What's wrong with Shadowrun other than the price it launched at? Shadowrun is a great game but by no means a game that should have cost $60, the fact that FASA was closed down months after... :(

Poorin one out for FASA, also celebrating their last attempt. You should have seen the turnaround for that game, it looked like crap when it was first shown, like something running on the Halo: CE engine. Thanks to "FASA University" Gitleman was able to turn things around in 2 weeks with some pretty nice results. Too bad that kind of brilliance was over looked by Microsoft.

Anyway, the deals aren't bad but Steam has really set the bar. Still bought both Viva Pinata and Shadowrun though. This is pretty old news, this deal has been running for just over a week!

Edit: For those wondering, the Shadowrun online community is still pretty strong, on any occasion their are at least 12-15 servers running with most of them being full. A few people on the GFW forums are even talking about setting up dedicated servers for the game. Viva Pinata is great too, controls surprisingly well for a game that was built around the controller. It's easy for Capcom to say because the $10 or so they take off at retail they make back by selling you DLC unlock codes.

SFIV unlock code packs on the GFWL marketplace for instance have been a top seller alongside the Fallout 3 packs. =/ View

Great price indeed, still working my way through The Lost & Damned but right after that I'm getting The Ballad of Gay Tony. I think these games will have long selling legs. View

The Crimson Skies people are behind it so I doubt it will be a bad game given their track record at FASA. It's all on Capcom to market the game. View

This was stolen from a house along with other things. I doubt they would put much effort into tracking stuff stolen from a store since once the stuff is out on the market it is usually sold. If you are buying stuff, how do you know it's stolen? (since you can only be charged if you knowingly buy or sell stolen merchandise in North America), a lot of questions play into it. View

Sony won't fund it of course but you made it look like they would cut funding for their first party projects all together. I'm sure Insomniac has enough to get a new project started. View

Why would Sony do that? Insomniac is a independent studio and for Sony to cut funding IF they got multiplatform would be bad for them.

I love Insomniacs work so I'd buy their game. View

Microsoft's PC deals (Shadowrun, Viva Pinata, World of Goo, Osmos, Where's Waldo, and Mahjong being 50% off) are way better deals but they both pale in comparison to what Steam did. =/ View

The fact that a NPC from the original game (aka not from a patch) was asking you that is ridiculous! They are basically asking you to bend over, what about the people who play the game without access to the XBLM, PSN, etc? View

BioWare? You mean the same company that added NPC's in Dragon Age that ask you to buy DLC if you want to continue the discussion?

Yes, you can never feel shortchanged with them!... View

The cost of making videogames is rising especially when tech is made from the ground up, that's why many developers opted for U3 this generation. The article isn't the only time this was stated, CEO's and other people from Ubisoft, EA, Midway, etc have said similar things in the past.

Keep in mind, once the tech is in place the cost goes down. For Midway for instance they put all this money in the Unreal engine yet they had to build up on it to make the engine worthwhile for their studios. The engine wouldn't accept the changes they wanted so a lot of resources had to go into getting things to work. Because of this the amount of games they had to sell to break even would increase. If Stranglehold failed to meet expectations a game like MK vs. DC would have had to sell 500k more to make up for it. Unfortunately the money especially in this economy never delivered and Midway is essentially gone now. (this was all revealed on the Giant Bomb podcast a few weeks ago for those who want more info)

That is one extreme example of this but similar examples can be seen in the industry. View

You mean games that all individually sold over 1 million units in the first month of release? Games like Halo Wars, Forza 3, and L4D2 which were so successful that they earned DLC and were able to earn spots on the top 10 most played games while connected to Xbox Live list all while receive critical praise?

Yea, forgotten flops indeed... View

The inspiration for the original Metal Gear cover actually came from Michael Bien in Terminator, since it's "the other way around" (aka the character was modeled after Bien) I don't think it should be on the list. :P View

Did you happen to miss the part about the Alcohol? Or even in the title "Drunken women"? View

Pennywise: Ubisoft knows this is one of the biggest releases of the year, as such the DLC probably wasn't even finished so they decided to do this instead of delay the game. Make more money or less, what a toss up!

Edit: The game from day 1 had two unaccessible memory areas, hence it was most likely removed because they wanted to repackage it or it wasn't ready and they didn't want to delay the game. View

How is this great news? I assume you are all for patent trolling until your company of choice will be hit by it? View

That's a pretty good deal, I have 2/3 map packs already so this won't appeal to me much. View

Take Two is banking a lot on Bioshock 2, Mafia II, and Red Dead Redemption (even releasing it two years to the day of GTA IV), Max Payne 3 should do great and hopefully the Agent delivers and people buy it. Borderlands should have some legs as well, "Fallout" + Co-op = Win!

I'm also always up for a good third person shooter so hopefully Spec Ops: The Line delivers, it looked promising in the trailers. Hype for it in 2010 should do a ton for Take Two in 2011. Sales for Episodes from Liberty City will hopefully pick up, 4 GTA games in one year...wow! I remember a time when the PSP versions alone would sell million! =/

I feel sorry for Take Two, they aren't as "evil" as some of the other companies their side yet they have to go through all this s**t! View
