I think quashing the used game market
will be detrimental to the video game industry. I buy an extra two games a month simply because of the discount I get from trading in games. There are also games I would never pay full price for simply because they don't interest me enough or they are not good enough games.
Trying to MAKE me buy something at full price isn't going to work. People want to have/buy choices not limitations.

If this game does poorly.....
it will not be because it isn't good. It will do poorly because of the other titles that release around the same time. Resistance 2, LBP, Fallout 3 are waaaay more hyped than Dead Space.

It's just as well................
The Fallout series has never been easy to mod, and with the game being set in a pretty much standard world of rubble and decay I find it hard to imagine a big mod community around it, people are still modding oblivion. I'd give them a pass this time but expect them in flying colors for TESV.

I think when the next consoles come out will be
determined by a couple factors. There has to be some compelling reason to bring out a new console. The lack of HDD and HD format is already effecting the 360 and to a lesser extent the Wii, but not the PS3. No company is going to build another console just because if all it will mean is a slight improvement of more of the same. We probably won't see new consoles until the cpu/gpu on the same chip matures. Another deciding factor is the U.S. economy. If it really tanks like it is suppose to new console might be delayed.

There never was going to be any PS3 version
I distinctly remember in the left for dead press release that it was not coming to the PS3. However if the publisher wanted it to happen it most likely would but would not be handled by valve.
