FPS i agree are pretty good at using the controller but your intelligent menu system for RTS is just crap. How many RTS games have they tried to release on consoles? Answer tons. How many have been good? Answer 0. Hell even blizzard one of the greats couldn't even get starcraft to work on console. Why because of the controller. These systems are supposed to be a media hub in our living room. So lets make it happen and get some mouse and keyboard support. Also lets take FPS out of the conversation. FPS can do pretty good with the gamepad. not as good as mouse but good enough. I'm talking rpg and rts. Menus suck lets all just admit this now. Its clunky and makes games play like crap View

I was about to write a blog post on this very subject. I'm so sick of devs trying to shoe horn controls on RTS games and RPG games it makes me sick. This is next gen so lets not stay in last gen mode. Most games the gamepad does just fine but when it comes to rts and rpg its just not fun. Menu's are the enemy of those games. Plus think how easy it would be to drop a nice MMO on us console folks. Hell port WOW over here and lets have some real fun. If the devs make games to at least have the option to use keyboard and mouse then we would all be happy. I'm sick of people say well you have UT3. ITS ONE GAME! All games in my opinion should have that option. If people don't want to spend a few extra bucks on a keyboard and mouse then thats their option. The PS3 for god sakes has usb right up front so it would be sooooo easy. Come on devs quit being lazy and I bet by the end of the gen you will see and ton of people using the keyboard mouse combo instead of the gamepad. I agree Tres. Its more than Home that is the problem with the PSN. Its the total package that we are missing. Home the program to most people isn't really the issue. Its the online stuff that Sony has failed at upto this point that is getting people angry and Home is just the keyword when talking about that. Everyone wants in game xmb and even achievments/trophies/whatever they are gonna call it. We all know the PS3 has the potential to be the greatest thing since cake, and every loyal PS3 owner just wants to see that potential realized. Its like a father watching his son play baseball. You just want to see him hit it out of the park ONCE! View

Thanks for all the comments guys, its great to see everyones opinions, it really helps me get my thoughts into focus. When I say the Japanese may never get the online stuff right what I meant was that obviously they underestimated how important (at least to American gamers) that it really is. Just look at the Wii and PS3. I understand Home is a monster undertaking and Sony reallllly needs to make sure that they get it right. My original post was more about me just venting at the short comings of the PSN. Demo's give me more demo's Sony! In my opinion I truly do believe the PS3 will pull ahead to stay. Microsoft I still believe has hampered themselves by selling as system that has no hard drive and the pure size of a Blu Ray disc is something that I don't think Microsoft will be able to compete with or have an answer for.

All in all now that I have all 3 systems my gaming life feels complete. Both systems have great exclusives, Bioshock is awesome and I can't stop playing GT5 prologue.

I'm a Sony fan first and foremost and I just want to see them catch MS and blow em away honestly. I have a new CPU that has Vista and I must say just trying to game on it has made me angry enough to want Sony to beat them even more. Thanks again for all the feedback from you all. Let me clear a thing or two up. First let me say that I personally like my PS3 better. I agree its a better system, you will never get an argument there. This post was mainly about my first couple of hours with the new Xbox and what my first impressions were. I agree there is alot of crap on XBL but also some very nice things as well. It seems to me there are a ton of demo's to check out and that is one thing I like. Nothing worse than blowing money on a game the blows. I am so content right now knowing that whatever these two companies throw out, I'll be able to have it. Make that 3 companies because I have the Wii as well. I must admit that the achievments really have me hooked though. And conenant my wife has been rewarded properly for her gift = ) Ok maybe that was an award for me as well. View

Very well put. I agree if your a racing fan then this game is creeping up towards a 10. People who don't enjoy racing games just can't totally see why its just so great. As a fan of these great cars this game hits me right where I'm most venerable so I just love it View

To me its not Home being delayed that bothers me. Home is a part of Sony's online strategy to overcome Microsoft with trophies (aka achievements) arcade and social interaction. Its just another sign that the core gamer and most likely all of your friends are gonna being hanging in Xbox Live and Sony's ship has probably sailed on this generation when it comes to playing games online with your buds. Hell on PS3 you can't even tell what game your friends are playing. So it just shows us their overall strategy is really becoming a clusterf**ck. I think at this point they should just scrap home, copy xbox live and lets move forward View
