As Zero said... we can't understand that it is your TV that is the issue... what version of the bravia do you have? You should not be experiencing that if you have the XBR series. View

The more I hear of this game ... the MORE I WANT IT!

the bugs ... lol I love this response:

"Q: What's the weirdest bug you've found?
A: Most bugs are just simply annoying to one degree or another, but every now and then something spectacularly unexpected happens. Case in point: There's one power we have that sends a ball of energy out to damage your opponents. You don't need to target them, because the ball will travel to the nearest foe. However, there was an issue with the artificial intelligence where the bad guys would start to run away from the ball, and it would follow them! It made it really easy to clear a room. But that's not the weird part. The strange thing is that the AI started affecting placed objects, such as signs, barrels and computers, so that when you activated the power, not only would all of the enemies run away, but so would many of the inanimate objects! I asked if we could get the Benny Hill theme, "Yakkity Sax," to play while it happened, but I think they're just going to fix it instead." View

this guy is a complete idiot.... his complaints are spurious.
"I recalled the original PS3 launch-day hardware problems and inferior online experience and thought that it was prudent to wait for the kinks to be ironed out."

my question is - what launch hardware issue? I have 3 of em and they all work as well as the day they where bought and I suspect that 99.9% of others who have launch day PS3s would say the same.
I will grant him that PSN didn't launch with as many features as XLive but it has progressively evolved at an amazing rate. View

.01% will love it - and when it comes down to it - it is great information. Who cares if 99% can't use the info. This is a great article done by IBM for those who use their PS3s as High Performance Computing Research Platforms. And it is appreciated that IBM has been putting the time in to create these tutorials. View

Not nearly as useful as they make it out to sound

1) all developers know data ordering contributes to load times

2) compression - allows a false sense of faster access (data density is higher) but it you want uncompressed non lossy data this does not help (AKA: Most textures and audio on the PS3) View

Nvidia is about to have some serious market share loss....
your looking at the wrong 9800GTX - the one that competes is the 9800GTX+ (with 1 gig and faster processor then the GTX)
The 9800GTX+ is about 200$ more expensive and was overclocked as well. View

drop the fan trolling you two... and for what it's worth
18.1 - So Sony was being original when they copied analog sticks from Nintendo and put them into the PS1?

***************************** *************
dualanalog controller(ps1) was announced 1995 and released 1996 vs
the analog controller(n64) from nintendo which was announce jan 1996
***************************** *************

Or when they copied motion controls from the Wii to make sixaxis? Or when the copied achievements from the 360? I'm sure you'll make up some lame excuse why the console you worship was original but everyone else is copying.

***************************** **************
The PlayStation used a motion controller as early as 1996 (Warhawk) and the intial patents on the Sixaxis are 2004... before nintendo released any info on the "revolution
***************************** **************

otoh - if you had referred to rumble (active haptic response) Nintendo did release before the others did for feedback

which means... who copied who on what? - IT's A WASH. Everybody copies in the industry, in every industry. Good design should eventually move to all products in the same genre or civilization doesn't progress.... Image a civilization without car springs and suspension but with cars.... View

"Doesn't matter to me what or who they bought, as long as I'm getting the good games on my gaming console of preference!
... ...
Again: I don't care as long as they keep the games coming ..."

Nice I finally have found something I can agree with Mart on. Thank you for trying not to troll this time (drop the anti-other console thingy you do and you'll be finally a respected member of the community). Bring the games - forget the rest ^_^

as the article said:
"There are two possibilities. Possibility one is they have a meritorious lawsuit and they’re selling out the class for attorneys' fees.

"The other possibility is that, and frankly I think this is the more likely possibility, they brought a meritless lawsuit that had no business being brought to court at all," he told the paper. View

Complete load of crap without lots more details
It only applies to compressed data

few things to point out...

1) the x360 and the PS3 has the same increase if using compressed data on the disc 2.3x

2) Compressed data is generally lossy (lossless has a limit to compression) so why compress - if you want best quality don't compress data

3) what level of compression are they using? compression ratios vary and so does the speed at which it is compressed or decompressed. If I make the compression lower I can speed up decompress and what they call read time.

4) it does not speed up the drive it reads and loads at the same speed as it did before - but since the compression makes the data density higher it simulates faster load speeds (would not really affect lossless compression - just lossy compression.) View

and yet running 2 of those those £130 they beat the £400 pound card decisively.

hmmm 2 x £130 = £260 vs £400....

if they had run the higher level one then who knows... even bigger spread?

They were comparing Value for $ View

actually they are complaining since it is using an off card cpu to boost GPU performance. If the physX cpu was on the card then it would not be cheating. View

Basically - I would not recommend it !
"Firstly, Walton freely admits the numbers were based on zero actual data for the entire European market, just pure extrapolation. It's also very unclear how far the estimates for launch were based on real retail data for Japan and North America"

"But if I was a writer or analyst trying to extrapolate significant information from the resource, especially regarding those titles which don't chart regularly, given the major discrepancies with other figures shown here, I would not recommend it. " View
