The fact is... people are still going to buy the game regardless of this "price hike". I'm sure way more people are just going to buy the regular $60 version than people buy the two other versions (mostly the Veteran Edition.)
Many people just want to get straight to the game and don't want to have to worry about some night vision goggles that they will use maybe for a few hours and get sick of, or go through an art book and DVD for a few minutes just to put them away and collect dust.
It seems (in my opinion) they are trying to do what Halo 3 did, only bigger. The main problem with this is that Halo 3 to many hardcore fans has a lore that has deep story which includes novels and comics. I for one own many of them. So even though I'm a huge fan of Halo I still didn't buy the priciest edition because I honestly didn't feel it was important enough. If you truly want more than a game get the Veteran Edition, but really? How many people do you actually think are going to buy it?
