I don't think there was any doubt that the game would eventually come out.. they've spent too much money to can it now...

and
1) It's leading on the PS3, i read somewhere (i think kotaku) that that there not even starting the 360 port until the Japanese PS3 version is finished. which means it's gonna look as good as it ever would have been on the PS3 had it remained exclusive, then their gonna do a (potentially) lazy port to the 360. If anything PS3 fanboys who care about your point 3 should be rejoicing at the chance to see the head to head comparisons and poke fun at the disc swapping and colour pallet of the 360 version.

2) I couldn't care less about the other square RPG's myself and from what i've read neither did the PS3 fanboys. They look like the usual melodramatic stories with dated gameplay & visuals. I'd much rather see Atlus bring summon night to the home consoles then Infinite Undiscovery.

3) PS2 didn't win last generation because it had the most JRPGs. I think it won because of aggressive marketing and Brand recognition. I doubt the announcement will have a huge impact on console sales. If GTA IV couldn't do it, FFXIII probably isn't either. what would is dropping the 40 gig to $250, which probably wont happen 'till 2010.

So paying for games is worse than just getting them because you had the highest market share 2 gens running? Everyone throws out that monopoly word at MS without seeing PlayStation had one going and MS is stopping the monopoly it had.

Sony doesn't monopolize. It was simply dominant.

While Microsoft will buy and buy until it becomes dominant... and then use its dominant position to try and buy out what competitors it has left in order to totally monopolize.

Anyways, Microsoft can't get MGS4 because even Konami couldn't convince Hideo Kojima to make MGS4 multiplatform. End of story.

Yes, because at least the later is a 3rd party business decision, they did not get bribed, but that is not my point. I think all consoles should get all games except third party games, which is why I do not respect microsoft since they are paying for timed exclusives or to get ports, instead of using the money to build their first party library (and their development studios).

FFXIII will launch for PS3 in Japan. The as it's getting localized the 360 verison will be made and then released side by side with the PS3 version in US and Europe. The "version" thing that everyone brings up is just saying it's the 360 one. It's still FFXIII just like the PS2 "version" of RE4 is still RE4.

The reason it's a big deal is entirely on it being that so many PS3 only people were saying how FFXIII is the biggest thing and owns anything MS will put out on the machine. Basically hype was the factor on why it's such an ordeal.

Versus will be fun but is a spin off from the main franchise. It's good that PS3 still has it exclusive but seeing that XIII was said to never ever be multiplat don't count on it being exclusive till it is released and a year later.

Honestly though if you are a FF fan you are happy that XIII is coming out at all and are not worring what platform it's on. If you are a fan of Square Enix you are happy Versus is still being made while waiting for all the other 360/DS/PSP/Wii/PS3 games they are also making

Heidi Kemps asks when these will ship. Will PS3 and 360 ship at the same time? They say that they are just ready to star Xbox 360 development now. It will release in Japan first. Then, PS3 development/translation will begin, and Xbox 360 version should start about the same time. As for the US, the PS3 and 360 will release at the same time. Europe will also get a matched date, though it may not be the same time as the US date.

Another Japanese journalist asks about Crystal Tools and how it relates to the workload for localization. Kitase answers that it's hard to explain in detail. He says that they make the game to be PC-ready, and then translate to the hardware to the Xbox 360. So, it's PS3 first, and then the Xbox 360 process.

So overall I say it's unclear. I don't really know of any other sources but I still say wait and see. I mean Bioshock was exclusive right?

Still I am not a big FF fan but yeah... I don't get the big deal as I still feel a true fan would want the full deal i.e. Versus. I mean I am getting Quest for Booty because I love Ratchet and clank... Wouldn't people want the fullest experience if they were a fan?

Well sure. Some people may get XIII on 360 and Versus on PS3. Just like I got FFXII on PS2 and FFXII: Reverent Wings on DS ^^

Umm soures will be tough I never bookmark that kind of stuff. If I hunt them down I'll PM you, but like you said might as well wait and see what really happens. FFXIII won't be done any time soon in any event.
