As yes SE is a business they have not always been so geared toward profit solely.
During the end of the SNES generation SE needed a disk based format to fully utilize their vision of FF7. So they made a decision that was for the benefit of the PRODUCT not their wallets as they dropped loyal Nintendo fans. The end product benefited them to going to the best possible source to make their game the best it could be.
Currently SE has gotten tainted as they seem to talk about profit margins in a manner that seems to override the artistic values that SE has always portrayed in its younger years. It is no wonder that fewer and fewer people care about FF games, as the game seems to be left with a hallow shine. The pride of product and dedication that was once their seems to be replaced solely with maximizing profits.
This has nothing to do with SE going to the 360 but just a view of the company as whole now in the decisions that they are making. As there seems to be little reasoning to be making a set number of games that are either exclusive or timed for the 360, if they are just trying to reach the maximum audience. There is definitely a courtship going on, and instead of their products being some birthed through creativity and heart they are machined and conveyor'ed through the lines.
Agree or Disagree you will have to admit that SE has lost that bit of spark/magic that it once had.
