Microsoft Prepares to Curb Stomp Sony
520 days 16 hours ago | by: MorganX
If the rumors of a significant price drop in September for the Xbox are true, then Microsoft will deliver a curb stomp to Sony's cranium this fall.
Microsoft will be the first next-gen console to break the magic $200 barrier with the Arcade Edition. Sure, it has no hard drive. It doesn't need one. All it needs to do to split Sony's skull is to be able to play Gears of War 2. Gears of War d...

The Mother of All Bundles ...
532 days 19 hours ago | by: MorganX
I called it in January. Bluray would destroy HDDVD and Sony would do major damage with two blockbuster bundles: I Am Legend, and Dark Knight.
Well, I was wrong about I Am Legend. Probably not a big deal since the movie wasn't all that. But Dark Knight is another story. Sony has a chance for the Mother of All Bundles. PS3: Dark Knight Edition/Bundle. The only question is, does Sony's market...

10 small things Sony should do to be king, ...
But probably won't because they don't have the Killer Instinct that Microsoft seems to have. Microsoft understands that sometimes you have to do little things to build brand awareness, loyalty, and the impression that you are everywhere and everything to everyone. Even when you are not, and even when there is no immediate monetary profit.

Shill's Don't Help, and Don't Work
627 days 13 hours ago | by: MorganX
I've noticed more and more shills over the past week attempting to ruin the constructive debate in the great N4G community. While fanboys exist on both sides, shills take insults and disgusting comments to a whole new level. Their intent is to silence any opposition to their masters.
Working in IT, I've been in Microsoft evangelist groups before. Primarily ClubIE when Netscape was actually...

I'd pay for an Xbox Ultimate, how 'bout you?
628 days 7 hours ago | by: MorganX
Lately my blogs have been slanted towards favoring the PS3. Hey, I'm just a gamer, not a fanboy. I can appreciate both platforms. I'm not anti-Xbox 360, I own one; I'm pro consumer. The PS3 is simply offering more value right now. What angers me, is that the Xbox could offer the same features as PS3 and combined with its superior online ecosystem, would probably easily be everyone's preferred p...

Why Microsoft is wrong about Digital Downloads
629 days 23 hours ago | by: MorganX
While browsing the web I came across a Microsoft Xbox Live! Marketplace advertisement for digital rental of Wil Smith's blockbuster "I am Legend."
This ad is the perfect example of why Microsoft is wrong in it's assertion that it does not need a next gen HD disc format in its game consoles because it has Digital Downloads.
You see I do rent movies I don't want to own from XBox Live!...

Sony's Firmware v2.3 Lays Down the Pimp Hand On Xbox 360, or Does It?
635 days 18 hours ago | by: MorganX
It's finally, here. The firmware release audio and videophiles and gamers have been waiting for. With firmware 2.3 Sony finally delivers on the promise of its internal Blu-ray drive. This release brings DTS-HD Master Audio Decoding. Recent releases already delivered Blu-ray Profile 2.0, limited DivX compatibility, and the PS3 has always carried the Dolby-TrueHD logo.
With this upcoming ...

Cliffhanger - Longin' for a Laserdisc remake
642 days 3 hours ago | by: MorganX
Everyone seems to remember Dragon's Lair. It's the game that put Laserdisc gaming on the map. A new generation has been introduced to the great animation of Laserdisc games through rerelease on PC and DVD of Dragon's Lair and it's less successful follow-up Space Ace. But I wonder how many remember probably one the best, though not as successful as Lair, Laserdisc game Cliffhanger.

Defenses down - the promise of the PS3 has won over this XBox fan
642 days 12 hours ago | by: MorganX
A year ago, I was still swearing I would never buy a PS3. They cost too much, the Sony Root Kit, and XBLA and XBOX Live were too awesome. Furthermore, I didn't need Bluray, after all, I had the HD-DVD add on.
Then something happened, advanced audio codecs, Heavenly Sword, and Wipeout HD. First the audio codecs, Dolby-TrueHD made its appearance and to my dismay, I learned the Xbox 360 c...
