & everything they have to say.

"The spokesman pointed out that Apple store clerks use devices running Windows Mobile and that Apple licensed Exchange ActiveSync from Microsoft for the iPhone."

Yes, but Apple hasn't had a PDA of it's own on the market since the Newton was discontinued in the late 90's & ActiveSync was only licensed so iPhone could break the choke hold that Blackberry & Windows Mobile currently have on the corporate market.

I'm not sure I understand what MS is hoing to accomplish. The Mac vs. PC ads contrast Mac with satirical exaggerations of the "quirks" we all curse our PCs for & MS counters with "everyone's using it." I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that MS is completely out of touch with consumers brings their house of cards down in the next 5 to 10 years. View

No, MS controls it's certification program! If a device hasn't been tested it shouldn't be badged with ANY flavor of Windows logo. MS doesn't get a pass for the p*ss poor quality control that permeates every division from Windows to Xbox. If you wanna give MS a pass for offering you cr*p at a premium price that's fine, but most consumers expect more dollar than MS has ever been willing/able provide. View

Please, the best MS can hope for is to match Wii sales. For that to happen they'd have to bundle the Arcade SKU with a Wii & the Pro/Elite SKUs with a h**ker. View

Price is only a factor when there is actual demand for a product. Nobody wants a 360 at this point which is why PS3 is able to outsell it at a higher price point. MS is in trouble & they're going to be in even more trouble once 3rd party developers find out that sales post price cut have remained flat. View

Blu-ray hasn't gained steam which is the problem. Yes, Iron Man caused a spike in Blu-ray sales without a complimentary spike in DVD sales because it was originally released on DVD last year. The upcoming releases of Iron Man & Dark Knight are not going to yield the same skewed results because the Blu-ray & DVD releases will occur simultaneously which means you'll all get to sit back & sulk over how pathetic Blu-ray sales really are.

I own a PS3 & I will be buying Iron Man & Dark Knight on DVD, ripping to Apple TV & watching on my 720P DLP. View

12 percent of the TOP 20 UNIT VOLUME is NOTHING when you consider the sad little truth that NOTHING was released on DVD last week except a direct to DVD Little Mermaid movie from Disney. View

The way we use content has already changed & that change is going to hit the mass-market consumer long before Blu-ray has a chance to succeed. Last weekend I sat on my couch & watched the first two seasons of Dexter without having to get up to change a disc. The convenience offered by digital distribution far outweighs the benefit of Blu-ray. Not sure why everyone thinks digital distribution means downloading from the internet, because I've purchased the bulk of my digital content from Best Buy in a clamshell over the course of the past 12 years. Yes, people will continue to prefer a disc over a download, but what we do with that disc is changing. The next wave of TVs are going to be capable of streaming video content from our home networks which begs the question: How are we going to get video content on our home networks.

CD has been the defacto MP3 source since the PC CD-ROM drive was first introduced. RealNetworks just launched RealDVD which reduces DVD to a source for video content. If RealDVD is able to stand it's ground against the DMCA then it's all but guaranteed that Window MediaPlayer & iTunes won't be far behind. View

Yes, but CD survived a horde of competitors over the years that tried to usurp it's reign:

MiniDisc
Super Audio CD
DVD Audio

CD survives to this day because it was a convenient source for MP3s & something that everyone already had a collection of to fill their iPods. Same thing is happening to DVD (See RealDVD: http://www.realdvd.com/ ) which is why Blu-ray is fighting an uphill battle it hasn't a prayer in h*ll of winning. View

Where'd all the PS3 supporters go, because there isn't a single one responding to this thread. The Cell processor was designed to stream media & the PS3 is a media center. Blu-ray was a stop gap measure to kill physical formats because Hollywood would prefer we not own content. If you are a proponent of physical formats you were an HD DVD backer, because every PS3 owner knows DD is the future which is why we purchased a PS3. View
