Why even ask???
Solid Snake is THE man; he's gotten himself into - and out of - a countless number of pretty funky situations.

Whereas Master Chief's character is as three-dimensional as his facial expressions.

Stay tuned for IGN's next poll:

Nice to see
some proof in the pudding that R2 isn't comprised of "bland and outdated graphics" like numerous reviewers/haters claim.

Personally, I was blown away by not only the (obvious) majestic scale, but the fine and sharp details that went into the models, environment and textures of this amazing game.

What's even more amazing is hearing anyone claim otherwise. View

A big, fat, AGREE!

As far as I'm concerned, the single-player campaign was a twelve-hour thrill ride! It's beyond me why many are so critical about this game, understating the positives and over-emphasizing the (questionable) negatives.

Without giving away anything story-related, I have only a few MINOR gripes about the game:

-Can't kill those damn fishy-monsters
-Would've liked to have commanded some vehicles/robots (as with the first game)
-Ending scene felt a little too abrupt
-Mmmm...can't think of anything else at the moment

Man, I love this game. View

Insomniac, you are...
The BEST!!!

I'd never be able to make it, but the least I can do is express my gratitude towards Insomniac, for consistently delivering, raising the bar, and keeping me constantly awe-struck and euphorically entertained from Christmas, 2006 to present...and undeniably beyond!

By far my most highly-regarded game development company. View

"...i don't need more reviews to convince me of anything."

Understatement of the century, my friend. More bubbles for your common sense.

Thank heavens I don't rely on reviews to buy games, or I may have missed out on the best FPS I've ever played in my life (and I'm counting my long-standing sweetheart, the Half-Life series in that equation).

The scale, detail and chaos this game dishes out is HUGE, and unmatched by anything I've yet to see (although It's to my understanding from numerous Beta testers that Killzone's likely to take the crown, come early next year.)

Yeah, this onslaught of R2-downplaying reviews was pretty much the last nail in the coffin as far as the already-questionable credibility of these <ahem> "professional" reviewers are concerned.

I was already burnt bad enough by getting suckered into the GTA4 hype, inaccurately overrated by the horde of head-scratching perfect scores the game received - and regret my purchase (and misplaced confidence) as a result.

Bottom line: If you're an FPS fan, I URGE to you give this game a go. It is hands-down, A-MAZ-ING!!!

Easily a solid 9.5 out of 10.

(Hey, THEY can score it; so why shouldn't I?) ;) View

I feel your pain, brother.

Been going through MAJOR gaming withdrawal symptoms this past year, since my little guys were born.

Hurts to have the Resistance Beta sitting on my system, having played only three rushed late-night sessions, and knowing that it's ending tonight.

I'm going to go have a tender moment alone and hug my Sixaxis now...before "they" wake up. View

Wow...now THAT, my friend, is what you call a thorough response. You've even taught me stuff that helps me better understand the Beta (i.e., weapon pairing).

Much appreciated, and definite bubbles!

(and confirmation of a full-blown multiplayer campaign is awesome...makes $60 for this game come across as a real bargain!) View

Looks way better than I expected
Hope it's not one of those "good from far, but far from good cases."

I might actually give this one a rent...I had a blast playing Call of Duty 3 using the Wii controls. Even though the graphics were sub-par when compared to the versions the Big Boys had to offer, it didn't matter because the aiming and motion system made it so fun. View

It's a funny thing...
the first time I played, I jumped into a random deathmatch for about twenty minutes, got my ass handed to me, and wasn't overly awe-struck by the gameplay and graphics (granted, it was a bit of a rushed effort, and getting pwned never helps.) It was good, but I wasn't blown away like I was hoping to be.

But on day two, I jumped into a four-player coop match and it felt like an eye-opener. First off, the game was the most fun I've ever had in online play...absolutely, totally, AWESOME!!! Not only were the gameplay and AI rock-solid, but with all the chaos ensuing, the game didn't hiccup or lag even once.

Also, upon first play, I didn't realize the amount of staggering detail that has actually gone into the models environments, and textures. The haters' tiring excuse that Resistance is "all gray" is put to rest. Matter of fact, one could argue that the colours are over-saturated. But take a step back from the frag-fest, and you'll realize how astounding the graphics actually are.

After a satisfying Objectives Complete, I jumped back into random deathmatch, and can happily say that I had just as much fun. I'm still coming to grips with the rest of the games aspects (Berserk, Player Roles, Weapons, etc.)

All I can recommend is that you carefully map out your controls to your liking so that they're more easily accessible than the defaults...especially the Walk/Crouch, Grenade, and Zoom functions - which should be accessible at the drop of a dime.

Either way, I'm more stoked than ever for November 4th to arrive.

One question regarding the eight-player coop in the full game:
Will it be a full-fledged story campaign a-la Nathan Hale, or more like the Beta, which consists of relatively short rounds of random mission objectives? View

Now that's just dumb.

As if review scores hadn't already lacked ENOUGH credibility before this fiasco. View

Read the last paragraph of your referenced article:

"Microsoft has proclaimed that it has learned from Sony's PlayStation 2 glitches..."

Oh, the irony!

Ditto!...see you both there.

This really makes up for my bitterness resulting from the dud code EB gave me last week for pre-ordering. The morons just kinda shrugged their shoulders and said, "geez...that's too bad it doesn't work, but don't know how I can help ya."

It's Incredibly Ironic
how the dude must rely on a PS3 to gloat about his system in such a way.

Which system is 'taking a dump' on which in this case, is actually a matter of perspective.

(Nice level design skills and creativity, nonetheless.) View

"...I know the Remote Play gameplay stuff is kinda useless..."

On the contrary, I love remote play; I played the greater part of the entire original Metal Gear Solid game earlier this year, streamed right through to my PSP.

Although it can't compare to sitting in front of big-screen TV, with a cozy lil' Sixaxis at hand, it is an absolute Godsend for those of us who don't always have the luxury of doing so. View
