"Its annoying for us intellectuals to have to deal with imbeciles"

Damn, I lol'd.

First of all, you, as an "intellectual" should know how to spell "It's", but who am I to tell you that. Besides, calling yourself intellectual and others imbecile leaves a slight taste of c0cky-ness (sorry, wordfilter).
Now, there are a lot of fanboys/fangirls on the site. Why? Frankly, I don't give a sh't. If you aren't able to read past the flamebait, tough luck. You, again, being an "intellectual", should be smart enough to not be offended by the crap some people talk, don't you?

"Why isn't more being done to prevent this?"
Prevent? How? Are you able to write a complex algorithm to check the "correctness" of every submitted word, depending on the context?

"The restriction of users to Open Zone is something that isn't used aggressively enough"
I agree. Why is it like this? Because some people like to wine about the crap that happens, instead of doing something against it. In your imagination, are the mods some kind of Batman-esque people, sitting in some cave, an alarm going off every time someone writes something offensive? Newsflash: They aren't. They actually don't see everything that happens.
But there is a hope! N4G is a user driven site (thank god!). Don't like someone? Shave a bubble off of him/her. Disagree. Report them if you must. If he/she crosses the line you draw yourself, PM a mod. It really works. Several people, me included, already did it, with success.

Bottomline: Stop whining, take action.

On a side note: Easy on who you call an imbecile. The ass you kick today might be the one you have to kiss tomorrow. View

... and my sources say that the time around next christmas might not be as cold as last year. Santa Clause also told me this, albeit indirectly, of course.

There is 0 information in the *source*. Judging from that filing, there is a PSP-3000 in some way - and that's exactly all we know. I can make a blog and write the same.

Nothing to see here. View

Yeah, because the last FFs were just 5 hours long... :S
Of course its going to be longer than the demo. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a demo. View

Oh sh't, I lol'd hard.

StreetSkaterFU? The same guy, who was/is a major member of TeamICE? The TeamICE, who told everyone they had hacked the console when they had achieved *nothing*? The TeamICE, who shortly after people called them out, simply vanished? The TeamICE, who single handedly invented the trend of bogus PS3 hacks?

There were a LOT of people trusting this bunch back then. People who thought those guys weren't just in it to get some e-fame.

TeamICE, f'ck you. You have let down those who believed in you and abandoned them. You fooled people - don't expect them to cheer for you now.

If this leads to something, good. If not, it's just the usual stuff they do. View

I never really understood the appeal of those things. Given the (legal) hazzle of getting one, you could as well do some reasearch and learn that you can run OS X on pretty much every PC. Well, that would still be illegal, but you wouldn't have to buy a new computer. View

Ciao Yu Suzuki, R.I.P. ShenMue.
Yes, they can still make a ShenMue, but Yu Suzuki is... WAS the very soul of Project Berkley. Without him, it wouldn't be the same.
Maybe one day he opens up a new studio and continues the saga, but until then, it's dead as it can be. View

10 years ago, when we got our informations about games from magazines, there were announcements. If the game for some reason didn't make it, it got canceled, end of story.
Today, we get announcements that get a clarification that get a clarification. Call me a wuss or oldschool, but that is sad.

But I agree with deeznuts: We need an ultimate press conference with only the big heads of SE and one and ONE ONLY translator that is as fluent as possible both in Japanese and English. Let those guys do the talking, hell, lock them in for a day so that they can talk about this until there is nothing left to misunderstand. This way, we could finally have a clarification that doesn't need a clarification. View

Now, I don't know the game and haven't read any of the critics, but that's pathetic. Even if the game was crap, worse than E.T., Superman 64 and ShaqFu COMBINED, who can say that his next game couldn't completely blow everything away?
I once had a presentation in school that was utter rubbish. I panicked, had a blackout, everything. After that, I was so afraid of talking in front of people, it wasn't funny. What did I do? I pulled myself together, got over that one time and started to work with all my heart again. From that day on, I never failed presentations again.

Besides, even if it is sh't, there will still be people buying and appreciating it. Look at the sales figures for IronMan... View

LOL, true that. But it wouldn't make much sense. Unless they have some insane stuff going on, scripting the scenes "should" take up less space than a HD video. View

I remember them saying, back when the trailer (you know, the one we saw for the last... umm... 2 or 3 years) was first shown, that all the sequences would be done by the CELL in real time instead of using pre rendered sequences. They also stated that they would use the PS3 to the fullest.

This means to me:
-If the game is not very close to 25GB (or 50, if they have the balls)
AND
-there are pre rendered sequences in the PS3 version,
that they simply lied to everyone for the last few years. View

There *IS* a link at the top of the site! Know where? In that small black line at the very top, second from left. You know when I found that out? Two days ago, after visiting this site for several months.

But this proves my point: Nobody sees it, or at least not enough. Make it colorful, make it flashy, because as it stands now, almost everybody ignores it way up there. View

Finally a release date... and one not too far away. If they can keep up with what they established and phase out the shortcomings - as they said they will - this could pretty much become my most played game this year.

Any word yet on if the PS3 version will have custom music? The songs in skate.... weren't really my cup of tea. Yeah, NWA is cool, but after the 100th "I'M HUSTLIN!", I decided to mute the game and listen to my iPod. View

Most recent one:
I told people I was on vacation and couldn't come to a meeting, just so nobody would disturb me while I played MGS4. Didn't do anything but play the game for 12 hours straight.

A while back:
Me and a friend were playing Mario Tennis on the N64, Doubles, we had our characters (not maxed out), against Mario and Boo on the hardest difficulty, maximum game length (forgot which court). We played and talked about every day stuff, like we used to, when we both looked at each other, just like you do when you talk with someone. Only that we didn't look at each other for a moment during the replay or something, we had talked like that the entire match, without even turning our heads to the screen. We won the entire match without our enemies getting a single point, just seeing the screen in the corner of an eye.

And another one:
A friend of mine recommended Kingdom Hearts, so I started playing during my final exams. I loved it and played pretty much every day for several hours to get my brain free. I played so much that I forgot to prepare my presentation (one part of the exams). I had to do it in the night before (cutting music, doing the hand-outs, preparing three sites of pics, writing my notes). In the end I just said "F'ck it, I go to sleep" somewhere around 2 a.m. (I "remembered" my presentation at about twelve) and being awake for something like 30 hours.
Got an A-.

Would you consider any of that hardcore?

EDIT: Also, since I play English (me being German) video games since I'm 3 or something, I always had A's in English, without doing sh't but playing. Every time we were introduced to new vocabulary, I was like "Yeah, I know that stuff, can we do something else?".
Try to explain your teacher you know a language from videogames. They thought I was crazy or something. View

Not every XBox360 owner has a built in HDD and I bet they won't give them out for free.
Not every XBox360 owner has a permanent connection to the internet. Besides, online cache is BS anyway. Connection dies, game can't load. Your wireless acts up, game can't load. Your on vacation and don't have a connection - can't even start the game. View

I don't know if the graphics will be toned down, but something ("content"/"qua lity"[i.e. bitrates, texture resolution, etc.]) will have to be cut someday.
Don't even start with compression. De-compressing stuff takes CPU cycles, which in return mean less power available for the game itself. So maybe they can fit 20GB worth of data on a DVD-9, but the algorithms to make that executable again will take up lots of power.

Want to test it yourself? Take any big amount of data (I'm talking about GBs here, the more the better) and put it in a .rar or .zip or whatever archive you want. Now, start a game that you know runs smoothly. As soon as the game starts, open the archive and decompress it to any place on your PC. Switch to the game again. Unless you play a less demanding game, you will see the impact yourself immediately.

We won't see the drawbacks of de-compression in the next few games, I'd say (don't own one, so can't talk about it). But as soon as games come out that really push the hardware (high CPU load), you will see them choke on it, since power needed for the DC can't be used for something else. View

Dude, it's your second word. It's received, not recieved. Aside from that, names always start with a capital letter. XBox360/Xbox360 (depending on preference), XBox/Xbox Live - those are names of products.
Then you have a fullstop followed by a comma. You type lowercase at the beginning of a sentence (RROD! no error message[...]).

Stuff like that. We all make mistakes, but if you write something for people to read, make sure it looks good. Yes, I'm a picky b'tch, but to quote Tommy Vercetti: "Everything we learn today we already know tomorrow." (Or seomthing like that, I played the German version). View

"Simply put, YALL PS3 OWNERS OUT THERE WITHOUT A MIC NEED TO STEP YOUR GAME UP! See the people in home talking with one another."

No, I don't see the people in Home talking with one another. How could I? I'm not invited to the beta and so are most of the PS3 owners, I'd say.

"Where is that taking place on the Playstation network?"

That's what Home is for, I thought? I can start a voicechat via the XMB, if I wanted to. Why do I need to talk (with a mic) to people, in order to be part of a community?
I am a part of the N4G community and I never spoke to one of the other members.
Penpals write letters, does that make them lesser of friends?

Besides that, F- for lack of sense. The headline is "Community", but only the last four - yes, I counted them - sentences are about community. The rest is about your opinion on flaws of the consoles and to advertise your site by using your catch words (smash, for example).
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

If you would cut all the BS that isn't even about the topic, you get a ridiculously small amount of four sentences, that are barely comments and much less a blog. You want us to buy microphones and talk in a program that most of us are not able to use.
