It seems that everyone seems to forget
...that while MW2 was indeed a good boost for the 360, but also that L4D2 and AC2 also posted well for the 360 which I'm sure attributed to the good november sales as well. And when you look at the ps3 I'm sure Sony isn't mad at how it's doing at all. Price cut made it competitive and putting it around UC2 and the holiday was a perfect storm. This generation has been a great generation for gamers period. It's probably the best yet. So everyone have a happy holiday and play hard. View

I will have to concur on your statement. Saint's Row 2 was extremely and still is extremely fun and humorous. I'll back you up and say that it will be hard for me to purchase another GTA game if I know that Volition will continue to make Saint's Row titles.

Please don't every stop Volition...more Saint's Row please. View

I have to say...
...that I like this expansion of the series, and that more games should follow suit. Remember back in the day when Nintendo had a brand of saturday morning cartoons based off of some of there game characters? It's good to see that they're trying to broaden the awareness past the video games. View

I agree with you on all of those assesments. I think that the tech from both companies has a ways to go in terms of not only development but also in terms of what they're partnerships can do with the tech once it's finalized. That's key. I hope that what comes forth is truly deep engaging game experiences that uses this tech the way I had hoped to see from the wii, also I would like to see some casual games that's not just a dumbed down version of a cash in party game. No fable cart bash, and No Socom Party. And I may be wrong but the only FPS on a pc that comes to mind that people still play has to be Counter-Strike, I still give it a spin on occassions. If not clue me in so I can get my mits on it. View

The good:No charts,Crackdown 2,Halo ODST footage,Alan Wake(finally),footage of MW2,and MGS coming to Xbox 360.

The bad:Natal being yet another desperate attempt from Microsoft to cash in on the Wii,no Killer Instinct 3,no Rare,no Mass Effect 2,Beatles thing was too long.Oh,and Cliffy Bs T-shirt was Xtra Smedium.

The unnecessary:Natal,InstantOn with its whopping 8 movies,taking shots at the Wiimote,Facebook/Twitter on the 360,and Left4Dead2 showing this soon.

Overall:B-,good job but there was nothing shown that makes me want to go out and buy a 360.

...."Natal being yet another desperate attempt from Microsoft to cash in on the Wii"...is the PS3 motion controller in the same desperate microsoft boat??? Or is the PS3 Motion controller a Wii Plus Plus and is far more different then what the Wii is doing?? With all of that said, I hate the fact that both Microsoft and Sony wants a part of the Wii's magic. And Sony can say that they had a motion control before Microsoft but is a new controller a way of saying they half-a??ed the sixaxis? No. It's there way of saying we have a remote control thingy like the wii, much like MS is saying we can make you jump around and look foolish as well. I digress. Like when the wii was announced I was the first one excited about the possibilites that it could do for gaming, but when I found out about the hardware limitations I was instantly dissappointed. Now with MS and Sony going full force into the Motion sensing ring we should be happy that both boxes are able to handle intense physic based caculations that makes indepth games stand out. Let's all take a breather for awhile because both companies showed tech demos on stage and MS showed burnout running behind closed doors. Sony's is so early that they was using an engineering designed device. All of this is to say that both companies have shown a real knack for technical achievements and I look forward to seeing how a developer can make both of these devices shine. Lets look forward to something truly amazing and pray that no shovelware is on the horizion.

I never understood...
...when did a game going to the pc become not exclusive when talked about in the context of game consoles??? Even if the phrase "console exclusive" wasn't used, does that not mean it's exclusive to xbox as a game console?? I know some people will try the old argument that pc's where the first gaming console, but pc's are not designed specifically to run just games, the also do spreadsheets, word processing and other misc. apps. And certainly I never knew that Microsoft designed pc's. Even if you call yourself as to never wanting to go near a MS product by buying it on a pc you're still indirectly supporting MS Entertainment division by doing so. Could the argument be made that neither LBP and Gran Turismo is not a PS3 exclusive being that they will be able to play on the PSP? Sure sony makes the PSP but one don't have to spend console prices for those gaming experiences...Yet I digress as being slightly rational here never truly prevails. So yeah those games are not exclusive I hope "whomever" buys them; so the franchises that I enjoy will be able to continue. And GT on PSP looked sic. View

Yes very obvious indeed (evil laughter)...naw only playing. I can't see why anybody would think this is not a good thing. Anytime any of the console makers invest more to produce better products for said console then it's a win win. Win for them and us as gamers...the great and powerfull Kid has spoken. :) View

Oh I completely agree
That dedicated servers are the way to go, there is no arguing that at all. I feel like Microsoft can learn a lot of things from Sony. They have learned a few things but can still take pages from their playbook and vise versa. I think it's good that there's more than one game system on the market cause that is what's going to fuel true innovation.

I am like you in that my 360 red ring, but the customer service support I got was understandable and quite pleasant. I was up and running in two weeks. I know a lot of people give greef to MS for the hardware problems and I almost wanted to burn them down myself. However when they eventually admitted that something was wrong, it was their fault, and that they were gonna pay for it; helped alot. My friend the GameMaster went through 7 ps2's and he didn't even hear a peep from Sony. But, at the time it was the best option for games around because it had all the third party support which made it hard for me to stick with sega (Saturn and Dreamcast: I loved this machine to death).

I'm glad to see that Sony is better with their support this time around then before. It's just tough to see people calling the kettle black when the pot is the same color. But we all had tricks like the towel trick to keep things running that's what made us gamers.I've seen my friend set one of his fat ps2's on a boxed ban to keep it cool enough for a lil longer to play and his slim had to be turned upside down to play it. Was it inconvenient? Yeah, but you keep playing and move on. lol View

@jinxster
First off let me say that I'm sorry about the small font. It was my first time posting a blog on this site and I don't quite have the hang of thier site's interface. And I do agree with you that at the end of the day it comes down to preference and that preference is what you're going to be judged on. And yeah we did throw jabs back and forth about which system is better, but I don't think or remember it ever going so far as a gamer not wanting to play games on the opposing system. They'll grumble for a little bit about not being use to the controls but after awhile they would get the hang of it and play. Not only that but would come back to play some more.

What I'm saying is yes it was always a battle but that battle never seemed as heated as it is now. It could be due to the annonimity of the interwebz and the feeling that you were able to one up someone on a comment by belittling them. The point is that at one time even with the jabs there was still the common ground that we were all gamers and we wanted to play games regardless of what the system was.

You have people here who act like they wouldn't touch an Xbox 360 or a PS3. That's ridiculous. I may not own a PS3 and I may never even buy one, but I can garauntee that if someone offer it to me play I'd be front and center. lol

@WiiManiac

While I do agree with some of your points about the weakness of the Xbox 360 and the Wii, we may have to agree to disagree that PS3 has less weaknesses. Not to say that it has more but I think they are all equal. 360 is hardware, MS should of outsource the building of the 360 to a hardware company like Toshiba, or Panasonic. Wii is forgetting where it came from, it's great that Nintendo is catering to a whole new audience of gamers but by not doing more for the gamers who kept supporting them when that audience wasn't around is heartbreaking. PS3 weakness is Sony, yeah I know what most people are going to say to this. That they made it future proof and you should pay money for good quality yada yada yada. Sony has time and time again got in the way of the succes of the PS3. Entry cost started out high and stayed that way. Marketing for games is none exsistent most likely due to the losses it's taken from the PS3. They can't end support of the PS2 because it's a viable revenue stream. Because the PS2 continues to sell well most people are not going to be convinced to upgrade to a PS3 until that price is right. Things that the PS3 should of had out of the box from day one it didn't and still don't. I mean PSN is free, but still no cross game invites, to chat across different games have now become basic things that it should be able to do. Which is why I say Sony is the PS3 weakness. The PS3 has the power and is capable of having an online community that is on par with the 360 but Sony can't seem to grasp it just yet. It'll get there eventually, when I don't know but I do know that all things tend to come to an end. And the 360's lead in building an online game community is only going to last until somebody else comes up with the next best thing. View

Simple answer to your post
It's another revenue stream for Sony. It's just like you said in your post the PS2 continues to sell well and I'm sure marketing has stopped working on PS2 ads a long time ago yet it still puts up good numbers for Sony. And with the PS3 not being quite where Sony wants it to be they need to keep using the revenue stream from the PS2 and funnel it into bolstering the PS3. View

Hell Yes, Twice!!!
Where did this game comes from??? It's almost hard to believe that this is an arcade game. I mean with a little more investment time behind this game it could be fleshed out into a full retail game. I'm gonna have to keep an eye on this company Twisted Pixel. View

I know exactly where you're coming from. I was surprised/giddy to hear that Beyond Good & Evil was getting the sequel treatment. That game didn't sell well at all and I still hold a torch for Psychonaugts to get the sequel treatment. I'm a game enthusiast so I truly understand how you feel when you see something truly engaging in a game and would like to see the continuation of that game's life. Special shoutout goes out to folklore. View

I'm not hating on EA games and I heard great stuff from my friends about Dead Space, but I have other games that I want to play more that I simply don't have the interest to invest in playing it at the moment. Not to say that I won't ever play it, just saying other games are grabbing my attention better that it's hard to see when I'll be able to play it. I have the demo and I haven't even been able to check it out. View

I agree with you prunchess
I've not only have owned 15 to 20 games, but I've played well over 60 titles so far and not one of those were an EA game. Not saying there games are bad but other games are winning my attention better then the offerings from EA. That's just the plain truth. View

Yessssssssssssssssssssss!!!
I know it can't just be me who can't wait to get their hands on the New Star Ocean. I've tried to keep up with this series since the PS1 days, now that I've migrated to the 360 its good to be able to see genuine RPG support. The first xbox had rpg dryness lol. So it's good to see that we are not only quality rpgs but also average rpgs as well. It's good to have a wide assortment I think. View
