i knew it was a conspiracy, even if half of the million people who had a console banned bought a new one, microsoft is in for a $100mil profit on it View

this is all part of microshafts scheme, they ban millions, even if half of them buy another console thats $100,000,000 income for microsoft at the $200 price point, they dont care if they ban innocent people, they just like to kick puppies so to speak

but hey, they need all that money after their RRoD blunder.. View

The real reason
the xbox 360 is falling behind is dvd9. this isnt a fanboy comment so please bear with me for a moment.

with such small amount of space compared to a pc or bluray, you have to compress the images to fit on the disc, and no matter how great the compression is, you will always lose quality on it, take a raw image file compared to a jpeg, raw is a purely uncompressed file with amazing colours and sharpness yet at the same time the picture is anywhere from 30 megs upwards, when you compress it down to jpeg you lose a huge amount of quality yet the file is now at a much more sane 100kb, its the same way with games, textures have to be compressed and lose the valuable quality feel of it View

hard drive speed is an extremely critical piece, you can have the fastest processor in the world, but it only works at the speed of your slowest device whihc is the hard drive, which pumps out a mere 384 megs/s on a SATAII configuration, which means anything coming out of that hard drive will only be processed at that speed. Yes, you have RAM but RAM doesnt have everything in it. with a faster hard drive combined with the RAM you can have gigs more data on screen than you can have in your RAM, leaving the RAM free for higher texture sprites, more variations of foliage, etc. thats why we have RAM in the first place, because the hard drives are too slow.
