As far a a quick search on amazon goes I can see Rock band as being listed as $170 in the USA.

It's not a great leap of imagination to believe that the UK price will be £170. Despite 170 pounds converting to 330 dollars at the present time.

Also a point to any American friends wondering about the UK price drop of the Xbox 360. In the US the xbox 360 premium is $299.

That converts to 150 pounds. In britain the Premium cost 200 pounds. This converts to 397 dollars. It's enough to make you scream. Now you see why it's no sweat for Microsoft to reduce the price in Europe, they are only losing the massive profits they were making and substituting lower profits for increased sales and perceived goodwill among the masses that don't look or care about pricing of products outside Europe.

Europeans are used to it. The PS3 is the same along with the WII so don't mistake this for an anti-microsoft rant.

Europeans pay twice as much for our hardware and software and are expected to put up with long delays. Welcome to Europe, be glad you live in America.

Back to Rock band, impress me EA release the game at £85 the price it should be at direct conversion from pound to dollar. I will wait on the world ending before that happens. View

I never play first person shooters on the PSP due to the lack of dual thumbsticks. I would buy a second PSP that did even if that was the only change / upgrade.

As a passing thought why can't you connect a sixaxis controller to the psp via the usb port? Imagine that! play games portably the current way but when at home you have the option of plugging the psp into a tv and using a normal playstation controller.

Think about it Sony, you can sell a proprietary cable to psp and ps3 users to get the job done and you might even make a sale of sixaxis controllers to psp only users wishing to play FPS games. View

Personally I thought the ending to Jericho was excellent, it was a cliffhanger ending. I saw it as the Jericho squad breaking the cycle that had endured for thousands of years. Taking a risk that would either destroy mankind or save it. Otherwise they would just patch up the breach and it would only be a matter of time before the cycle would begin again and nothing would be achieved.

I think most people were disappointed because there were no answers, as a Lost fan I have learned to enjoy stories that never seem to end and only deepen. Though I can see why others don't.

Jericho was a poor game, though there were elements that were enjoyable. Playing it after Call of duty four I couldn't help but imagine what an Infinity Ward developed Jericho could have been like. However, that wasn't the way it turned out. I would still buy Jericho 2 as I am a big fan of Clive barker, and enjoyed the original game enough to run through it twice. View

As pointed out to me on my blog and here on n4g I did get that wrong in the original post. Yes you can see achievements in game, as jenzo points out by pressing the guide button when an achievement pops up.

What I didn't know and presumably some other people didn't either, is that by pressing A on the section with gamerscore and status written on it the guide sends you to a menu named profile. The Profile menu has an option to view games and you can see your achievements here for all games not just the current game. I didn't know this and have Maxx doubt to thank for educating me, hope this helps you too Jenzo. View

Thank everyone for your time and interest.
Hello there everyone, Horza Gobuchul here.

Thank you to Kalistyles for reading my blog and posting this news, I don't know you and thank you for posting my article, it is much appreciated.

I know that blogs are not news, and this probably should be a comment in a related news article, i have done this before with other posts from my blog. It is here now though.

Firstly I just want to say that I am a 37 year old nurse from the UK who has been playing games all my adult life. My opinion is neither better or more important than anyone else here. I chose to write that piece on my blog because I enjoy writing and enjoy games, when I have an opinion on something I like to express it.

Can I answer some of the comments?

To King Xtreme 81 I don't really think that everyone wants full in game XMB, what I fear is that Sony thinks we do because we keep asking for what we want in that way. The point of the article really was to illustrate that the 360 doesn't have in game dashboard, yet saying i want in game xmb without clear specification of what you want is like saying to microsoft I want in game dashboard. What you say about the pop up on the ps button is exactly my point in the article. That is what the 360 does with it's minidash. I understand what you say about abbreviating, my point is maybe that can be harmful, maybe we need to waste an entire paragraph being specific?

To Lil titan
I think Sony does know what it is doing, maybe they are confused as to exactly what we want however.

lil Bush illustrates my point here in his comment, he says "in game xmb, it would just helping the online service". If i was at sony reading this, and I am sure they probably have someone read forums to see what user mood is. Then I would be confused as to what you actually want here, do you want to play a video from your hard drive or browse with the web browser while playing a game? I don't think that is what you mean here lil bush.

EZCheez
I have seen this GAP poll mentioned before, and it seemed to be referring to exactly what I am talking about, so yes Sony does seem to be aware and are asking what features we would like implemented, what were the other options on the poll list if you can remember?

To Deep
Yes I have read that article a while back, and it was partly the comments on n4g after that article that prompted me to write on my blog. Some people, a large majority dissed that article and the comments were full of "we need in game xmb now".

To THX7168
Thanks for your assessment of my article, please see this comment thread for a few people who are asking for in game xmb and also the confusion surrounding people asking for in game music, in game chat and some want in game web browsing. What do we want, If I am confused about our needs as ps3 gamers then maybe Sony is too.

Mr Potato wants to see how his downloads are doing, I agree, but do we need that feature in game? Maybe, maybe not, just another confusing spanner in this issues works.

Hellbringer
My point may be obscured by my waffle, but i think the point is we don't need all the features of the xmb in game, only a few specific ones. it's just that everyone has differing priorities as to what is needed and that like the xbox does with it's minidash we don't need sony to waste time and resources giving us every feature of the xmb in game, it's just possible that they might be confused as to what we actually want. I personally don't want them to use up ram with things like the web browser, do you?

mccomber
The article isn't directed at sony it's too the community, i am suggesting we ask for specifics rather than just say "i want in game xmb", really that is all. I don't believe that people really want the whole xmb, but when you think about it isn't that what you are asking for when you say I want in game xmb? Should we be careful what we wish for? (and sorry i didn't mean to imply that you personally said you wanted in game xmb).

Xplosneer
I just wanted that out there as well, the xbox 360 has features like cross game voice chat and and in game soundtracks, through the use of it's small footprint minidash, does anyone know what microsoft actually call what i have termed the minidash? It doesn't have in game xmb or dashboard, why should the ps3?

Some people have also commented that in the article there was an error regarding the achievements list. You got me, yes on the 360 you can see the achievement list for a game in game, what threw me when writing the article was that you can't do that from the minidash. You have to press the guide button when an achievement notification pops up to access the list in game. Well spotted and I was wrong. An interesting point for a future update. Maybe the option to browse achievements for the current game should be present on the minidash, maybe it is, and I just haven't spotted it. View

To PirateThom,
You are probably right, I don't know, i am really just asking the question, I don't ever expect an answer. They most likely do know which accounts belong to which console through the mac address. I just wonder if they choose to use the user accounts or mac addresses of ps3's online to base their figures on.

To ravinash,
I am sure they know too, as above i wonder if they choose to turn a blind eye for the sake of figure inflation.

Thank you both for a nice reply, this was my first post on N4G and I don't want to come over as a fanboy, because I am far from one. Well I am a games fanboy, not a particular system fanboy. View

Does sony bury their head in the sand regarding inflation of PSN user numbers?
This is a post from my blog i wrote a few days ago, seemed appropriate to post it here.

If you take the time to read some forum posts, most people have multiple accounts on psn for downloading from each territories store. This is done because, while some demo's are released in all areas at the same time, most are just released in one or two specific regions at a time.

For example Ninja Gaiden sigma came to the USA store two months before the European. Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted similarly so, though the delay may have been less. To get round this, fevered gamers not prepared to wait are making more than one playstation network account in the required territory. This seems to only require a valid post code for the region to work. So far so good, no harm done.

Indeed, there is never any real harm done here, but is it a sales pitch? Are Sony counting each account as a separate person in their numbers for amount of users on psn. If so we can probably half the number of users for a more accurate statistic of total conscious human users on the psn.

It does seems that Sony are actually trying to foster this practice so that they can claim a larger amount of users than there are to use as a bargaining chip then they talk about xbox live. We have x million users in our first year, xbox live had x million less in it's first year etc. How do Sony seemingly unwittingly foster this, they release demos in differing territories and then wait weeks before releasing them to the others, why?

The only reason can be localisation, now i understand that for Europe this can be a headache, surely a multinational with the resources of Sony can help the game developers of their biggest franchises to do this quicker so that demo's can be released simultaneously in each store.

From my own point of view there is no excuse for delaying from the Us to the Uk, we both speak the same language after all. Hell give the rest of europe the choice to download the english only version early if they want most Europeans can speak english better than I can as their second language.

Sony have the power to see where a playstation is in the world when it's online, they can close the loophole that allows you to make multiple accounts. If they actually didn't want you to be able to do it then you can be certain it would be harder to do.

So there is my point, maybe at the start it was just something they never thought of, and then they saw it. Picture the scene, two guys deep in Sony HQ staring at their server's screens.

Admin: "Look, that guy from Europe just made a usa account?"
Boss: "What did he do that for, never knew you could!"
Admin: "He's getting that demo for ninja gaiden from the store."
Boss: "Send in the lawyers!"
Admin: "Hang on the demo is free."
Boss: "Oh, ok, hang on a second, so he now has two accounts?"
Admin: "Yes, two accounts, one person."
Boss: "That means we can say that the number of users on psn is higher than it is
Admin: "I suppose so, look, when I search there are hundreds of people doing it, also for the Japanese territories too."
Boss: "Tell no one, i have to go and revise the demo release schedules, ha ha ha."

There they have it, a loophole generated by their users that they can legitimately use as a claim for user number figures and have deniability when someone calls them on it. View
