that's so much worse than the 3 PS3 games in the top 50.

It's more noteworthy that Nintendo rocked the shi* out of that list. View

@Sakura
the reviewers dislikes had nothing to do with the new ideas and more to do with the lack of old ideas (towns) and poor story telling/dialogue, which has been a problem in general with a lot of JRPGs lately.

Removing towns sucks. They really made the world feel more alive. sucky. The new battle system does look pretty sweet though. View

ok. I will give a better metaphor in a moment. What is your profession? I imagine if someone asked you to clean 300 bathrooms in 15 minutes most people wouldn't call your work unacceptable when all the bathrooms are clean, but the ceilings of two of them were a little dusty.

Bayonetta is playable on both platforms. The PS3 version has a little screen tearing as far as I've heard, but it's still a great game on both platforms. ENDOF. You can whine all you want, but both games work, and it's insulting to call them too lazy or say they have no pride because they probably put in more hours in a month than you'll put in over a season.

People talk about porting like it's easy. It is not at all. Some bugs just can't be fixed, so the features that depend on them have to be scrapped. DEAL. Just because some people make wonderful ports doesn't mean everyone can. Some people can run 4 minute miles? Why can't you run a 4 minute mile? View

1. It probably won't anyway because one is an exclusive and most exclusives will be more optimized than 90% of the non-exclusives.

2. It depends on a lot of things. FFXIII we know is supposed to be 50 hours long for the main storyline. A 50 hour long less visually impressive game is at least as gameplay impressive as an 8 hour long better looking game.

@whoever above was talking about linear gameplay

FFVII (one of the best in the FF series) was pretty linear for the majority of the first disk too. As long as it opens up eventually it won't be that tragic to play it linearly for a while. View

to extend your metaphor
that peg is made of diamond and took almost half a decade to craft and the "square hole" is actually a jagged unfamiliar hole.

It really isn't simple to rewrite an entire codebase on limited time and resources.

Of course I'm sure if you think you can do it better you could email sega asking for a job and in 25 years when your flawless PS3 version of boyonetta comes out you can feel like you really accomplished something. View

it's not the developer's fault...
It's the hardware's fault. You try to port from a PC centric/360 centric architecture to something that's completely different.

I am not saying the PS3's hardware is bad. I am saying it's major architecture differences make some features impossible to port.

IT IS THAT SIMPLE View

I agree with above.
The price of the glasses is ludicrous unless they're the most comfortable glasses in the world. For a set like they have at most movie theatres, it should be no more than $10 (that's still a price gouging price. View

yeaaaaaaaaaa
the camera they are using in that video is an early gen version of natal. It was never released for the PS2 because microsoft ended up buying 3dv.

Natal also calculates a boned character based off the user, which is something the guy in that video says their original version doesn't do on board. The boned character had to be done on the system. Natal processes all of that in the camera, as well as extrapolates that data if part of your body goes off screen.

Essentially what that video shows is that sony missed a large opportunity by not buying the Zcam last gen. View

That's harder than it sounds. The financial investment to make a proprietary engine rather than modifying an existing licensed engine was probably large. I'm sure that Ubi looked into all the pros and cons.

Also, there's a lot of stuff in the background of a lot of engines that makes it easier to just snag from another engine.

A famous programming saying is "Good programmers produce good code, Great programmers reuse the code of the good programmers." There's really no reason for ubisoft to redo all the work that epic already did when they can just pay some money.

Also, they probably used 2.5 either because 3 wasn't out when they started, or it was cheaper to license and had all the features they needed anyway. View

it's really a null issue. Games don't pull enough weight to make demands on networks yet.

It's either you get a sub par show and have awards on a major network, or you don't have awards on a major network at all. I'll take the former. View

it wasn't that disappointing.
Sure the presenters weren't exactly industry people, but it is spike, and they do need to generate viewers. When it comes down to it, hardcore gamers are the minority and casual gamers outnumber us by an enormous amount.

The announcements weren't ridiculous either, but it's an awards show. Save the announcements for a show that's about announcements. You should be thankful there is an awards show. At least great developers get a little main-stream credibility, which is one more step towards the industry being accepted as a dramatic medium. View

regardless of how much a pain they are...
very rarely will police attack people if they aren't justified. They just have too much at stake. This website is incredibly one sided. For an area that should have plenty of cameras, it should be pretty obvious who is in the right and who is in the wrong quickly.

PS: I was beaten by police too <_< >_>... I'm poor, here's my pay-pal account...

I know KZ2 had volumetric smoke. That's what I was getting at. I assure you that has a much larger effect on the feel of the game than anti-aliasing.

I was purely criticizing him saying that AA is what the cell's power should be used for. If you want stunningly smooth edges, go for it. If you want good games, spend the extra cycles doing something relevant to the gameplay/feel of the game. View

I'm sorry...
but the cell should be used for anti aliasing? It's fine for extra SPUs, but why not something that's actually important to the gameplay if you need to.

Volumetric smoke and more realistic explosions being simulated on the cell is a far better use than anti-aliasing when it comes to visuals. View

theyd only slow carmack down.

that guy could probably do this on a cell phone if he wanted to. That is a compliment to carmack, not a cut at the PS3.

megatextures should do a good bit towards making normal AA work better anyway since the testures themselves will be of almost infinite quality already. View

He didn't overhype it...
journalists overhyped it. He talked about his vision too soon, which he should have been rightfully excited for. Just like any other game, features were cut, and it didn't live up to the original vision.

He should have kept his vision under wraps, but it's gaming journalism's fault it got so huge.

Also, he already admitted he said to much way before fable 2 came out. View

it's an article about things with obscure replacement parts.
From it's teaser page:

"Gifts You May Want to Avoid
These devices all have one thing in common: obscure replacement parts."

I'd say the battery in a PS3 controller is an obscure part to replace despite the low possibility of it breaking.

Look at the last one in the article. The complaint is that you have to ship the TV to get it repaired.

"Thats cos we're gamers, and gamers dont care about Wii. Its easily the worst console I've ever owned."

You're an idiot. Any real gamer should care about every major gaming platform. The wii is definitely one. Despite massive amounts of shovelware, there's still a few really great games on the system. Okami on wii (the most logical version of the game), SMG, Metroid, Twilight Princess, SuperMario Bros wii are all great. Even a lot of the mini-game games are good fun to play with friends.

The only reason it's not compared by real gamers is because it's a different part of the market than the 2 HD systems. View
