Strategy for FFVIII (PS1) - Power-Up before you head to Dollet
101 days 4 hours ago | by: TheDeadMetalhead
In Final Fantasy VIII, you power-up differently, so you can power-up earlier in the game than past Final Fantasies. Here's how.

High Level Magic
First, junction a GF to Squall and Quistis and make sure they have Draw equipped. Now head to the World Map and level up Squall and Quistis until they get up to about Lv. 20-23. You should notice that the enemies have different magic that you can draw. Here's a list of what Magic you can get now  and which enemies you can draw it from:

Fira (Bite Bug, T-Rexaur)
Blizzara (Glacial Eye, Fish Fin)
Thundara (Caterchipillar, T-Rexaur)
Cura (Caterchipillar, Glacial Eye)
Slow (Caterchipillar)
Berserk (Grat, go into the Garden and head to the Training Center. Draw from them until you have 100. Go to the World Map and give the Magic to Quistis. Go to the Training Center and do it again)
Confuse (See Above)
Now level up Squall and Quistis until they are at about Lv. 28-32. The magic that monsters have will be different again. Here's a list of all the new magic you can draw andwho has it.

Firaga (T-Rexaur only, not Bite Bugs)
Blizzaga (Glacial Eye, Fish Fin)
Thundaga (Caterchipillar, T-Rexaur)
Cura (Glacial Eye, Caterchipillar)
Zombie (Grat, not 100% sure)
Stop (Caterchipillar)
Water (Fish Fin)
Quake (T-Rexaur)

Now, equip these magics to your open slots, and you should be significantly powered up. If you have any questions about a game, comment or PM me :)
