Kaz Hirai was very disappointed in Reeves lacklustre PlayStation perfomance in Europe

I have a friend at SCEE based who is based on the seventh floor. He said that over recent weeks there has been a flurry of activity at the SCEE offices. A lot of high ranking Japanese staff visting Reeves - Reeves always looking glum. Apparantly Kaz Hirai was very disappointed in the lacklustre performance of the PlayStation in Europe which he attributed to Reeves hands off management style.

I dont understand how it can be approximately equal sales on both formats?
The Xbox 360 was released one and a half years before the PlayStation 3 in Europe.
Over in the UK the 360 is HALF the price of the PlayStation 3.
Shouldn't that mean that much the 360 sales vastly outstrip the PS3?
Shouldn't that mean that at least 75% of sales are on the 360?

Either Rockstar is lying about GTA IV sales being equal on both formats.
Or Microsoft is lying about the number of 360s sold (excluding re-buys)

Its very sad that Moore says these things. HE pushed for the purchase of Rare by Microsoft, NOW he tell us it was a bad move as they didnt have any next-gen skills.

Ballmer is rumored to have said "you dropped the ball" to Peter about the purchase. Moore made mistakes and is using these interviews to rewrite history so that we perceive him better. Cyrus. You did a bad thing. The point of N4G is to aggregate video game news from other websites. What you did was find an article, and change the title so it could potentially be more attractive to N4G members.

Yet Microsoft claim believe that Blu-ray/optical discs will be obsolete in the next-gen?!!

Microsoft were pushing HD-DVD discs.
HD-DVD failed miserably and Toshiba pulled the plug.
Now Microsoft, bitter in defeat, say optical drives will die out with this console generation! That everything will go the downloaded DLC route!

The hardware infrastructure is not in place. This requires consoles/PC with enough storage space to store several movies and games, and super fast internet. I have no doubt this will eventually happen, but not for another 10 years at least. iTunes hasnt killed off CD sales has it?

Forget the Microsoft PR crap, the next Xbox will have an optical drive, and it will probably be Blu-ray! View

Looks like the Blu-ray win is beginning to kick in

Playstation 3 gets an advantage with the Blu-ray press, Microsoft aim to stop it.
But this is the same mistake they made with the Xbox 1. Making it too cheap makes consumers think it has less value. Befor Microsoft stopped production of the Xbox 1 you could buy in the shops with 2 games and 2 controllers for £50 quid! little more than the price of a PS2 game.

Dropping the price too fast makes the wider public think that Xbox are have a closing down sale. View

Xbox 360 problems delay GTA IV. Microsoft have banned PS3 release

I have read on a website that Rockstar had problems developing on the xbox 360. Rockstar's agreement with Microsoft means they cant release the Ps3 version until the Xbox 360 version is ready.
