Any MMO that allows you to level without combat for once is a serious innovation and the cute factor on this game is out of this world...
If you have a Wife, Girlfriend, Sister and they are not playing MMOs. Introduce them to this game.

And it still is fun for guys! View

Still ignores that the fact that the 80 gig PS3 was supply constrained.... View

Hmm comparing the sale of a launch game on a platform that had less 1 million units sold at the time to a 2nd gen game on a platform with over 10 million units...

hard to be surprised that it was outsold... when you have 10x as many customers you should expect 10x as many sales... lets see...
total consoles % consoles with game
gears total sales:(epic: 4million)17.7 million ~22%
R:FoM total Sales:(Insomniac: 3.2 million) 10.4 million ~30%

I don't care if metacritic gives gears 90+ and R:fom 88+ the total % of gamers with each console shows which is more popular
and... guess what... not 10x the sales even when they had 10x the consoles... now they are less then 2x and it isn't even that

It definitely was not outplayed or overshone in any department by Gears. View

HUD less design is becoming more popular (guns show how much ammo etc...)

that said - everyone is praising and saying how well antialiased it is so the images could not be real

I was thinking something just the opposite - the particle effects suck >_< - quick and dirty particle effects

take a look at the guns firing....

(the game still looks fun) View

was playing gauntlet (lame eh) with 3 other friends... when you die - visit the rest room. Of course this marathon session was fueled by nachos, alcohol and other noxious substances....

totally - they lowered quality to get under the bar >_<
shading quality was most definitely lowered

"So, we turned to Udon to help solve this problem. First, they identified that all of us (Capcom and Udon) were aiming way too high with our render style. In the original style, we were going using at least 6-8 tones to go from the darkest to the lightest values of a particular color. This, as some fans actually pointed out, is extremely hard to do. We decided to stick it out and go with that route and unfortunately, it didn’t work out too well.

Udon’s suggestion was to take the tones down to about 4. So now, a particular color will go through about 4 shades when going to light to dark. Some tweaking was also done to the line art to match this new rendering style as well. The overall result is a different style that is still going to be in full HD, but will be more efficient to animate and therefore get the game to you guys sooner. It also looks pretty damned good.

Once Udon and Capcom agreed to go with that route, we had to essentially reboot the whole art pipeline. The character art pretty much started over from scratch with new reference art from Udon. Using lessons we learned from the start of the project we are now using a team that utilizes more Udon talent and an outsource partner (still very necessary) that uses a smaller, but more focused group of artists." the game selection they give is actually a very good selection. Usually they just dump shovelware into sets like this but some of the best X360 games are in the list:
PGR4, Dead Rising, Elder Scrolls 4, Forza 2, Viva Pinata, Halo3

you'd probably buy 80% of them anyway so the savings is pretty impressive. The HDD is worth less then 5 of the games so might as well buy this edition and buy the HDD seperately (painful though it may be) View

Pretty amazing deal actually.
even with having to buy the HDD it's still good

personal spaces are just that - invite only.
That means that I don't care what you have in your personal space - I am not going to accidently wander into your private area.

So you can have your porn but it won't be public and even the user created content will be moderated.

"but recognise that moderation and the quality bar are big issues"

also sharing of images and video is not possible in home other then as a streamed event inside your own private space (this was decided so that PSN could not be used to share pirate videos) View

actually they would have to buy a new player
how many current DVD players have ethernet capability?
how many are firmware upgradeable?
how many have firmware that is upgradeable and has the space for a HDi implementation?

(I would argue just the new consoles....) View

actually - the database at an unnamed company that I used to work for is limited to a max of 9 payment types 8 of which can be gift cards (last is reserved for cash or credit to make sure it covers the value of the product)
It's more of a database issue then a "we don't want to take your giftcard" issue. They probably have no desire to redesign their entire database for the 1-2% of people a year that have more then 6 gift cards.
Bad Initial Database design always comes back to haunt you . View

After reading the article - no where does it say that they won't add it to the PC game pack free. What it does say is that they are looking at their options.

That said - this is an EA company now so it seems logical that pay per expansion may be the case. View

Fairy Tales are not meant for the faint of heart no matter what Disney has mesmerized people into believing. Most fairy tales are tragic.

Points at things like the "little Mermaid" as a prime example of Disnefication of fairy tales with lessons that have been lost. View

Does he think that websites have the ability to identify their users that well? Verifying users is expensive and requires some sort of offline verification process - even if such a law passed it would not be enforceable to any degree

And what about of out of country bulletin boards - how would the US moderate them?

He is completely out of his mind and should go back to reading his books beside the fire under candle light because obviously that is the era he is looking at this from. View
