Critic Bias: Game VS Movie Reviews
574 days 1 hour ago | by: Tony Scarboni
There has been a lot of speculation recently about how game reviews are biased(GTA comes to mind). While I feel these suspicions are warranted I must say that this is nothing new - its been happening in the movie industry for awhile.

Anyone who has seen the new Indiana Jones movie must know what I'm talking about. This movie was downright terrible. It has Goerge Lucas' stink all over it. The characters have no chemistry, the story is all over the place - it never ties its plot points together, and the action scenes are boring. It feels like an Indiana Jones movie directed by Michael Bay, minus the explosions and awsome action sequences.

If you are considering going to see this movie I would have to strongly suggest you save your money. This is the worst Spielburg movie I've ever seen - he totally phones this one in. It is easy to be fooled by the hype surrounding it, rotten tomatoes shows this movie got a critic approval rating of 80% - could this just be that people are sympathetic towards Steven Spielburg and this franchise - much like we are sympathetic towards GTA?

GTA4 debuted with near perfect scores from game reviewers everywhere, yet a month after its release a lot of people have put it down already. The game features enhanced next gen graphics and a multiplayer mode the likes of which has never been achieved, but I myself can't help but get that been there, done that feeling. After awhile that cutting edge feeling wears off and you feel like you're playing the same old GTA you've been playing since the PS2 days.

Now, in all fairness, GTA delivers a hell of a lot better than the new Indiana Jones, but those perfect scores weren't deserved. Now if you would ask me to compare Indiana Jones to a current game title - I would have to cite the underwhelming HAZE. That is a far cry from the 80% approval rating critics gave the movie, this rating is more on par with Ninja Gaiden 2. Indiana Jones is no Ninja Gaiden 2.
