While I agree Sony pretty much dropped the ball with that $249.99 price tag, most people are completely forgetting that this product is not designed to replace your PSP. It's not a PSP 2, it's a modified PSP. The PSP Go is merely an evolution of the PSP in the exact same fashion as the PSone was a smaller, slimmer version of the PlayStation and the PS2 Slim was a smaller, slimmer version than the PS2. In other words, it's a mid-life product cycle refresh and it makes sense. As time goes on, you'll make improvements to your device where you see fit. But, did you completely forget that Sony said the PSP-3000 isn't going anywhere? The PSP Go is merely a refresh in the product line. It gives those that don't have a PSP another reason to get one, but if you currently have a PSP it's not meant for you to run out and feel like you have to replace your PSP.

The price by Sony is still questionable and ideally it would have been much better if they lowered the price, but seeing as how they are keeping the prior PSP in the lineup AND adding a new PSP I know enough about business to understand that you can't drop the price in that situation. A cheap price is unattainable when you are keeping multiple products in the same lineup because you have to recoup the manufacturing costs of now producing TWO models instead of just one. If the PSP Go was replacing the PSP-3000 then no doubt would the price be cheaper, but seeing as how Sony has to now produce two completely different devices (from a manufacturing standpoint) it's rather difficult to do that.

This post is really just senseless whining about absolutely nothing. If you don't like the PSP Go, don't buy it. You even mentioned yourself that there's nothing new about the PSP-Go in comparison to the current PSP other than an internal memory, which can be attained by a memory card for a few dollars less. So, why are you complaining then if you realize this? View

@Kionic
Bethesda puts out quality material and you know the console versions won't be that far behind, they just won't be that 'smooth' as what's currently being shown off for the game. If you go look at Fallout 3 PC pictures and then compare them to the console versions what you mostly notice is that the textures are just far better on the PC when equipped with a high end rig and it's incomparable. Resolution is also higher on PC and the game generally runs a lot better. However, as we saw with Fallout 3 for consoles they weren't in any means ugly - just not up to the level of what a high end PC rig could dish out and I think that's what caught these guys' attention. I don't know if I'd exactly count a console bundle as promotion because a lot of people actually ignore the games in most bundles because statistically the bundle games have often times been on the 'weaker' side. Take the common 360 game bundle of Kung Fu Panda and Indiana Jones. Not necessarily bad games (I quite like the Lego series I must admit) but doesn't exactly scream blockbuster either.

I don't know if I'd say MS under advertised because I definitely remember seeing some commercials, but at the same time, I definitely can sort of understand their argument since it was suppose to be "such a big game" for the 360 and yet MS didn't advertise the game to the extent of their gem, Halo. I would imagine that they expected the game to be advertised to the extent of Sony's Gran Turismo since I'm pretty sure that no one would argue that is the competition MS was targeting by acquiring the PGR series. Knowing that PGR series was MS's ace in the hole against Sony's flagship racer I'm pretty sure all the developers expected to get treatment on Halo level, which obviously was not given.

If you take sales in to account, though, they'd be right in their argument in regards to sales. To date, PGR4 has roughly only sold about 1.6 million copies and we're going on its 3rd year in existence. Not a bad number by any means, but definitely pretty low for a game that's directly competing against the GT series. It didn't exactly have a strong early launch sales report either and actually just sort of fell in line with everything else.

It's a wishy washy situation either way you look at it, but I understand their argument. I would sort of take this as a lesson learned though as a development standpoint and the reason is quite simple: Halo. Halo launched end of September and PGR4 launched I think mid October (not sure exact date, but I know it was in October). MS will always heavily advertise Halo before it advertises anything else so I'm pretty sure PGR4 wasn't given the attention it deserved probably because of that. I would be willing to bet that whatever few months surrounds Halo ODST's release might be a bit slow for other blockbuster caliber releases because I'm sure they know by now that if you want any attention on 360 you have to release your game away from anything Halo related. Case in point: Gears of War franchise didn't even launch in the same year as Halo titles, and probably for the better. View

Umm...
I dunno this is definitely one of the cooler collectible items. It's pricey, but cool. Lets just hope it's not cheeply made like the majority of other crap items that have come with these limited edition games over the years. View

FFXIII going to 360 will have as much impact as GTAIV on 360. Meaning, the game won't help 360 sales, but it will hurt Sony sales in the sense that now gamers that wanted to play FFXIII that own only a 360 no longer will go out and buy a PS3 for the game. However, only gamers that own a 360 will buy the game on 360 and I doubt the 360 will see any increased sales (much like GTAIV) as a result of the move.

In other words, the move hurt Sony more than it helps Microsoft (if that makes any sense). However, because the game will be available in more areas on PS3 than 360 (especially in Japan) I'd imagine that the PS3 sales will outpace the 360, but I'm not going to guess as to by how much. Also, a lot of unknowns are still up in the air about the 360 version that I think will also factor into people's buying decisions; such as how many disks the 360 version will have, whether or not the graphics and sound quality is inferior to PS3 due to 360 disk compression and also whether or not there are any tie-ins with FFXIII Versus for the PS3 (or whether or not this game will also make it to 360).

Also factoring in that PS3 will more than likely see a bit more content for FFXIII along the road to completion (Blu-Ray demo disks to come packaged with the Blu-Ray movies more than likely, etc.) could also potentially swing favor of the game to Sony's system, as the first demos of the game have a high chance of being released on PS3 first. Given that the 360 version won't even begin development until the PS3 version of the game is complete, I'd say that this is very likely that PS3 gamers will see demos and other content of the game before 360.

However, as aforementioned, this does not spell doom to the PS3. This move just hurt Sony more than it helps Microsoft, as you won't see people buying 360's for FFXIII, but neither will you see 360 gamers buying a PS3 for FFXIII any more either (which would have been the big increase in sales for Sony) since the game is also on their platform. Unless there are some major differences between the Blu-Ray PS3 version and multidisk 360 version, both versions will sell respectively on each console. Like I said, this move just took away Sony's advantage of being able to increase their console sales significantly.

But, there are still a lot of great first party titles announced and more unannounced that will help Sony next year. Don't forget about big franchises Sony could potentially bring back, including Shadow of Colassus, Sly Cooper, Rogue Galaxy, Ico, The Mark of Kri, Jet Moto, Twisted Metal, Crash Bandicoot and Dark Cloud. Sony has a very strong history of excellent first party titles that are far greater in numbers than the competition.

On a side note, I don't see why people found this so surprising. We are fast approaching the end of Third Party exclusive games. The costs of developing games in HD is too high to limit yourself to one platform and developers know that. Most of 360's exclusive have all ready been announced to find their way to PS3 as well and more will come. What will make the difference in the future will not be third party games; it will be first party games and that - as of right now - is something Sony has a lot more of (if they choose to bring them back). So a game that - as far as I know - was amongst the highest praised at E3 by most gaming networks is going to suck? That's definitely just taking a shot right there and GameDaily only survives because they make articles like this that generate hate traffic. Seriously people, they are owned by AOL (another dieing company) so just stop visiting them and eventually they will just die off. View

As a fan of the Ready to Rumble series I was looking forward to FaceBreaker and after playing the demo I was left pretty shocked at where the game is currently. It's definitely a button masher. I even tried to add a little bit of strategy into the game and the game refuses to let strategy work. Even counter moves are activated by button mashing. Getting your ass kicked? No problem, just hold the counter button and keep pressing the punch button as fast as you can until it counters.

The game is more like Sock-Em Bockem Robots in digital form more than anything else.

Even more ironic that EA made comments about how "forgettable" Ready to Rumble characters were and the other flaws the game has and their game isn't even as polished. Gotta love that marketing team. View

This Story is so Far Off it's not even funny
First off, MS just re-set in stone that when the new Xbox Live dashboard hits this fall that all multiplayer access through Xbox Live will continue to be Gold Membership. Currently, the games that are listed on this site have all ready been reported to be "limited free play" and will eventually stop by MS. More than likely, they are limited free play to give thrifty gamers the chance to at least play online so that hopefully they enjoy it enough to pay for the service. Notice also that the games that are free are the ones no one is playing on Xbox Live.

Sorry to burst people's bubble, but Xbox Live won't be free any time soon, if ever. View

The iPhone will dominate the Mobile Cellphone gaming category, but in its current form is not a contender in the gaming handheld division for a lot of reasons. First, to comment on the graphics: no, it's not on par with the better crop of PSP games graphically and I'm really shocked that some people seem to think so.

Second, people forget that this is a cell phone and gaming is a secondary option. Also, there's no media storage format and since the iPhone does not offer an option for expandability via an external memory card slot, games would be forced to have to be installed on the built in HDD. This poses a huge problem because it's not as if the 16gb HDD (the largest available) is dedicated solely to gaming. But rather, it's being filled by music, videos and other cell phone applications that users load onto their iPhones. Because of this, developers will never completely embrace the iPhone as a gaming handheld because gamers would have to constantly be removing/restoring data onto the iPhone when they want to play a game because they would have to make room. Anyone that's also used an iPhone would know that this process is no picnic, as you have to remove your entire library of music/videos when you want to put something new onto the device, which can take a bit of time if you have a lot stored.

After that, you forget that the iPhone is a phone; and I'm not talking about limitations. I'm talking about in order to play the games, you'd have to purchase the phone on a 2yr contract if you want to buy it the affordable way. Or, your alternative is to buy it outright at around $500-$600.

In the end, iPhone games will be great additions for iPhone users and no doubt will be the most advanced games on a cell phone. But, it will not be a contender in the gaming handheld market for the reasons mentioned above. View

Am I Buying Bioshock?
@ jaja1434,

Nope I'm not. All ready own it for PC. Like I said, I don't wait a year for good games to hit a system. I just go out and play it. View

First off,
For those wondering what's next to the 360, it's a PS3. The dimensions are exactly on par and you can even seen the cables from the controllers from it. It's not some sort of black box, it's a PS3, plain and simple.

For those that have played MGS4, you will understand why people are highly skeptical about it being ported. It has very little to do with fanboyism or PlayStation loyalty. Putting aside disk space (MGS4 would have to be at least 3-4 disks on 360), etc. the main reason why I think it's highly unlikely is that there is a lot of Apple, Sony and even PlayStation history directly embedded into the actual story. There are PS3's and PSP's all over the place, Apple logos on everything, all the phones are Sony Ericsson's and Otacon and even one very cool battle that I won't spoil for anyone speaks of the PlayStation history and talks about the power of the PS3 directly in the cinema. They would have to either cut out certain scenes entirely, which would severely alter the game, or they would have to rebuild them completely, which means bringing everyone back for another round of editing (voice actors, programmers, graphics artists...the entire team).

So, is it possible that MGS4 could be ported? Yes, it's possible for the sake of Konami wanting to make as much as they can off the game. Is it likely? Not really. The costs associated with re-editing the entire game would be pretty high and given that a port would more than likely be at least a year after the PS3 version, sales of the game for 360 would be incredibly low because anyone that WANTS to play MGS4 is not going to wait a year to play it. Regardless of whether or not you own a PS3, those that want to play the game will find a way to play it, whether it's at a friends house who has a PS3 or if they just went out and bought a PS3. The only sales for 360 that would pick up would be those that aren't fans of the games and are picking it up for the sake of owning or trying out the game (I'd estimate that less than half a million would sell if it came out for 360 a year later). It wouldn't make Konami their money back on the costs of having to port it.

So, for those reasons I think it's unlikely.

As far as the 360 in the video, I saw that as well. But, if you've been paying attention to anything, MGS4 was the only game Konami has signed on as an exclusive. Everything else is multiplatform. End of story. View

It could be anyone, but here are my votes if a secret vote is going on:

1) Kratos
2) Any Final Fantasy Character with a big ass sword (seriously, where is Squall or Sephiroth... they'd fit into Soul Calibur pretty easily)
3) Sora (keyblade ftw!) View

People cry way too much
Ok, this has to be one of the dumbest things people are crying about. I'm sorry, regardless of what he said, it's just one person's personal opinion and regardless of whether or not it's true or not, it's just an opinion. The fact that this has become a news story says that some gamers are just constantly looking for something to argue about.

I have something for those of you crying over this:

Seriously, there are more important things to worry about and the fact that THIS is what was taken from what was otherwise a pretty nice announcement just speaks wonders about how much people prefer to complain rather than to just play games. View

Bale's a good choice, but I was still swinging for Hugh Jackman. He has the looks, the voice and even the damn body build of a young/middle aged snake. Plus, the Wolverine and Snake characters have very similar attitudes (minus the extra aggression from Wolverine) so he's all ready sort of groomed for the role. Christian Bale obviously has action movie role experience as well, but it will be harder to groom him for the role I think due to his face (he's got a pretty boy face and Snake is anything but a pretty boy; whereas Jackman all ready has the Snake face... just add some chin hair and you're set) and his voice. Just depends on the game
MS has bought a LOT of exclusives and just as many timed exclusives and how has this helped this so far? I guess if you were to take things into account at this point, not so much because the PS3 has steadily been gaining speed despite all the money MS has spent to boast about a bigger library. The choice of games MS made to purchase were great titles, but none of them were system sellers. Bioshock, Mass Effect and a few others all good games, but they aren't system sellers.

Exclusives are definitely going to slowly deteriorate over time mainly due to the costs of developing games for the next-gen hardware. It only makes more sense from a profit standpoint to put games on everything.

However, looking at the games that have been system sellers almost in history really, very few third party titles have achieved that. Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, GTA (before this gen) and a small few others have ever achieved that status. The majority of system sellers have always been first party titles (Mario, Halo, God of War, Gran Turismo, Zelda, etc.).

In the long run, do I think Sony needs to buy more exclusives? While I would like to see them do it, in all honesty their strategy of NOT just buying every big game exclusive hasn't hurt them as much as people seem to think. We've also all seen the articles about the PS3's momentum and how their late 2008/early 2009 lineup will be what pushes them closer to the 360 in worldwide sales...and what were the games that were mentioned? Little Big Planet, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5 (full game), Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, and a few others. Oh crap, aren't those ALL first party titles? Yup.

Sony doesn't need to worry about buying exclusives. They just need to bring out some great first party titles because that's what sells. They still have a lot of older franchises that they own that they can bring back as well (Shadow of the Colassus, Sly Cooper, Mark of Kri, etc.) and I wouldn't be surprised if those are all in the works.

So, if you're going to buy an exclusive, might as well be on a game that's going to push sales (MGS4 would be a great example as a more recent game) and not games that will only give you short time bragging rights, which is what MS seems to be buying up and they are missing the only third party games that have historically sold consoles. The next major third party title that will sell systems? Final Fantasy XIII. And unless things change, that's also only a PS3 game.

Sony's strategy has never been one that many people understood, but in the "long run" I think they know what they are doing. They don't do great on the short run, which is what MS I think does better on. View

Right because I'm sure there has NEVER been a movie where people have ran around a city, blown it up and killed people, had a lot of cussing and mafia people in it? Oh crap, did I just describe almost every mafia movie ever made?

There is no such thing as a GTA movie. Instead, it was movies that inspired GTA, especially GTAIV where much of the story is a poor iteration of better mob/mafia movies out there.

So I guess in a more technical sense, what this story should have said, is that you'll never see a movie named "Grand Theft Auto", but there are plenty of movies that GTA takes inspiration from.

And I guess just to throw something really old school out there as a foundation of my story: Resevoir Dogs View

I wouldn't go that far Sonarus
The problem with Konami's bundle is that it was the 40gb model. Had it been the 80gb model it would have been flying off the shelf. Hell, I've had my PS3 since launch but I probably would have bought one just to have it had it been the 80gb. No one wants to spend that kind of money for a 40gb model, especially when the 40gb is the gimped version of the PS3. I'm sure Konami chose that to keep cost down, but for a limited edition, they should have gone all out and went with the better version of the PS3. Afterall, it's a limited edition... isn't that the point? Konami chose price over purpose and they are finding out the hard way that when it comes to limited edition consoles, purpose is more important than price. View

Very Unlikely
I agree with both sides of the argument that because of its budget, it would be very difficult for Konami to NOT port this game. However, after having beaten the game, I'm going to side with the PSM Editor in that there are SO MANY references to Sony, PlayStation products and Apple in this game that I think Hideo pretty much said right there it won't be coming to 360. If you move the camera around during cutscenes, especially Otacon on the Codec, you not only will see Apple products everywhere, but you will see PlayStation 3 and PSP consoles all over the place. All of the cell phones in the game are Sony Ericsson phones and they even take a shot at 360 with the Blu-Ray joke over the Codec. You control the MK2 with a DualShock and Sunny plays a PSP. There's plenty more as well. "Sony" is very prevalent in the game and it would take more money than it would be worth to rebuild those sections of the game.

Think of it this way: It would cost XXX amount of money to redesign cutscenes, redo voice acting parts, edit out/replace Sony products, etc. The game wouldn't even hit the 360 for probably a year at earliest. Now, MGS4 is a huge game. Anyone that wants to play MGS4 either would have bought a PS3 or would have played a friends. In other words, fans of the series are not going to wait a year for a port to come out. So, it would cost Konami XXX amount of dollars to port it, sales on the 360 would be lacking because it would be a year or more later and all the big dollars would have all ready been spent on the PS3 version. They wouldn't make any money bringing it to 360 that late.

Plus, for added bonus, you look at past MGS games that have been ported and how poorly sales were. Twin Snakes...sold poorly. Even Subsistence, which was technically a better game for Xbox, sold poorly. Hideo has said that he's always felt the brand just felt at home (no pun intended) on PlayStation and sales of the games have also proven that.

So, from a historical standpoint, Konami has no financial reason to port it. MGS games have never sold well outside of PlayStation. After that, the added cost of changing so many things in the game for 360 would not be financially sound for Konami given that it would not sell well for 360 a year later.

It's a possibility, but a very unlikely one. View

I'm confused about something
Ok, so Apple didn't really announce anything no one expected, but I'm confused about something and maybe someone can clear up.

During the keynote, Apple took a shot at ActiveSync software (that's push software for those unaware...and not a very good one either... in fact, it's the worst out there) by calling it ActiveStink and talking about their 'MobileMe' thing. Well, after visiting the official Apple Store page, it clearly says "ActiveSync". So, MobileME is just a rebrand of ActiveSync? Sort of like VZ Navigator and AT&T Navigator is just a rebrand of Telenav software. I thought this was pretty funny because they clearly expressed their dislike in the software, but it's what they are using.
