@edhe
yup, Sgt. Johnson as well as Chief Mendez (The guy who trained the Spartan II's and the helped Kurt train the Spartan III's ) were both Spartan I's. View

@Bonsai1214
Yes they did start roughly at the same time:

Project SPARTAN II Begins - Sep 23, 2517

Project SPARTAN III Begins - Nov 7, 2531

So their was only a difference of 14 years in between the start of the two programs.

And although they were designed to be cheaper and expendable, they were trained just as well as the Spartan II's. View

@STK026
They don't "suck", they are pretty much the same as their Spartan II cousins except for the fact that they tend to be a tad physcho (the candidate pool wasn't as strict which resulted in the majority of the candidates being orphans from defeated rebel colonies), and their SPI (camouflage) armor was not as advanced as the Mjolnir armor. They were trained by a Spartan II (Kurt), they had all the same augmentations (except for a few extra ones I believe), and the program started roughly during the same time frame as the Spartan II program. What are you talking about... The Fall of Reach is about the Spartan II program (MC and the rest of the Spartan II's), how they were selected, how they were trained, the various missions they took part in, all leading up to the actual Battle of Reach. View

@Godmars290
If you read the first book, which would have been The Fall of Reach, you wouldn't have read about the Spartan III's. Their story was told in the third book, The Ghost's of Onyx. View

Fahjad was crippled during the last augmentations, so it can't be him. But it can't be Fred either cuz he was already in the fight, he was part of Red Team. So the only other Spartan it could possibly be is Kurt, unless this is a totally new Spartan that we don't know about, maybe a member from Grey Team (possibly Jai)? They were a 3 man team that were said to be "the most independent and individualistic" Spartans, but also were supposedly to far away to help out, so who knows. View

Yeah man, me to. But like I said up there, time will only tell, but until then you know Bungie will keep hyping up this game like no tomorrow. But with that being said, they have never really let us down so far so count me sold... for now. View

@darkequitus
Fair enough, but you are still wrong about the brainwashing. The only augmentations that were done to the subjects were all physical, so though it might of been terrifying to the kids for the first year, the kids selected were chosen specifically for that reason, they had to be mentally tough.

But getting back to the "Lieutenant" business, the only other Spartan that held that rank and and it could possible be is Kurt. View

Nope
This game takes place during or shortly after the actual "Battle of Reach", so he is either in orbit defending the MAC gun generators or jumping into slips space aboard the Pillar of Autumn. MC was never actually on the ground during the Covenant invasion, all of the known Spartans were split up into two teams, "Team Red" and "Team Blue". The Blue Team was lead by MC, the team that was sent in space, the Red team was the the team that was sent to help on the ground.

@darkequitus

Did you read the novels? Yes, the Spartans were kidnapped but they were never brainwashed as you say. And about the "non-commissioned officer" part, he is a Master Chief Petty Officer, It is equal in rank to Master Gunnery Sergeant and Sergeant Major in the UNSC Marine Corps. That is what the disagree was for. View

No clue
But pretty freaky for sure. I think the most interesting part of the release would be that the player we will be controlling is in fact a Spartan III, I totally thought it was Jai (Grey Team) or Kurt (Spartan II that trained he SIII's) but I guess I was wrong! View

"very bleak and violent."
Nice, I was hoping the series was going to move away from the bright colored/clean look, bring on the grittiness and realism, bring on the violence. In my opinion the games never really portrayed how bad@ss Spartans really are compared to the way the novels did, so I hope they realize that vision in the game. Only time can tell, but from what little Bungie showed from the opening cinematic, it looks like we are on our way to another gaming experience. Good gaming people. View

Amen brother
I honestly do not know what people are complaining about. I'll admit that the first time I saw it I was a tad underwhelmed, but the changes were obvious. Since my original viewing I have watched it in HD several times and the more I watch it the more I am impressed by not only the detail but by also the huge improvements this game has over H3.

Reach Cinematic - http://www.bungie.net/image...

For all you that are saying that this is "not in game/in engine, but not in game/ CG", Bungie stated that the cut scenes were part of the opening cinematic for Reach.

If (and that's a big if) you have ever played any Halo games, all the cut scenes are done within the game engine as seen in these links:

I thought the same thing...
But i'm pretty sure that Bungie had the characters designs down packed way before MW2 was even released, so it's just a (very cool) coincidence. If you look closer you will notice that its not a print but it appears that he/she actually scratched the skull design out, probably with that knife he is sharpening during the vid.

Here is a link, the new Spartan's look crazy man!

Impossible, MC was never on the planet REACH during the battle, he was up in orbit to defend its power generators that powered the Orbital Magnetic Accelerator Cannon platforms. And also for the simple reason that all the Spartan II's were like brothers and sisters, they all grew up and trained together since they were 6 years old, so the fact that the rest of the other Spartan's did not recognize the "new guy" would point to him NOT being MC. Questions for the actual Halo fans on here...
Who do you think the "main character" is? I'm putting my bets on Jai from "Grey Team", either him or Kurt. Both were assumed to be dead before reached ever happened and that is why the rest of the Spartans didn't recognize him. View

They should really change the name of this site to N4Haters
UC2 wins game of the year, but yet this article is "hotter", and why? Just to bash the game? Because from most of the comments posted, the majority of them are negative... I just don't get it... View
