Microsoft should make an add on that would basically be a 3 dvd disc changer. It would hook up via usb to the back of the xbox 360. They could streamline it so its flat and not clunky and take up little space. It could lay right on top of your xbox360. So you have one disc in your xbox 360 and you could have up to 3 discs in the external drive. It would be very inexpensive to manufacture and it could cost as little as $25 to purchase. The first big game to use it could bundle it in with the game. Halo Reach. That would guarantee a good 10 million of those xbox360 dvd changers in peoples homes from jump. The beautiful thing is....it still wouldn't be needed. People could get up and change the game discs manually and play the same game. Or they could purchase the add on for the FEW SELECT games that use multiple discs. This way MS never has to invest in a blu ray add on and they wouldn't alienate all the millions of consumers who may not want to purchase an expensive blu ray add on. Its a win win for both Microsoft and Sega. Sega would have money to fund their game developement, and Microsoft would add a bunch of Great games to their library of 360 exclusives to be and draw all the Sega fans from children to adults. I believe if this is true it would improve both Sega and Microsofts position in the market. View

So, Sony is beating MS this year (2008) so far in console sales (by a small margin)but the 360 still leads in total consoles sales between the 2?

We are going on 4 yrs since the Next Gen console war has been started.

If the ps3 was to outsell the 360 for the next 2 yrs prior to the next next console war....would they ever catch up to the 360's sales total? At this rate? And who really cares the most? Sony fans or Microsoft fans?

When I say who would have thought....I'm talking about prior to the next gen war started, summer of 2005. If some one would have told you (sony fans) that this is how the war would look at this far into it. Would you have called them all kind of names? Honestly. I know the answer because I remember many of you prior to the 360 launch. I remember the things you said about how the 360 would do or not do. I remember you talking about what would happen once the ps3 launched.

But now the same fans are oh so happy for ever small victory in console sales monthly.

Answer these questions..... How many months has the ps3 been on the market? How many of those months did the ps3 outsell the 360? And, why do 360 games sell 2 to 1 over ps3 games with every BIG release? And why do people play their 360 way more than people play their ps3 and wii's? Lastly, do you respect what Microsoft has done this next generation with the xbox 360? After everything you said prior to the 360's launch and what has taken place since? Could you have ever imagined that the console war would be what it is today?

Can a sony fan admitt and swallow his pride and say that the 360 has done much better than they could have ever imagined?

To be honest with everyone, I actually thought the ps3 would be doing waaaaaay better than it has so far. And I thought by this time the war would be alot closer between sony and microsoft.

But why fight every month over small victories. Before you know it, their will be a new war...a new generation of consoles.

I think its great in my case. I now have internet access in every room in my house now with the xbox 360's. From my bed room to my sons room to the den. I have the MS Keypad for my controllers so typing is a breeze. The only thing is I am having problems typing numbers in. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? My son loves this feature. He can visit gaming sites or basketball sites in his bed room.

I'm actually using my elite 360 hooked up to my 61 inch 1080p tv right now, on News4gamers. Sitting back in my living room. It looks amazingly sharp and you can zoom in on web pages on the fly. Pretty good stuff.

So while it might not be a big selling point for the average consumer. I absolutely love it and it works for me and my family.

P.S. sorry ive been away for so long. My son has made the big time with basketball and we've been traveling all over the country. I miss this site but I won't be able to frequent it as often as I used to.

He clearly said that the xbox 360 has sold "More Than" 18 million consoles. Its not that complicated of a quote to grasp. Whats with all the spin and negativity?

It could be 18.8 million. The shortages of xbox 360 consoles the beginning of 2008 is well documented. Whats the big deal? Typically in the after christmas quarter (3 months) the xbox 360 sells between 1 million and 1.7 million consoles total. So its very possible that Jan and half of Feb the 360 has only sold 700k or less. But who really cares and why is it such a hottly debated topic?

Microsoft says it has SOLD MORE THAN 18 million consoles worldwide. That is great news. I was browsing EB games.com to see what new games are releasing THIS year 2008 for both my Ps3 and my xbox 360...and I was surprised to see more AAA titles coming on the xbox360 than the Ps3. I honestly thought that 2008 would be the year of the Ps3. But, what I see is the 360 still going unbelievably strong. This is the 360's 3rd year and they are set to outsell what the original xbox did in its whole life cycle with ease. If the Wii continues selling at the rate it has.....it will sell 100 million in 5 years. WOW...who would have thought? By the time the next xbox launches I see the 360 selling a total of 35 million consoles....and the Ps3 selling 28 million consoles. View

How long till Blu ray movies are outselling standard DVD movies?

Right now its not even close. For some reason I can't imagine DVD sales slowing down. People have dvd players in their computers, mini vans, portable, ect....

New Releases sell in the millions in less than a week. The price of DVD movies are 10-20 dollars compared to 25 to 40 for blu ray.

So my question is will blu ray sales ever match dvd sales?

And when do you think this might happen?

It just seems like Blu ray has an up hill battle against the NOW Standard....DVD.

Is it possible that DVD won't go away anytime soon? 5-10 yrs?

I bought my xbox 360's on Day 1. I bought my Ps3 on Day 1. I buy just about every game released for both systems and enjoy them all.

I bought over 100 HD dvd movies which I have fully enjoyed and I have purchased over 100 blu ray movies which I enjoy as well.

I thought the days of bashing people and their choices were gone with the site updates. I see some people never change.

I don't know what I would do without my 360 or my ps3. I have enjoyed both systems. I'm a gamer at heart and I do have preferences (360) as do most people. But is that really important? What I prefer? No its not. Whats important is that the video game industry is healthy and strong. Great games have been released and are on the horizon. The Wii has outsold everything...but who really plays it often? We all own one. But when we play our favorite games....its not on the Wii. Right? Lets be honest. With me owning all 3 systems...Here is how it breaks down in my house.

1. when my son or I play our favorite games...its mainly on the xbox 360.

2. when my family watches movies (blu ray) we use the Ps3

3. when family is in town we all get a kick out of playing the Wii.

I'm sure I'm not typical...But its how things go in my house.

Right now according to Sony's official numbers and Microsoft's official numbers....The xbox 360 leads by almost 8 million consoles sold.

Now with the Ps3 outselling the xbox 360 (according to VG Charts) by a few thousand a month...it seems like it will take a very very long time. Xbox 360 sales haven't dropped...they have been steady through out its life cycle...while the Ps3 numbers have risen slightly.

So, at this rate...how long till they both have equal market share in this next generation?

And then the question becomes....when will the xbox 1080 be released? 2009? 2010? I know I love my Ps3 and my xbox 360...but I can't wait for the next best thing to be released. With even more exciting advances in tech and games. View

With xbox live having over 10 million people connected via xbox live...and their digital downloads have been breaking records since its inception.....Will it slow down or continue to grow with faster internet speeds and downloading?

When will standard DVD sales slow down? Because they continue to do unbelievably well. WIth new releases selling in the multi millions within days. But yet blu ray titles/ hd dvd titles are lucky to sell a couple hundred thousand.

I myself enjoy my extensive blu ray collection and I'm sad to see HD dvd fail....but at the same time, I'm happy to see one format prevail. But the bigger question is can Blu ray EVER overcome standard DVD? And if and when it can...will the download era have grown and become more feasable by then?

BTW...American Gangster is a great movie, I just picked it up on HD dvd along with Dragon Wars and War on Blu ray. I just love watching movies in Hi Def regardless of the format or if its downloaded. View

In regards to Dj's comment...Its not a false article. The xbox 360 outsold the ps3 2 to 1 according to NPD in America for the Ps3's first full year on the market 2007. Worldwide...there is no accurate way of telling how much is sold/shipped... We can debate that till our faces are blue...Ms stated over 17 million sold on numerous occasions this year. I believe it. You probably don't. Who cares right? But one fact that isnt up for debate is the NPD facts....and they show the 360 outselling the ps3 by a large margin through out 2007 and in total console sales since both launches. And though the Wii has only been on the market for a year...there are still more xbox 360's in N. American homes than Wii's right now. Thats important for developers/publishers to know. View

If it would have released on the xbox 360 it would be at 500k easy in a week or two.....What are ps3 owners buying? Thats one game that I would think Ps3 owners would be excited to get....WOW.....Well, I think developers are learning their lesson....Spending all that time and money for a measily 69k. One of the greatest fps franchises of all time and thats all it does. I have rented it for my ps3 but I'm waiting for the 360 version. Playing games like that with friends is what its all about. All my friends have 360's....and after playing it...I can bet that the 360 version will be visually superior to it. I agree. With a score like 8.0....its not turning out to be the Game I was hoping for. But with the 360 version coming out a few months behind the Ps3 version (though it wouldn't surprise me if that changed) It gives Epic time to tweak and improve the 360 version. Good news for 360 owners because I was really hoping for another AAA game from Epic for my 360. Gears of War was perfection. But as it turns out Unreal doesn't even stand up graphically to Call of Duty 4. Interesting Indeed. View

Its clear my friend. I could care less about the youtube video comparissons and the screen shot comparissons....Me and my friends actually sat down and compared in FULL HD with my Elite vs my Ps3. Though I do believe the Ps3 version looks good don't get me wrong...but the 360 version is clearly better in regards to the detail, hdr ligting, shadowing, ect....

I challenge you to rent the 360 version and do the comparisson yourself...if at the end of the comparisson you think it looks the same....I will buy you a game of your choice. The only problem with that is this.....I'm someone who is into Graphics.....and I have yet to see a Ps3 game that even comes close to Gears, Prey, Call of Duty 4 (and yes the 360 version looks and runs better than the ps3 version).....Halo 3 (yes even with its dual 640p buffers)....and many more.

But like I started saying initially....Epic knows that they have to get some sort of hype going for the Ps3 version....hoping that they can make a little bit of money from a console that has only seen 2 games sell over 1 million copies worldwide....and 0 titles that have sold over a million copies in the USA....which is the biggest FPS shooter market.....

Epic knows that they have to sell the game to the US market....

Only problem is the US consumers aren't buying it. Not one bit....Europeans can believe it....the japanese can believe it....But I can tell you that the US consumer isn't buying it. I realize there are 5 million ps3 owners. I realize that 10% of ps3 owners may buy blu ray movies....

But I also realize that their are over 500k stand alone HD dvd users compared to less than 100k blu ray stand alone owners...

I also realize that blu ray movie sales are more than HD dvd right now....But I also realize that total HD dvd sales compared to total Blu ray sales is within 500k of eachother.

Thats a small amount when blu ray has 5 million potential blu ray owners out there....

So what that tells me is that we are in the infancy of the format war.....

Now that there are stand alones for 100 to 200 for HD dvd....How long until HD dvd surpasses blu ray with its inflated numbers due to Sony take advantage of its blind followers? LOL....

HD dvd owners are infromed and make a choice....Ps3 owners are like..."oh it plays blu ray movies"...lol.....

With the majority of ps3 owners totally not even knowing it plays movies of any sort....LOL.....

HD dvd has advantages in every area even with its movie sales lagging behind blu ray right now. Because the total number of hd dvd movie sales and blu ray movie sales combined is less than ONE movie release on HD dvd in a couple week period of time. That should put in perspective how small the HD market is right now.

In regards to 1080p....LOL.....If you were to take everyone that owns HD tv's right now....I would be willing to bet that 95% of those people only have 720p and 1080i tvs....LOL......

Now of those total HD tv owners....they are less than 8% of the total movie watching population.....Now you can see how small the hd movie market is right now....even with 5 million ps3's and 500k hd dvd players sold.

HD dvd's advantages for the long haul is its added features, its price, and its name. HD "DVD". Name is a lot more important than yall sony video game supporters realize.

Once again....The movie format industry will not be decided by video game players....LOL....I know its against popular opinion on a video game web site....But its the truth non the less...

I just feel bad for the Ps3 owners who actually blindly followed Sony on this one. The good news is for 200 dollars you can pick up a 1080p hd dvd player at some stores....So all isn't lost for you. Even with you owning the Ps3....it is a video game console still....right? LOL View
