Sony investigated this area of gaming, they held conferences with technical demos but came to the conclusion that it was a dead end after research found that gamers wanted something visceral in their hands.
It wasn't a lack of support, it was a lack of interest. If Sony wanted to, they could have all their first party developers throw in support for whatever they dish up, but they don't. It has nothing to do with balls.
Also, card games seem like an ideal game to be played online. Their system of play (turn based, lag doesn't matter) makes them a viable option for internet play. I never played Eye of Judgement, but from what I heard people enjoyed it.
I can talk about Eyepet though which has proven to be a pretty neat little addition. The PSEye game collection is lacking, but it is there. I'm sure Sony will throw lots of support out for their own upcoming motion controller however, and we've already seen some support behind that (and an actual working product).
